    I agree. For a touring/cruising bike, I'd choose the deeper rumble. For a bar hopper, chopper, bobber, etc. the Zombie baffles have a mean bark. Great comparison!!

    I got Tabs thrown in with my new bike purchase! I have 4" Bam Sticks with zombie baffles and have for the last year (5k miles). I then went with the HD Stage 2 (Torque) kit and
    the volume goes up so I just got the 2.5" baffles but have not installed them yet. Good job! We have to promote our great Nebraska companies!!!

  • @bundybear3333
    @bundybear3333 Před 4 lety +3

    Definitely the right decision guys, the medium baffles were my choice too. The medium baffles had a mellower, deeper, rumble than the Zombies. You don't need obnoxiously loud pipes out on the hwy when doing big miles as you're going to have ringing ears by the end of the day. I just fitted S&S superstreet 2 into 1 pipes to my Sportglide and they are a very nice pipe. Nice deep rumble when you wick it up but not annoying around town either. I previously had V& H big shots staggered on my 2012 Fatbob and they left my ears ringing after a extended hwy ride so I did not want to go down that path again at the age of 53 years young.
    Thanks guys, great Vlog. Take care.👍🇦🇺😊

    By far the best review of any I have seen in giving a sound choice of these slip on mufflers. Glad I stumbled on this since living in California you cannot just have crazy loud pipes since the cops are looking to stop riders for this near the So Cal beach areas. Thanks---------------------

    I have a 2016 Heritage Softail. I watched several videos for Vance & Hines, Rineharts and Tab Performance and listened to each. For me, the Tab 2.5's sounded the best so I ordered them. They arrived within about 10 days. They were easy to install. The sound is awesome. My bike now sounds like a Harley. The 2.5's have a low and deep sound and are just loud enough. Highly recommend and very pleased. I have received compliments on the round tips which have a diamond cut look.

      I have the zombie baffles. The passenger noise is really not that bad but I can tell you the tone is not great. They are basically a straight pipe you look through and there is no baffling in the pipe itself it's solid all the way through.

    Probably the best video I have seen on pipes and perspectives. Especially since you included your other half! I can’t begin to tell you all the stuff I have bought for my bikes only to get rid of it later because my wife hated it.
    The one thing I would like to see would be seat comparisons from the wife’s view. I had to buy 3 friggin seats this year! It costs to much to replace her so other perspectives would help.

    I kept the 4" V&H slip ons that came with my bike. I chopped the baffles in half and they were louder but never had that real deep sound that i was after. I took the baffles out completely and im sticking with that. I get loud but not overly loud because i still have the stock head pipes. I actually gained midrange and up tq. You dont lose back pressure because my 2 into 1 into 2 creates its own back pressure because they only 1.75" wide before the mufllers. If you want deep, the bigger inside diameter baffle you get is deeper than say your common 2" inside diameters. If i had a true dual then the bike would be too loud for my music lol. If you have stock head pipes, just get any non tinny (thicker metal) slip ons and take baffles out. You'll thank me later. Good video. Sorry for the long post.

    Great video! After a lot of research, I also went with the Tab medium slip-ons for my 2020 Heritage. If you get on them, they can be loud, or if you need to let a cager know you're there. But, I like the low rumble at idle and the nice growl between shifts...puts a smile on my face.

    I appreciate the review. I have a 2006 Road Glide with Stage 4 upgrade, 88 to 95, plus a long list of other mods. I bought the bike used, with Thunderheader 1024-B long style, black, 2 into 1. They were just too freakin' loud. Folks said they could hear me coming 2 blocks away. Plus, it's parked in an underground cement garage....so everyone knows when I start it up. So, like you, I went with the Tab Performance slip ons. I got the BAM sticks with Medium Baffle 2.50 inch louvered baffles, and, the black 2 into 2 headers. Had to make a few other adjustments cus the bike has a chain drive (not belt). Sounds much better, it's still fairly loud, but not obnoxious.

    Zombie baffles weren't obnoxiously loud, I'm glad you went with the medium louvered baffles :)

      Zombie baffles are loud but they have no tone. After multiple combinations TAB performance sound best without a baffle in my opinion.

    Exactly the video I needed to see. Still running stock pipes and looking for a good highway/touring sound and the medium baffle appears to the one I (and my bride) would choose. Thanks!

    Great video and comparison. I have also run both zombies and the louvered but the best is when you combine them. Put the louvered in the right pipe and the Zombie in the left. Try it out. 😋

    Good comparison of the pipes. Medium would be my choice. It makes comunication between driver and passenger better.

      That was definitely one of our reasons as well since we don't use helmet communications

    I have the Zombies on mine with their headpipe and a cam ( it's loud ) but I want to keep part of that and do like some others have done and just change out just the right side to a louvered baffle .

    I like both but would go with the medium baffle as i really like the low rumble they have. I have the Vance and Hines Monster Oval just for that reason. ride on :-)

    I really liked the louder version but, like the misses said, several years ago... but now they prefer the quieter version. That's what I'd go with. I'm thinking about going with V&H Monster Rounds for my FLHX. Actually my wife wants loud pipes but the ringing in my ears isn't caused by loud amplified music, guns, or anything else except it was loud pipes and probably wind noise combined that did the deed. I want to hear the stereo anyway. My 2 cents.

    Excellent choice for that bike👍 I don’t think some people realize just how much low end torque you lose with the free flowing exhaust!

    • @LifeontheBlacktop
      @LifeontheBlacktop  Před 4 lety +1

      Yeah, my first set of slip ons were the CFR pipes and although loud and low, I had a huge torque loss down low that I could feel. So those came off fairly quickly

    They are really nice looking from a visual stand point. The cut design on the tip is sick. I wonder what the dyno numbers would be between the two baffles? Great review. 🤘🏻👍🏻

    • @LifeontheBlacktop
      @LifeontheBlacktop  Před 4 lety

      From my experience the more free flowing the exhaust, the more of a torque drop you get. You'll lose a little with the zombies, but they do make a ring to put in the end to get back a little torque from what I'm told.

    More info. I put the 50 Cal (5") pipes on with Zombie baffles AND I put the swirled looking torque rings in the back mostly for the look cause those 50 cals are HUGE looking on the back.....I put them on my 2019 Road Glide CVO....They are AWESOME and quite loud.....Fast forward....I just bought another bike, a 2023 Street Glide CVO and decided to put the same 50 Cals on except this time I decided to go with the 2.5 louvered baffles to quiet it down a bit. Sadly I was disappointed, I put them on and had the two bikes side by side and fired em both up...The louvered baffles sounded like a sewing machine hybrid, not much better then stock. SO I ordered the Zombie baffles from Tab and did the change out. now the bike sounds perfect. It would be nice if Tab had a baffle in between that of the Zombie and the 2.5 louvered. And Install....Look, that baffle may pull out that easy on a pipe that has never been installed yet and ran but my bike had about 40 miles on it with the louvered baffles when I changed them out and they were a mother to get out of the casing. Yes, you can bang them to the bottom of the casing but they dont pop out like his did, they get what's known as a heat weld and makes em tight and that last 1/2" when the baffle is flush with the casing at the bottom is when you gotta break out big hammer and crowbar to run inside the baffle to punch it out from the back. Putting the new baffles in wasn't to bad with a little origami and twisting they finally lined up at the top at the same time as lining up with the inner pipe that you have to fit perfectly over. Tip: mark the pigeon the top so its easier to align the holes while youre twisting the baffle to get it in. They sound great and look even better
