1995 would be the start of a new era of Bond films which I refer to as 'The Brosnan Age'. Co-starring Judi Dench, Sean Bean, Izabella Scorupco, Famke Janssen, Alan Cumming, Robbie Coltran, Joe Don Baker and Desmond Llewelyn. I take a look at the debut of Pierce Brosnan as James Bond 007 in GoldenEye. This is Part One.
I made this project back in 2011. Since then I've had issues with it being taken down. This is somewhat annoying and it's been absent from my channel for a long time. So I've attempted to do some re-editing and tweaking to it with the hopes that maybe it will be allowed to stay up and available to watch here - at least for awhile.
#jamesbond #goldeneye
I agree - Dalton deserved a 3rd outing.
Fun fact about the Goldeneye video game - the N64 has trouble running Goldeneye at a perfect framerate when there are too many polygons on screen. By looking down at the ground or up at the sky, Bond can run faster because there are less polygons to render. Speedrunners use this trick to get faster times. That's why when you watch speedruns, the player typically runs looking at the floor and ignores everyone shooting at them.
To me Brosnan has the quintessential Bond look. A blend of suave charisma and athletic prowess. He’s Sean Connery plus Daniel Craig. And Goldeneye is easily my favorite Bond film. This movie just has everything you need for a perfect Bond film.
i loved that doco and always go back to it every couple of years when i do a bond marathon,, it was a shame to see giant chunks of your doco being removed .. should be seen by more people.
I was lucky being born in the 70s so i got to see 3 actors portraying james bond. i got to say timothy dalton was really good
You've been so gone! The return of the king!
So happy you decided to pick back up your Bond series. Loved it all.
Brosnan to me was a mesh of all the other Bonds. Connery’s smoothness, Moore’s humor, Lazenby’s toughness, and Dalton’s intensity. I feel like his Bond never got to shine properly because of the scripts and movies he was in. None never had what GoldenEye had.
I love all of your points about Natalya. She is such a great Bond girl and is one of the reasons why Goldeneye is still one of my favourite Bond films. She is one of the best Bond girls ever.
Just brought a N64 last weekend with Goldeneye & 1 controller, Purchased 2 additional controllers on eBay and looking forward to having a session this weekend.
Pierce Brosnan first Irish fellowship to enter Hollywood! Lean tall slim magnetic attraction active quick-tempered for foes but cool with damsels !
Brosnan is great and goldeneye was fantastic.
Bronson was so good as bond he deserved so much better. I do enjoy tomorrow never dies its just but his films just got worse and worse. Goldeneye is the only really good one that hold up after all these years. That's a true credit to martin Campbell the director. As for Dalton I don't really care he had the opportunity to reprise his role in goldeneye but declined.
Golden Eye was a landmark title in gaming. One of the most influential games around. FPS games as they are today, would not exist without Golden Eye. Interesting how one of the first 3D videogame tie ins of a movie, would become a genre defining title and all the subsequent games would never come close to matching it's quality.
For me Brosnan is Bond. His movies may have been questionable but he had the best video games.

Are going to get a document of Spectre from
I gotta ask, will you release your Spectre review before or after No Time to Die is out?
First saw Goldeneye on opening weekend in November 1995. First Bond I saw at the cinema and I remember being disappointed. Why? Because a week before seeing this film, I finally watched the two Dalton films back to back. To cut a long story short Dalton shaped my view of Bond and made me a bigger fan than what I initially was. Started reading the novels and I pretty much became biased in my viewpoint. 25 years on Goldeneye reluctantly is my tenth favourite Bond film, its got a good plot, antagonist, McGuffin, and one of my favourite Bond girls to date, Natalya NOT Xenia... find her so annoying. Mind you I am tempted to swap it around with Tomorrow Never Dies, that film is just colossal fun.
i GOT OFF WORK ON A SATURDAY AFTERNOON TO SEE THE LIVING DAY LIGHTS. I went by myself .as I wanted to absorb the new bond
