The asterisk prints the total of your addition.
The equals serves only for when you use % ÷ or ×.
    Basic operation is as follows:
    Assuming one starts from zero
If you type a value, such as 150, and hit plus, the machine understands you have a positive balance of 150, and divides that by 100, because it's primarily for financial calculations, thus displaying 1.50. Suppose you type 200 then plus, that'll add 2.00 more to the displayed balance. If you type 50 and then minus, it'll subtract 0.50 from the sum. If you were to hit the asterisk after that, it would display the total sum, in my hypothetical world, that'd be 3.00.
    Hope my explanation made sense.

I get it! I might have a play with it again!

backofficeshow Oh! And the #/diamond button prints the total of the sum without finishing the operation. For instance: 1.50+> 2.00+> 0.50-> #/diamond will show 3.00 on the paper. If you type a new number, say 1.00+, it will add to the operation. Whereas * will display the total and finish the operation. If you had 3.00 after *, you would have to type + in order to restart the operation with the positive balance of 3.00.
#/diamond is a "partial sum" of sorts. Once again, hope that made sense.
My source: I worked with one of those in my uncles small grocery store ;D.

Had something like this a long time ago. 5/4 is about rounding up/down at 2 decimals. GT means grand total, which is stored,. With Set you can set date, tax rate, etc. That what I remember anyway.

Wauw, there even is a pdf online for this old beast! Just had to know the function of the left slider. I never used it. It's for the number of decimals. Do remember I used regular black inkpad ink to rejuvinate the printer, being the cheapskate I am. Worked a treat though.
