Loud Harley-Davidson Pipes That Still Make Torque! Tab Zombies & Z Rings with Torque Cones!

  • Loud‪@harleydavidson‬pipes are the only kind of pipes in my opinion. the problem is it's a known issue that it is hard to maintain a good brap without losing backpressure. These Z Rings from ‪@TABPerformance‬ with the optional torque cones fix that problem so you can tear up the neighborhood but still maintain a healthy torque curve. If you have Tab pipes in just about any size, they make these for your mufflers. Link is below!

    Here you go my friend ... No more Chirp and alarm still works !
    Perform the following to switch between chirp and chirpless modes.
    1.With security fob present, set the OFF/RUN switch to RUN.
    2.When the security lamp turns off, set the OFF/RUN switch to OFF.
    3.When the security lamp turns off (but before the turn signals flash twice), immediately set the OFF/RUN switch to RUN.
    4.When the security lamp turns off, immediately set the OFF/RUN switch to OFF.
    5.When the security lamp turns off (but before the turn signals flash twice), immediately set the OFF/RUN switch to RUN. The system changes mode. The siren chirps or remains silent accordingly.

    It’s not back pressure! There are two things when it comes to exhaust dynamics. Scavenging and reversion! There is plenty of information you can google to get an understanding to get a well performing exhaust. Loud pipes might says lives but kills power on the low to midrange rpms.

      Ask the average rider the difference between reversion and back pressure. Most don’t know the difference.

  • @ironsteed5766
    @ironsteed5766 Před 2 lety +4

    A Harley tech confirmed what you said about the discoloration of the pipes. It is caused from the compression difference between the two. Also, water tends to drip out of that left pipe more than right when first started due to the moisture build up in the cross over pipe. Since I'm OCD about my bike I'm always polishing that damn dirty pipe! Still glad you pointed it out because I also thought something was wrong when I first noticed it.

  • @Big88Country
    @Big88Country Před rokem +1

    Hey Brother, it ain't the back pressure. Back pressure is always bad for your bike! What's actually happening when you have big pipes, it slows down the speed of your exhaust, causing your motor not to get a whole cylinder of fresh, clean air on the compression stroke. This is called exhaust gas reversioning. These tips, or lollipops, or what ever else they are called prevent that from happening by speeding up the exhaust. Gotta think flow and the speed of the flow. It's like if you have 25 pounds of water pressure coming out of a 1/4 inch pipe, it's coming fast. But now have that same 25 pounds of water pressure coming out a 2 inch pipe, it is coming slow. Another way to look at it is putting your thumb over the end of a water hose, makes the water come out faster, speeding up the flow. Fluid dynamics is hard to explain man!! Love the TAB 50 Cal's! Just put the 4.5 TAB's on mine. I like the zombie Z rings, they're getting ordered right now!!

    Based on your recommendation & 50 CAL video I went with the 4.5 TAB Zombies for my 2014 FLHTK. Was concerned about losing lower-end torque (which is where I ride 80% of the time / under 4k RPMs). After install I did notice some loss of torque until 3500 RPM. Called TAB to discuss the zombie cones & asked their thoughts on the header torque cones (drops in the header pipe where they connect to the engine). They said the zombie cones do the same as the header cones, but theirs completes the theme of the exhaust.
    Doing further research and speaking with a few HD mechs 3/4 said if you're going to use torque cones it's better to be in the head pipe vs the muffler (really it boils down to rider preference).
    Since a set of zombie cones run $100 and header torque cones run $15, I went with the cheaper solution. I did notice a difference off the line + at the lower RPMs, however on decel the bike now "rumbles" more due to the gases not escaping as quickly (there is no decel pop). Have only had 800 miles since installing the torque cones and overall am satisfied with their improved performace. Will give it until next 3-hole change before deciding to keep or swap out for the zombie cones?
    Again it goes back to personal preference & aesthetics.
    As for TAB Headers, (2-1-2/cross-over) looked at them in Daytona (2022 bike week) as well as S&S, Khrome Werks, Cobras, Bassani, and several others - (currently running S&S TDs) I am torn between the TABS & Bassani? All were good, but the 2 I'm considering appear to be more in-line for me. The TABS run $700 & Bassani $469 - not in a rush and cost isn't an issue.
    Thx for the info & keep on keeping on :)

      A Tab 2-2 in chrome is $629 www.tabperformance.com/touring-fl-chrome-exhaust-head-pipe-2-into-2-p/h-d-touring-chrome-head-pipes.htm
      The Bassani is cheaper because it doesn't include new heat shields, you're supposed to re use your stock ones. The Tab is a whole new system with new chrome heat shields.

That is how you get the loudest and the performance . Or put a turbo on it and remove mufflers all together. Turbo will give you all the back pressure you could ever want.

      Are you after sound or performance? Louder isnt faster unfortunately. I would change the headpipe and go stage 2. Its the best bang for the buck.

    By "me and the Misses are going to spend time in the saddle" you do mean that you are riding pillion, right?

    I know this is going to sound stupid, but here we go.
    You said the tab head pipes are compatible with stock, basically a cat delete?
    Wanting to do just that, delete the cat (only).
    Thank you in advance.
    The arguments you have with the bike (chirp) kill me every time! 😂😂😂

      Its not just decatted, it is a smaller diameter pipe. Decatted stock headpipes are bigger than they need to be so the bike never runs as well as it can (I am told).

    Nice! I had no idea that we had that option. Well, I'm in Cali so we don't have MANY options at all. I barely find a business that would deliver TABS to Cali:) Now, I'll have to order these. I had the same question about backpreassure. Great video, as always, and fun;)) I'm waiting for my tabs for my Slim 2020.

    If back pressure equals torque then why change the mufflers at all .. I never see drag bikes or cars running full exhaust..

    You should disable the chirp and see how long it takes the Mrs. to notice

    Would they work, if you are running a stock header? I only have zombie slip-ons.
