Loud Harley-Davidson Pipes That Still Make Torque! Tab Zombies & Z Rings with Torque Cones!

- Loud@harleydavidsonpipes are the only kind of pipes in my opinion. the problem is it's a known issue that it is hard to maintain a good brap without losing backpressure. These Z Rings from @TABPerformance with the optional torque cones fix that problem so you can tear up the neighborhood but still maintain a healthy torque curve. If you have Tab pipes in just about any size, they make these for your mufflers. Link is below!

A slight tone difference, but still sounds pissed lol. Love it
Here you go my friend ... No more Chirp and alarm still works !
Perform the following to switch between chirp and chirpless modes.
1.With security fob present, set the OFF/RUN switch to RUN.
2.When the security lamp turns off, set the OFF/RUN switch to OFF.
3.When the security lamp turns off (but before the turn signals flash twice), immediately set the OFF/RUN switch to RUN.
4.When the security lamp turns off, immediately set the OFF/RUN switch to OFF.
5.When the security lamp turns off (but before the turn signals flash twice), immediately set the OFF/RUN switch to RUN. The system changes mode. The siren chirps or remains silent accordingly.
The most important comment ever and he hasn’t read it yet lol
Had these for months. Headpipes and zombies. Glad you brought this to my attention
Great Mother's Day gift for Mrs. Monkey and her Beautiful ride.
Happy Mother's Day Mrs. Monkey.
You are in my prayers
Hoka Hey
😘 the same to all the lovely moms in your life as well Van
You are so kind, bud.
I absolutely love that bike. Love the sound. That’s my favorite CVO color scheme ever. Hope the Mrs had a great Mother’s Day
Thanks, you too!
I have 50cal on my 21RG w/131 partially due to your videos! Love the sound and quite a noticeable seat of pants difference from thundercones it had when I bought it. Thank you Sir will definitely look into this at dyno time after warranty is up and get rid of cat head!
I have khrome werks full exhaust with 131 would love to hear the differences. Where you from? I have a 2019 roadglide
It’s not back pressure! There are two things when it comes to exhaust dynamics. Scavenging and reversion! There is plenty of information you can google to get an understanding to get a well performing exhaust. Loud pipes might says lives but kills power on the low to midrange rpms.
Very true.
I designed the system for thrush mufflers for there 08 launch ..
I've given up on trying to explain this lol
@@High_Desert_Tanner I am also ready to give up on my two bigggst Points. Torque is what you really want and it’s not a peak number thst you want either. 🤦🏻♂️
Ask the average rider the difference between reversion and back pressure. Most don’t know the difference.
Personally, I’ve seen much better results from the FullSac head than the Tab but it does look like it’s built solid.
A Harley tech confirmed what you said about the discoloration of the pipes. It is caused from the compression difference between the two. Also, water tends to drip out of that left pipe more than right when first started due to the moisture build up in the cross over pipe. Since I'm OCD about my bike I'm always polishing that damn dirty pipe! Still glad you pointed it out because I also thought something was wrong when I first noticed it.
It is true what you said about the pipes. If you live in colder climates you see more of the exhaust on the left.
I use a set of Vance and Hines dresser duals with 4 inch slip-on on '16 ultra. It's just a stage one but I've been pretty happy with the increase in power and torque that i got from it when I put a appropriate tune on it.
@Tracy Lee
Do your Vance & Hines pipes have an X pipe between the head pipes and mufflers?
I also ride a ‘16 Ultra that has a Vance & Hines exhaust with the X pipe and a stage 1 tune!
No, I'm not using what they call the power duals on mine, it's a true dual system.
Backpressure is not needed for anything, you have to acoid reversion.
I just noticed BBS is going to be at the FTS this year! Sweet
Hell yeah! I will be there the 10th after we do the bike build and Black Hills Harley.
Those sound awesome. I run a D&D 2N1 with a ghost pipe. It’s been on the bike since new, had the stock 107 punched to 114 stage IV before it left the dealer. So I have nothing else to reference as far as feel. But that Tab Performance system sounds better than my D&D set up.
I put an RCX Tormentor header on my Limited. They’re a 2-into-2 setting with a crossover in the header. I expected it to even out the flow but there is still more output from the right muffler. The new arrangement sounds great!
I thought cones was what you got with icecream in. Oh I want one now.
I installed a set on my heritage zombies with the baffles in mind sounds like turbo
Digging the new style z rings. TAB are some awesome sounding pipes.
Hey Brother, it ain't the back pressure. Back pressure is always bad for your bike! What's actually happening when you have big pipes, it slows down the speed of your exhaust, causing your motor not to get a whole cylinder of fresh, clean air on the compression stroke. This is called exhaust gas reversioning. These tips, or lollipops, or what ever else they are called prevent that from happening by speeding up the exhaust. Gotta think flow and the speed of the flow. It's like if you have 25 pounds of water pressure coming out of a 1/4 inch pipe, it's coming fast. But now have that same 25 pounds of water pressure coming out a 2 inch pipe, it is coming slow. Another way to look at it is putting your thumb over the end of a water hose, makes the water come out faster, speeding up the flow. Fluid dynamics is hard to explain man!! Love the TAB 50 Cal's! Just put the 4.5 TAB's on mine. I like the zombie Z rings, they're getting ordered right now!!
still riding in upstate NY rode to work on 5/8 & this morning 5/9 36deg. but will be mid 60's this afternoon!
So much fun to torque the cones!
It really is!
Very Cool
I haven't tried it yet. But I seen a video where a guy ran a 2.5 tab baffle on the short pipe side and a lollipop on the long side pipe for more power without getting to quiet. Been meaning to try that...
Interesting???
Sounds so much better.
Well I hope your happy now. Made me buy the header pipes too. 🤣The quality of the mufflers are at the top. Im sure Ill be happy with the 2-2 head pipe. ✌🏽
Look and sound amazing. Music is so loud I could barely hear my Bub exhaust. Now, I hit that throttle and them zombies drowns the music. All your fault i might add. I love it!!
I have the 4.5 with zombies, but went to the 2.5 baffles because it wouldn't have changed much with the inserts . Now I'm thinking about taking them out and redo the wrap , maybe a little less /more sound or put wrap on zombies??? Love the sound of them with the throttle down..
You can paint the inside of the tips black. That makes them look good
Dude, you are funny! I like how you share good information and integrate your sense of humor into your dialogue. Keep up the good work. BTW, I just subscribed!😊
100% agree with your pipe coloration explanation. I have the same setup on my 2020 CVO Limited and it has done the same thing. I can even hear a tone difference between the pipes when getting on the throttle. Keep the great content coming Mr. Monkey!
Oooh, like that seat! good vid thanks.
Sounds nice 👌 even more reason to paint the end of those pipes high heat flat black...just saying, details matter!
Funniest thing in this video is the back and forth arguing with the chirp 🤣
Sounds awesome. And you could always paint the little z a heat resistant red to match the stripes .
I would’ve swapped sides with the tips that way they would even out in color.
For Rinehart pipes they recommend using Tuning baffles because Rinehart flow to good.
My left side pipe is hot and the right side blows way more flow and is cool.
Prob the way the cross over is
Def running on all 2 cyls
Black bolts matter. Killer sound.
Awesome FORD truck ..
Man that sounds so badass! They look great too! I love TAB Performance.
@ 7:20 those black smudges is carbon the building block of life

Lol sorry Braking Bad reference for the day 😅
there was a lot of "tips" and "blowing" in this vid. i think Droops livestream may have fried something lol. it does sound different but still good. good vid
Now thats a cool look&sound🤙
Has anyone else noticed how beefed up that garage door is with all those metal supports, cross-members, etc. God damn, I know that's hurricane territory but it's almost bullet proof!
Typical SoFlo Garage Do!
Came down to Florida for memorial week for a little R&R
If you don't have extra hardware when your done your doing it wrong hahahaha
Sounds bad ass you are a lucky man
Cool presentation 😎
Thank you 😋
Looks cool and sounds really good! Nice upgrade!
Looks and sounds great
Yes I believe it sounds totally different 100%
Hi Da Monk I still can't believe that you have not throttled that budgie yet.
After watching your video I was able to fix a bike at work that was having misfire codes at cold start.
Right on!!!
Based on your recommendation & 50 CAL video I went with the 4.5 TAB Zombies for my 2014 FLHTK. Was concerned about losing lower-end torque (which is where I ride 80% of the time / under 4k RPMs). After install I did notice some loss of torque until 3500 RPM. Called TAB to discuss the zombie cones & asked their thoughts on the header torque cones (drops in the header pipe where they connect to the engine). They said the zombie cones do the same as the header cones, but theirs completes the theme of the exhaust.
Doing further research and speaking with a few HD mechs 3/4 said if you're going to use torque cones it's better to be in the head pipe vs the muffler (really it boils down to rider preference).
Since a set of zombie cones run $100 and header torque cones run $15, I went with the cheaper solution. I did notice a difference off the line + at the lower RPMs, however on decel the bike now "rumbles" more due to the gases not escaping as quickly (there is no decel pop). Have only had 800 miles since installing the torque cones and overall am satisfied with their improved performace. Will give it until next 3-hole change before deciding to keep or swap out for the zombie cones?
Again it goes back to personal preference & aesthetics.
As for TAB Headers, (2-1-2/cross-over) looked at them in Daytona (2022 bike week) as well as S&S, Khrome Werks, Cobras, Bassani, and several others - (currently running S&S TDs) I am torn between the TABS & Bassani? All were good, but the 2 I'm considering appear to be more in-line for me. The TABS run $700 & Bassani $469 - not in a rush and cost isn't an issue.
Thx for the info & keep on keeping on :)
A Tab 2-2 in chrome is $629 www.tabperformance.com/touring-fl-chrome-exhaust-head-pipe-2-into-2-p/h-d-touring-chrome-head-pipes.htm
The Bassani is cheaper because it doesn't include new heat shields, you're supposed to re use your stock ones. The Tab is a whole new system with new chrome heat shields.
The idle note definitely sounded different ie. better/louder after the fact. However, once you gave it some throttle it did seem a little bit quieter than before. Just my opinion listening from on an iPhone X.
I hear ya!....How's it feel, who cares about some numbers on a piece of paper...hahaha.
🤙🏾🔥 need some of that heat in Oregon asap 🤦🏽♂️
Yes! Agreed .. send it to the PNW
@@dassolo lol
If you prefer what it sounds like the power doesn't matter.
I put an SS header w/crossover on my last build. (V&H I prefer we’re back ordered) It helped to equal the pressure/flow/scavenging. I usually run a gal of VP110 to a tank of fuel, and it cleans up everything from the piston to… just the tip 🤪
In Australia its simple if you get picked up its 94DB at 2500 RPM
LOUD is the key word. Most of the after market pipes are too loud. I put my stock pipes back on and it's a much nicer cruise to not hear the constant ROAR. I can spare the few extra seconds it takes to get up to the SPEED LIMIT.
Hoka Hey riders typically run stock pipes also because the sound wears them out. I like loud, but it's a preference.
lol I always thought that chirp sounded like someone kicked a dog......I hate that thing too.....hahahaaaahha
I think it looks cool at the very least.
The alarm chirp is a little black box behind the left leg cover and it's only 2 wires to remove I removed mine to lol
Non-rotating part in an air system is a "vane".
Man explained a lot to me
Thought you dont want back pressure, that's exhaust getting sucked back into the system
still loud as fck but can hear the difference. without had a bit of crackle to them and with the torque plate in the crackle went away.
Baxters garage on CZcams has an interesting video on exhaust dynamics. The anti-reversion cheese grater type baffles like in the Rinehart exhaust for example are what he recommends.
Baxter is a brilliant dude!!!
I really like the way there look
What a GREAT Mothers Day Gift!! ;) (and that Springer needs new rubber.... just sayin)
it does for sure. At least on the front.
My TABS does the same
Put a set of 4.5 Bamsticks with the Z-Rings and torque cones and now homie has a crack. So get crackin Macrackalacken.
And if they really cared to make the best solution would be velocity stacks with a throttle controlled iris that is more closed up at low to mid throttle and fully open at mid to full throttle. That is how you get the loudest and the performance . Or put a turbo on it and remove mufflers all together. Turbo will give you all the back pressure you could ever want.
It actually does sound a bit throatier, than without the rings.
luv the palm beach area!my goto in feburary!!!capt wes reel intense fishing charter is the nuts!!!tell em andy sent ya!!!🤣🤣🤣
have a 17 ultra classic looks like a stripper anyway has stock pipes goin 50cal zombie insert tab headpipe 472 cam but im still in the air on a tuner🤷🏻♂️are you sayin there good?or just thx for a sponsor sayin its good?
No, I am definitely sold on the PowerVision. I like that its the same tuner no matter how far you go, no BS. My bike is about to go through some really serious mods and its still going to fit the bill.
Bad ass Fam 🤙🏾🔥
throw some air ride and an electric center stand on the ultra !
Need me a set of those
All the sizes are on the site now accept for the 50 cals. Those come out the 16th.
My tabs are doing the same thing , left side from rear is really discoloring Still like them though bud, had them put on at Sturgis in 2020 👍
Yep. That's gonna happen with any high flow muffler unfortunately. One of the 2-1-2 issues.
@@ProfessionalMonkey it's my right side that is discoloring
Them cones won't hold much icecream.
Love your videos. They are Very informative
Those look and sound amazing. They look sweeeeeeet, 😎😎😎
Thank you 😋
What is your recommendation if one doesnt want to go as loud with Zombies
Nice.
Thanks!
Beep-Beep. Shut-up! LOL!
I was expecting them to sound like the siren whistle I had as a kid. ZZZIIINNNGGG. ZINGGG ZIINGG ZZZZIIINNGGG. lol I'm just kidding, they sound badass. I for one would be interested in the butt dyno results.
Yup look real nice, still planning on getting some zombie for my bike, they may have to be 4.5 if they don't make the 50cal any time soon for my 103. Great video I'll definitely order these as well.... ride safe brother
Chrome for the twin cam are available in 50 cals now.

Check out a 3rd though my video and you'll see why I need them, can't have the wife's bike louder then my bike 😉 czcams.com/video/5iLyQQmc1dw/video.html
Im not seeing them on the website
@@jordanlane6139 The chrome listing for the 50 cals says 1995-Up so you click them one then select model year 1995-2016
Hey brother what would you do to wake up a 2020 sgs I got krome works slip ons they suck I'm thinking of a stage 11 maybe take the baffles out of the slip ons
Are you after sound or performance? Louder isnt faster unfortunately. I would change the headpipe and go stage 2. Its the best bang for the buck.
By "me and the Misses are going to spend time in the saddle" you do mean that you are riding pillion, right?
If she would let me!
I know this is going to sound stupid, but here we go.
You said the tab head pipes are compatible with stock, basically a cat delete?
Wanting to do just that, delete the cat (only).
Thank you in advance.
The arguments you have with the bike (chirp) kill me every time! 😂😂😂
Its not just decatted, it is a smaller diameter pipe. Decatted stock headpipes are bigger than they need to be so the bike never runs as well as it can (I am told).
Nice! I had no idea that we had that option. Well, I'm in Cali so we don't have MANY options at all. I barely find a business that would deliver TABS to Cali:) Now, I'll have to order these. I had the same question about backpreassure. Great video, as always, and fun;)) I'm waiting for my tabs for my Slim 2020.
Great video buddy
Question what seat is that with the red accents
Advanblack Raptor Seat
It’s much better for Low End Torque but Sound lil bit Different & low as well
I installed on Mine 117Ci STG IV RGS
I Feel a lot Better when Shifting on 3-3500 range
I paint Blk to match Color with my Setup
If back pressure equals torque then why change the mufflers at all .. I never see drag bikes or cars running full exhaust..
You should disable the chirp and see how long it takes the Mrs. to notice
She'd shank me.
🗡🗡🗡It's fine, everything's fine.🗡🗡🗡
Can you increase the throaty sound if you shorten the baffles ?
Not sure.
I am tryin to figure out my option.. I had a lowrider st. With zombie baffles…. Are these available for the Softail version
Looks like it - www.tabperformance.com/zombie-rings-p/z-rings.htm
We know back pressure isn’t the correct term… good job scientists.. BUT WE DGAF!!! Sheesh
I just got a 2019 streetglide with only neighbor haters coming from a 12 sg 103 with no cats and rinehart s without baffles and I’m so torn if I should just leave it or make it loud asf like the old one.
Would they work, if you are running a stock header? I only have zombie slip-ons.
Mr. Monkey is Mrs. monkeys Tab exhaust too loud that you cant hear the radio? i have the Mako shark cvo with tab zombie's with out head pipe was wondering what you think?
I hear the stereo just fine when I ride it!
@@ProfessionalMonkey thank you very much I really enjoy watching your video's
