I love Jake The Snake! A Legend!!! A man with haunting words and a stare that’ll scare ya to death!
Thank God for Dallas for helping him and giving us more time with a living legend.
Jake is better alone!!!! This podcast is going to get better
"I could cultivate her into something that even I could want." Point me to a line uttered by a heel any time since this took place that holds a candle to something even half as good. Go on. I'll wait.
Man that Tuesday in Texas when he grabs Elizabeth that audience was ready to explode....then he hit her and they get even louder. I don't know how he got to his car that night lol
Jake Roberts' interview after this match still gives me the chills...
The art of being a heel peaked with that promo. It was cold as hell. Masterful.
@@adamspark9259 Yep. I've said forever it's the greatest heel promo ever and it's not even close. The whole angle was amazing and I was a little kid that still thought wrestling was real then and man I was horrified when he put the cobra on Macho Man. Then slapping Elizabeth was the icing on the cake. Also don't forget how great Monsoon and Heenan were on commentary during and after it. They basically kept talking about it even during the Bulldog and Warlord match and Heenan was sorta defending Jake. Seriously awesome time for heels. No other era since has even been close to that. It's actually what wrestling has been missing for about 30 years now.
@@SimpleManGuitars1973 Yeah, totally agree. I miss those days. As much as Attitude gave the WWF a shot in the arm after the atrocious new generation, it did not hold a candle to that period. THAT was pro wrestling. Once Jake left, it was like someone let the air out of their tires. They've never recovered. 1992 was the turning point.
One of if not his best
Not hating on DDP at all but I honestly enjoyed this way more with just Jake. Marcus is respectful and knowledgeable. Great episode guys!
could listen to jake tell stories for hours.
Morning Jake your story telling is top notch ,of course you already knew that...🤣🤣
This is so great! I love Jake and can never get enough of him. I miss seeing him on AEW programming so damn much. His best feuds were definitely with Rick Rude and Randy Savage. Jake Roberts was just as compelling a babyface as he was a heel, and that's not something just anyone can pull off. I prefer heel Jake, but love any Jake I can get. He looks tremendous and is living his best life now and I'm so happy for him and so elated that he's back with Cheryl. In the end, it all fell back in place. God bless him! And Jake; you've still got it in spades! Trust me. 🐍
Love listening to Jake, best story teller of all time!!! So glad he got his life back together and especially glad he was able to rebuild his life with his family. ❤️🙏❤️
One of
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Jake Roberts and Arn Anderson made me believe their promos even though I knew in the back of my mind wrestling was scripted. Jake could have been a successful movie actor if he wanted to. Such charisma!
The two best DDTs of all time
I've wrestled a broom stick hahaha omg I'm in tears. That was awesome
I’m becoming a regular viewer of jakes podcast. I love it. Big respect for Jake and him navigating his ups and downs in life. I know he won’t see this comment but if he does just wanna say thank you Jake Roberts for being the man that you are and showing us that you should never quit on yourself, ever.
daaam what a legacy. back in the days of Kayfabe. So awesome. When Jake broke the Ultimate Warrior that was my favorite vignettes ever. I love how he never raised his voice in promos, hes spot on.
Bruh....when he does the Macho man impression!!😂😂😂😂
Jake is absolutely AWESOME .. no doubt about it and my FAVORITE wrestler of ALL-TIME 🐍
13:22 Died twice laughing at Jake's 'Macho Man Freaking T.F. out'!... 😅😅heard it once; rewind; playback 😂😂😂☠☠
Great show. Loved it. Thank you. Keep em coming!🐍🐍🐍
This podcast is a breath of fresh air. Keep ‘em coming Jake. I could lose ten to you talk about the business all day long. I know you’re only one episode in but I think I found my new favorite wrestling podcast.
Can’t wait to see more!
Been waiting for this man to start one of these...for a long while
Hooyah Jake 🤘
Jake 91 shouldve won the WWF Championship at Summerslam...Love Jake 91
Agree Jake 91 + early 92 was prob my fav Jake.
My favorite Jake Roberts/Undertaker segment ever was the one where Jake was a guest on The Funeral Parlor and questioned Paul Bearer and 'Taker re: why Undertaker stopped him from hitting Elizabeth with a chair after she and Randy Savage came through the curtain on Saturday Night's Main Event. Jake would end up locking Undertaker's hand in the sealed casket and DDT'ing Paul Bearer on the floor, and then proceeded to give 'Taker chair shot after chair shot as The Deadman kept rising back up, dragging the casket behind him! It was unforgettable and lead to their match at Wrestlemania VIII.
the only thing that i wished during this time, was that Jake got himself involved in Taker's business......aka......Hogan. Jake always had Taker around to 'meddle' with the Warrior and Sid and Savage.....but when Taker attacked Hogan on the parlor.....i thought it would have been cool if Jake came out and got involved too.
but yes, definitely in the top 5 most memorable Funeral Parlors of all time. Top 3 even. Im sure you could probably guess the others.
Jake, I had to go watch your match with Flair from OKC... That was absolute greatness. You made it so much more than a typical Flair match. Excellent work there, man. After seeing you as a heel in World Class in 84, it is cool to see that crowd so behind you at OKC a year later.
Love this! Would really like to hear what is going on with Jake with regards to AEW --- know he's still on their roster, but what does his future with AEW look like? Will he come back as a manager again? The transfer of the MurderHawk didn't seem to go over so well (he's without a manager now?) Will Jake maybe team up somehow with MJF???? That would be awesome!
It's great hearing all the back stories leading up to the matches I grew up watching.
awesome show Jake, thank you for the great memories.
I was 5 when they had that match and I was already a die hard Jake fan still say he was the best in the business when it came to promos and Def one of the best workers ever keep killing it man God bless
Love Jake's storytelling! Been a wrestling fan since 73!!
I’m from Tampa and I remember my parents talking about the Santa attacks from the Tribune article. My mother was saying, “What kind of people attack someone dressed as Santa Clause?” My dad just mumbled something like “f**king punks”. I had no clue at the time it was because of one of my future favorite wrestlers Jake the Snake Roberts 😆
This storyline is for the books! It has Adam, Eve and a Snake. Snake captures the prince and the damsel in distress. Redemption follows.
Glad to see. Jake doing well and his own podcast more power to ya brother👍 keep it up one of the best wrestlers and chracters ever
Holy shit! That intro rocks. A funny story (funny to me at least). I vividly remember 'this tuesday in texas'. i was about 8 when it came out on vhs. As a child of divorce, money was tight growing up and I remember my dad gave me like $40 to hand over to my mom when he had weekend custody. As a FU to my dad, I told my mom I found the money and wanted to go rent that WWF Tuesday in Texas tape in the worst way. What ever was my 8 year old brain thinking? Totally not worth the ass whooping that came later.
Little extra note; the very first bit is a Pink Floyd quote from The Wall 😎
ass whippins need to become trendy again. :)
but yea you are right, the card wasnt worth the $40. $20 maybe. with $20 to spare for food and snacks. :)
@The Snake Pit with Jake Roberts
That Survivor Series promo was great & the Pre & Post Match Tuesday In Texas promos were epic
The cobra story never gets old! Cannot say I blame Savage for wanting to see Jake get bit first. Reasonable request.
Its life and death...
It's not a reasonable request because Savage suggested the spot not Jake. If Savage had a problem with it don't do it or go to the true snake handler.
Love hearing jake just tell the stories. I did like the ddp episodes to but jake just rolling is great
Love this.
Jake was Grunge and Metal and Punk , before anyone, Sam Houston with his talent could be World Champion nowadays. Robin made mark as top talent 👏 Great matches, he was believable.
to have seen jake take the powerbomb from Sid would have been something. likewise for the DDT to Sid.
my favorite wrestler of all time
This man is just a legend in the Wrestling entertainment buisness, late 91/early 92 was some good stuff, I believe everything happens for a reason and not wrestling the Warrior (bar the money) was probably a blessing in disguise.
Honestly just like hulk vs snake..this match wud b a mismatch..warrior is riot in the ring and the snake just slithers...🐍
You might not be able to get away with the slap that Jake gave Elizabeth in today's climate, but the stuff Jake did in AEW early on with Brandi Rhodes was pretty edgy and intense as well! I thought it was pretty memorable stuff.
hit a DDT on Liz like he did Dark Journey. Im sure it was in the plan if it werent for Liz's family giving Savage total smoke even for the slap.
I love Jake. One of the great heels - hardly anybody could get heat like be did. I re-watched his documentary the other day and I wanted to jump around and yell when I saw how well he was working through his demons and his triumphant return to the WWE.
53:01 fav promo ever and that last promo post Tues in TX right next to it
I got 3 questions for Jake, none of which were covered in the episode.
1. In the Summerslam 1991 preview magazine (which I still have), the match listed is Jake "The Snake" Roberts and Andre The Giant vs The Natural Disasters (Earthquake and Typhoon). I know Damien got squashed by John Tenta/Earthquake ( who ironically I talked to about a week before he passed away) leading in to the event and they did the injury angle with Him and Andre on t.v. where he attacked Andre's knee and left him on crutches. I think it aired on superstars. How long did Jake know the tag match with Andre was off the table before Vince met with him about working with Warrior?
2. Ric Flair in numerous interviews has said that Randy and Liz were at the breaking point of their marriage by the time he worked with them at WrestleMania 8. She was involved in that angle as well. So i'm curious if Jake saw any friction between them during this time? Since it only would've been what? 4 months before?
3. Sid said coming in to WWF, he was supposed to slowly be pushed in to the Hogan spot aka the top babyface , and that before he tore his tricep or whatever the original plans were for him to be the one to take the snake bite instead of Randy as a part of that build. Does Jake think that we'd still be talking about this 32 years later if the segment happened with Sid instead or that Sid would've even done it in the first place?
Who can cut a promo like him? No one
Welp, I guess I know what show I'll be listening to now.
Jake should have done an angle where he thought he was Randy Savage. Randy vs Randy. Would have been great,
Well it's about time
1:12:30 that's a very small subtle detail in the art of storytelling in pro wrestling. Jake Roberts is awesome!
Loved Jake until he turned on Warrior, then this angle made me despise him!! Lol, he did his job better than anyone! Love this episode!!
Can you cover:
Ddt'ing dark journey
And cover your run with Humongous. I wanna know all the details that went into those runs. And a midsouth show
Jake starting to look Wilford Brimley. Love him!!
Is there a reason why there is only sound and no video for the Promo?
The 🐐
I missed a few episodes so forgive me if it was discussed. What happened to DDP?
Id like to know that also
I think ddp just had too bust of a schedule to do the show with ddp yogavand more.
I subscribed but you can give the toy to someone who doesn’t have a bunch to clean up already “pops..”
lol “pops”
Sean Oliver needs to get on board this podcast. Jake needs a strong host along with him. This host leaves alot to be desired.
He’s awesome foh
@@BEEFSERPENT yeah okay.. are you the host?
Agree - he didn’t even know difference between Saturday Night Live & Sat Nights Main Event
This host is good and very respectful to a legend like Jake. Not sure why you would have an issue with the host
Sean is doing kevin Nash's podcast called "kliq this "
Flair didn't steal the belt. Herd refused to return the $25,000 "deposit" Champions had to put up when they held the title, so he took the belt with him. Jake would have done the same thing if they were withholding his 25k.
🐐
I have a question for Jake the Snake. Do you think the real reason that the Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan match at WrestleMania 8 didn't happen is because of the similar situation with him and Hulk not happening. That in the house shows fans were cheering for him and Flair instead of Hulk Hogan?
I November This Tuesday in Texas
Guess Jake doesn’t know that the NWA had Flairs deposit held hostage
Ric flair had 30 k retainer on wcw belt when he jumped to wwf. . Once he got his check ur never seen belt again. It was back on wcw.
Research.
Exactly. If Ric stole the belt, they could've had the police come after him.
Jake the snake roberts is my favorite wrestler of all time should have been a world champion in the wwe
Why is Jake's face so red?
What's amazing is even with all his demons & troubles we still remember the snake as one of the greatest total wrestlers ever some are only good in the ring but can't talk or the other way around but Jake could do both and Jake is a big man at least 6/5 and when he has the mic in his hand you believe what he says if not for his troubles he would be booking the WWF
😮No DDP? Whyyyy? Hope it wasn't a falling out?.......Welcome back to the original Snake Pit 🐍none-the-less!🤟
No falling out think ddp just has too many irons in the fire right now
@@BEEFSERPENT Thanks!👌Almost shocking having him drop out and the website change in a flash?!
Would love to know some of Jake"s favorite BBQ
Jake the snake Roberts all round talent great mind should pushed
I think I liked it better with ddp and Conrad but I’ll listen anyways
What happened to DDP?
Schedule conflict most likely.
Because of the original show, the podcast was about Jake and not DDP, it was a bad format and not only that, DDP has more things going on and can't be apart the podcast anymore so it was easier to start a new show with just simply Jake.
HES BUSY
DDP is a busy dude
Jake. Could cut a great promo. Great on the stick. 🎤. ……. 🐍. 💯
Not Saturday Night Live Jake. Lol
So what happened to DDP a falling out or just left to allow Jake to have a solo show?
Why would the host not correct him and say “you mean Saturday Nights Main Event,” - Not SNL!
Flair didn't steal that belt. WCW owed him for a deposit he paid and were giving him shit about returning that.
Marcus is an awesome host right up there with conrad and sean imo
Haters can kick rocks and go watch something else
Plus he looks like turtle from entourage so that’s another w imo
what happened to dally? u guys fighting?
Where is the Yoga Man ?
Mjf. Is the closest thing to the rowdy. Roddy piper 👋
He so is rowdy roddy piper would have loved him too.
Jake could speak softly and still scare you
If Jake is calling his podcast, "The Snake Pit" what is DDP gonna call his podcast now? Is Page hosting his podcast solo now?
I dont think ddp is gonna do another podcast…… hes probably to busy with ddp 🧘🏻♀️ yoga
If he did I believe he would call it the diamond exchange or the diamond mine
Puttin a shooter in the ring with another shooter wouldnt have went over well lmao im 1 thatd brought "other things" in my tights...
Wwe making a full ppv an ad for a small tuesday night ppv will go down as 1 of the dumbest things ever done by a wrestling company
I also never got why people called the WWF "cartoon" back in the day. There where wrestlers at that time that where giving it there all. Putting there bodies on the line. Nothing cartoon about that.
Compared to the other wrestling programming, it did seem that way. I didn't mind it however.
WTF???? Respect for older wrestlers???
Since when? Members of AEW have flat out stated they dont listen to anything veterans tell them since they(vets) didnt do same style they(aew roster) do today.
Jake, you’re lucky I didn’t get you at Wrestlemania or I would’ve beat your ass some more. Btw WWF messed up not taking this match to Wrestlemania, job Savage did coming out at Royal Rumble 1992 and eliminating himself showed the hate he had developed for the snake man. They had more meat on that bone and should’ve kept the storyline going. Savage was the BEST!
Id have fought ol skinny "macho" man in a heartbeat then hooked cobra to him... he never intimidated anyone just made em laugh... anyone named after a gay song is a joke in my book... 😂
Who was the Bozo to separate Jake from Diamond?
Probably DDP being way too busy with movies,DDPY,and other projects
If ya missed it, Jon NY guy podcaster asked DDP and Snake if they wanted to promote their cameo services. DDP (basically) responded with he’s way too busy to even continue doing his cameo stuff. When I heard that, it was a strong hint of things to come.
Aew is garbage , let’s stick with the subject
I was interested in this podcast. And then they literally start off by talking about current day wrestling. Complete turnoff for me. Sorry, but I don't care what any of these guys care about current day wrestling. I tune in to hear them talk about their careers. When will the people in charge of these shows understand this very simple concept?
Because not everyone wants to hear the old stuff. Which is why Jim Cornette is still making a living with his podcast. Also, Jake is still involved in modern day wrestling .....there is a fast forward button for a reason man, just give it a chance.
Usually it's just for a few minutes not the whole show. It's your loss.
This is his career = he's still part of AEW. I like being able to hear his thoughts on the current day wrestlers. He could be a manager to any of them any day in the future!
@@continentalflyer9596 huh? This podcast is based on the old stuff. So that makes no sense.
Go watch something else and shut up then
AEW sucks. Plz keep it to WWE or you’ll lose me real fast. Thnx.
Great product great podcast of a j Robinson and the macho Man
Why isn't DDP doing it anymore?
Jake >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> sockhead
Orlando the "Red Pepper" Smith
Quote from pink Floyd. Nice.
Why is this liar so red hahahah
