At least they are getting pancakes and they don't waste food and jus throw it away.
that isnt shade its just reality
She’s a servant herself though lol
@@HeveanDearest Yes, but she's one of the top tier servants.
@@MaryTheresa1986 you are a supreme person for watching this during COVID
Every time Mrs. Crocombe has something to say about “poor peopleâ€, “not very goodâ€, she looks right into your eyes.
Judgment is Mrs. Crocombe's love language. 😆😆
I can hear the accent in my head as I read this even
Am i the only one who noticed when she flipped the pancake she failed, then they edited it and showed it perfect again. 😂😂😂
Thank goodness someone else noticed.. it was driving me crazy i replayed that like 5 times thinking to myself, "hell nah she failed that so hard."
Petra Tarr i noticed too them im like wait what? Good video's though.
same same same ahhahahah
YES! haha
Petra Tarr I did notice same thing. Probably she didn't want to have bad impression over her viewers.
I can imagine this woman as an actual victorian woman who discovered a camera and a laptop from the future and has the ability to upload videos to the internet.
Am I the only person who thinks he aksent is fake?
#1 lobster **accent
And no it’s not fake per say, it’s more so that she is trying to put on an RP (received pronunciation) accent , which is a nasally accent spoken by the upper class English at the turn of the 20th century to distinguish themselves from the lower classes. It’s still used today (albeit less common) in older people with more traditional upbringings. Her real accent seems to be West Country/Bristolian , and she has several twangs when pronouncing certain words. These are little intricacies they unless you’re English you wont necessarily hear :)
@@Richardushirolumb , actually, i did hear the little intricacies, that's why i thought it was fake.
Kinda like John Maclean
That would be a sick show

Gisela Swaragita I was laughing when they showed the sloppy pancakes and then the perfect pancakes 🥞
mackenzie holsten Not Sloppy what so ever.
They were indeed sloppy!! Had a big hole, was lopsided. While the one's going to the Lady of the house was perfectly round and golden.
She messed up so bad and they don't look like the after lol. Looks good though
I want to hit her with a frying pan ....lady and Lord bay Brook gets pancakes ...servants get leftover bits if the batter . What does she get ? She's also a servant right ...that or she also works as a mistress to grill Lord bay brooks ' xxx.

Just a newfangled servant...

God's child me too.. !
God's child they're very easy to make, we had one at my great aunt's house growing up. we made it using a plan for a small spice rack and drilling large holes in the shelves. I'd recommend making a small insert with thin wood with smaller holes if you're planning on using it to hold home raised eggs since they're not standard in size.
God's child I like her sifter
I'm from the US and I forgot that pancakes form England are much thinner 😂😂
It certainly looks more like a crepe.
By the way, your pancakes are basically versions of our Scottish pancakes.
suzanna Lytle What do you mean a crepe? Nah, the pancakes in my country are thin like this as well. The only pancakes that aren't thin seem to be in the USA. The first time I saw a pancake USA style I was confused why it was so thick.
@@MicukoFelton Australia has variations of pancakes. I think most people here would say this is a crepe (probably to thr horror of the French) and our pancakes are more like fluffy American/US standard ones. :)
Lauren Fry That's interesting. In Bulgaria we only have 1 type of pancake. It's the one we see in this video. If we have to translate it in English we'd say pancake.
I cannot believe its 2022 and the first time we ever discovered this wonderful woman was 7 years ago in 2015! My goodness!! How time flies.

Gosh...I love her. She makes me smile every time she says hello to the camera. (To us) “we must get on...its Tuesday and there are pancakes to make.†Lol. Yes!
Get cracking! No time for dilly-dallying!
Wow! I found this by accident, this lady could almost be an actress..though her clothes are what servants of the time would wear. Overall very nice I will watch more videos from the,.
Thank you Jaycet! If you enjoyed this video, make sure you subscribe to our channel for more.
Well... Technically she is servant, but a head servant
BellRain Chan that's the point lol no lady of the household would be cooking unless they were poor. She's meant to be a servant.
BellRain Chan she is a servant. she's always talking about how she's making all these meals for her "lady" which is basically her master
BellRain Chan at 3:39 she says and for us servants so she is supposed to be wearing what a servant would wear
Those pancakes for "Lord and Lady" are from Tesco's.
She kept the homemade for the "servants" or for the bin...
finished propduct was def not home made lol
Ha! I'm glad I'm not the only one who spotted that. They've that tell-tale spongy texture of the store-bought variety!
The real cooks and foodies sees that directly, there absolutely dont look homemade :P
Tesco pancakes are nasty
Looool was thinking the same thing
PLS GIVE THIS LADY HER OWN SERIES! I can watch and listen to her for days.
The Victorian Way IS her Series.
"Well Hello, we must get on"
Oh God, I'm already in trouble.
I feel like i was in Jane Austen's books! Amazing!
Except, unlike today, at 0:28, the Victorian English didn't begin sentences with, "So..."
Jane Austen's society is accurately set in the regency period / Georgian era tho
Jane Austen's books are not set in the Victorian era.
edit: credits to a levels english lmao
I made them today for breakfast :) I was craving pancakes but didn't have baking powder and remembered watching this on my victorian era youtube marathon. It's actually quite good. Doesn't taste like your typical pancakes of course. I was actually quite surprised that sugar went very well with it since I'm too used to maple syrup in my pancakes. Really nice recipe :)
Thanks Paula! We're really happy that they turned out tasty :)
You use Baking powder in your pancakes? ok cool that's new to me I can see people doing that but I have never seen a recipe that calls for it. :)
Kiralea Swan yes! it makes them rise-baking soda is a levener (spelling?). thus, you get fluffy pancakes, rather than flat, crêpe like pancakes. try it sometime, i bet youll love it!!! [:
This type of pancake with sugar or jam (not syrup) is a completely normal European pancake. Nothing strange about it really :)
Paula Ahn Lemon and sugar and nice as well.
Mrs. Crocombe using some editing magic to cover up that failed pancake toss LOL ðŸ˜

I quite simply ADORE Shrove Tuesday. A lovely time of the year to reflect on the quaint qualities of pancakes, and the whimsy nature of light sugar and delicate lemon. Truly divine.
I say! What a splendid post! I pray that you post more often !! You certainly made us want to reflect on all things virtuous! :D
Those are called 'crêpes'' in france, that's the way we make them ^^ There's even a tradition that consists in making crêpes on the ''chandeleur'', which is today ! (in my school we had students making some today :3)
Thank you for sharing! We hope the students had fun making them.
They seem quite different from our crêpes though. Our crêpes are a lot thinner and softer I think.
Pieulpe Most probably the French crêpes took a little trip to Brazil ages ago because that's how we make pancakes here too 😄
Pieulpe they are called palaÄinke in Serbian and are the best when they are filled with Nutella, grounded Plazma (Plazma can be found by the name of Lane in the rest of the world) and cinnamon. mmmm....
Pieulpe What do you mean by "chandeleur"?
I love so much the storyline and background and how her traditional way to cook

They showed a documentary about the different clothing styles of England since the 16th century to the present on TV and from there I started watching different videos about the Victorian era, including this one. It's been two weeks.
Send help, I can't stop.
Joking aside, this recipe seems even easier than the instant pancake mixes they sell these days. Just eggs, milk and flour and they're ready to go. I've always wanted copper kitchenware, but it's a bit expensive in the stores where I've seen the sets.
