+taledarkside Actually, it was Bill Gates who stole from Steve Jobs in the early days after Gates was hired to do some programming for them. Then he modelled Windows on the Apple operating system. That's just one reason why Apple spent so much time and money suing Microsoft. They have a complicated history: it was also Bill Gates who bailed out Apple right after Jobs returned. Microsoft was really looking after their Apple software investment (aka Office for the Mac) by keeping Apple alive. But that's just business, and the two men had a deep respect for each other until the end.

Tim Cook is absolutely right! The DOJ and FBI are being very narrow minded in their approach. Im a British consumer and buy a lot of Apple products. Millions of Apples customers (most of which are outside the US incidentally) buy Apple because of their quality, their care and ultimately their culture of serving and protecting the customer. It means hundred of millions of people put their trust in their devices to store all their personal information. Other companies like Google, Samsung, Microsoft are famous for monitoring what people are doing, saying, watching, their location and make a tidy profit selling this data on, and I'm not surprised if terrorists (and its not just ISIS or Taliban but Terror states like Iran / North Korea) are already syphoning the internet for this data.
It is very sad of what happened to the victims, infact all victims of Terror related incidents, but the course of action that Apple is facing like Tim said has catastrophic knock on affects. Tim said that its a hot debate that should be discussed by the American people, the President and Congress. I disagree! This affects the many more hundreds of millions of people around the world and therefore this debate should be discussed at the next UN meeting and in the context of Security Counsel.
I sincerely hope that the DOJ and FBI see common sense and instead of fighting this case for what "might be" on this phone to work with Apple, with civil liberty groups, legislation organisations, and encryption organisations to explore further.
Because if they get this wrong and legally force Apple's hand to build this back door, I sincerely hope that those in question forcing this issue can answer the world when nearly a billion people have their financial data stolen that ultimately crashes the worlds banking system, causes Terrorist States like North Korea, Iran and many others to know every detail we have... Yes that is the extreme, but its a very possible extreme, and one Tim Cook and Apple are quite right in defending. #ImwithTim

The annoying thing about explaining technology is explaining it to someone who doesn't have at least the fundamental understanding of it. You put up so much effort to boil down the complexity of the issue, yet they still don't get the full picture of it - so they can only ask you the same question again and again

I am with Tim Cook on this one. You have the right to view your information and only you. It’s not right if Apple lets the government breach anyone’s phone for any reason because it’s a breach of privacy and morally wrong. We have the right to not be spied on being undressed by the government so why can’t we use our phone in private.

I'm with Mr. Cook on this. If they do write this your privacy is gone... whatever privacy there's left.
