    Okay, come on guys, this ain't fair at all. Driver experience nothwithstanding, the Type R has way wider tires (275 vs 245)-- that's a huge advantage even before the power mods, suspension mods, etc.. Don't sell yourself or the Elantra N short Sungzilla! Fantastic performance. See the Savage Geese video comparing a stock FL5 type R to a stock Elantra N (both manual) on the same tires, same driver, same track, same day and the lap times are within 1/10 of second of each other.

    The Elantra N is so impressive. My brother in law has a stock 2025 Mustang GT and he lost to a slightly modified Elantra N on a track last weekend. In fact, the Elantra N beat just about everyone on the track that day. It’s such an impressive performance sedan.

    Nonetheless it was a good race, you can see the performance of these cars, the EN definitely best bang for your buck at $35K~ MSRP, even with the GRC coming to MSRP its $40-45K (not counting core edition) and CTR if you can find them at MSRP starting $45K.

      EN works better with the square setup, so going to 255 tires all round, would have closed the gap. @@jpizel1070 oh you made another good point, technically the EN DCT driver is at a disadvantage then because if you watch the video he uses paddle shifters (extended shifters on the mods list), DCT is quick but if you use the paddles it has a slight response delay, its good but not porsche lightning speed, the advantage the EN driver does have is he can keep two hands on the wheel for more stability rather than rowing the gears.. but again the DCT in manual mode is not as responsive as people would think, in this case if the Elantra driver had MT, tune, and larger tires he wouldve won

The car is amazing for the price. The Type R is a great car, but the history and ethos of the car means nothing today. Hyundai really stepped it up and I chose it over the R bc of the car-scalping stealership mark-ups. After they are done marking the price up, even the Civic SI was 35k! Edit: after watching the entire video & reading some comments, I still stand by my words. Oh boy everyone be hating on the Civic. Saying things like beat by only 1 second blah blah blah. 1 second is a lot in the racing world. It's true that the Civic had more stuff on it but everyone is forgetting that a race is a race. One person is going to have the upper hand in any competitive scenario & in this case, it was Jose with the track experience, bigger tires, probably race alignment, etc. You can't complain/argue about the other guy being "less" whether it be in preparation or what you bring to the fight because only children argue to recognize that type of comparison. We all want the underdog to win but c'mon, it's a Hyundai Lol. Took them long enough to get this far, & they were close, but being close is never good enough in terms of winning.

      EN comes in 6spd manual as well and the DCT def counts as a "drivers car." It's the closest thing to a real life racing Sequential. No modern performance cars are true manual at their peak, and if you think that it's the primary criteria for being considered an 'enthusiasts car', then you're deluded.
      Might as well argue that any modern manual that has synchros, Rev matching, and electronics doesn't count either. Which is literally every manual car now. They're not purely mechanical and easier to clutch than older cars.

      @ardyshane23 So I guess every manual in the world is a drivers car and it's somehow impressive even though most senior citizens know how to row a couple gears? Get a fcking grip. A proper Dual Clutch transmission is what makes for a modern performance oriented drivers car no matter how hard you try to deny it.
      And there's Manual options for the N cars anyway, so idk why you're so concerned about what is and what isn't for enthusiasts.
      The shear arrogance on you lot, thinking you can gatekeep cars just because you like pushing on a clutch and playing with a stick all day. Manuals are fun, but they're not the pinnacle of engagement. It's an older and less efficient way to do the same exact thing that any sped can do with a car.

    • @ardyshane23
      @ardyshane23 Před měsícem

      @@NGSMODEa car that drives for you is not a “drivers car.” You are correct, electronic nannies do take away from a car being a drivers car, and so does a DCT. A drivers car doesn’t have to be the fastest, it simply will engage with the driver the most requiring driver input and giving accurate feedback. A DCT removes one of the most important and skillful driver inputs and electronic aids take over the driver input and numb the feedback. There are plenty of arguments proving autos and electronics make cars faster, but good luck explaining how it increases driver engagement.
