the first case and powersupply I bought were from Antec. Back in the day they were the top of the line brand for cases and powersupplies. They made great stuff.
in the past , they are not the same now Ming-Jong bouth them and the quality and service drop so mutch
Yup Antec was the benchmark back then when it came to cases.
@@vandermitch5146 i didn’t know that. Thanks to let me know.
Like how long ago? Remember when CPU's went from using 5v to 12v in the 90's? Yeah, Antec wasn't on board with that and didn't make power supplies with sufficient amps on the 12v rail so adding a second hard drive would overload the rail and prevent booting. Been boycotting Antec since.
I still have and Antec build sitting on the floor right here (with old components). Their black ("piano black") concert type was designed to be very quiet. Just what I wanted.
Antec was one of those brands that we all kinda forgotten, my early builds was always with Antec cases. Good to see that they're still around making good gear.
I got an Antec Signature Series PSU 1300w recently. It's premium quality. Very impressive.
Same. The 900 was one of my go-to cases back in the day. It's funny how they get basically no advertisement/attention here in the US much anymore. They've been coming out with new stuff, but apparently US tech-tubers don't care that much, lol.
@@kasper_429 Well tech reviewers don't just go around searching for cases to review. Its the companies' jobs to send their cases to youtubers and offer to sponsor their episodes. The reason why Phanteks and LianLi are so dominant is because they ensure that everyone and their mother gets a review sample. Heck, LianLi went a step further and recruited a youtuber (de8our) to help design their O11 dynamic case, which has now become too dominant in the pc building world.
@@kasper_429 So true. It took a lot of searching to find reviews on Antec P120 Crystal that I currently have now.
I honestly thought they stopped making cases. I just built a new PC and would have gone for an Antec if I knew they were still around. Loved them back in the day.
i usually don't like when everyone starts talking about the same product at the same time, but this case is too damn good looking and apparently efficient to pass up, every video on it is just top tier.
That's how every single product release is. Marketing coordinates sending samples to reviewers and all of them have the same NDA/embargo date, so there is an emphasis to get the reviews out ASAP, as it's a hot product and that will catch the most views. Not as many people are going to watch a review of a product months after launch.
This is really nice. It's still, however, annoying that a 90° angle fit the 4090 is required to put the side panel on. But that's easily fixed.
The Hyte Y40 is my case and my favorite if you want a compact case that honestly doesn't have thermal issues with the 4xxx series GPUs. But if you want access to the other PCIE slots, the Y40 isn't the one.
Lol! You should see my 2 Antec cases. The wood accents really make it pop. The P160W was Silver with Red Cedar that replaced the front and the DP502 is White with a Red Cedar strip on one side.
same
One of my favorite cases was an Antec 900, that case was WAY ahead of its time and very reasonably priced too. Nice to see Antec is still in the game.
I still have two 900"s and use one of them for my main system!
I still have the 900. It's my wife's system now. It had an Antec power supply too until I upgraded her to a Ryzen 5600. It was 14 or 16 years old, older than our marriage. RIP PSU.
I have three 900s still running.Very few others from that era will give you room for 6 3.5 and 3 5.25 drives bays. Each has seen 3 or 4 builds but I went Corsair 5000 for the 5900X so it could be water cooled.
i got the 1200 not found anything to replace it solid and works
I still have mine as my main PC. Upgraded the front panel to USB3 and I live in fear of the top fan failing and trying to find a replacement. Its a great case, anything fits in it, and it breathes really well without making any noise.
I''m still using an Antec 1200 I got in 2010. I've always loved the look of it.
I got this case three weeks ago and fell in love.
Still rocking a heavily modified Antec Fusuon case for my home server and I am still amazed by the build quality and customisation options they had in 2008. Great comeback I guess since they've been gone from the PC case scene for a while.
I loved my Antec p183. I really need to modify it and bring it back to use. I am using an ENZO case for my current system, and it's really choked off from air. I believe my old computer was happy in the p183. I am glad to see Antec is still keeping up with their designs. It's nice to see an older company surviving in a market that is flooded by so many foreign companies!
I built 4-5 systems in the late 90s and early 2000s with Antec cases. Good to see them around, after having their case designs fall behind for so long.
Everyone is doing cases now. Antec seems to be back into "the game" now. But there are so many good references now, I hardly see Antec become once again the "benchmark" to beat when it comes to cases.
Still I love seeing more and more full tower cases since I'll only buy those now, once you got with the comfort of full tower cases, it's hard to go back.
Antec have really made a comeback in recent years. Its great to see my thoughts about their cases confirmed by Jay. Also good to see you venturing off the Lian Li path for a change.
I remember the first enthusiast case I ever bought was an Antec. It kept its value quite well even when I resold it. High quality stuff. This case looks great!
Pretty cool case. The front reminds me of Fractal Torrent while the case itself has that G500A vibe to it.
Hopefully I can get one on where I live, because this might be a contender case for my future build(s)
I was thinking the same thing! The front definitely has a Torrent vibe to it...
My 2nd PC build (2010) used an Antec 900. Absolutely loved this case and ended up using it's upgraded V2 on 3 other builds for a small office. They are still in use today. Sadly the original case's big boy 200mm fan died, which was a pretty key feature.
Hey, I had an Antec P182. Only upgraded from it within the past couple of years. It was a solid build.
I'm a fan of how this build looks! My current setup is blacked out 100%. I haven't heard about Antec products in SUCH A LONG TIME now! Glad they are still around making good stuff! I've owned a ton of their cases and fans long ago in the AMD K6-2 through Thunderbird and Multi-processor (MP) days.
Jay, PLEASE take a look at the Cannon case from Antec!
One of my first builds was with an Antec Sonata case using Vantec stealth fans. Although I don't use it anymore I still have the case and it looks just as good as when I bought it. Very high quality.
Same, had the Sonata I for 10+ years, if you're careful with the piano black finish it still holds up really well
My first case that didn't utterly suck was an Antec 500, which I used for various builds for years before donating to a friend who may or may not have taken a Dremel to it. Good to see them back in the game!
I have a 20 year old Antec Full Tower case, that just won't die.
Almost all the electronics inside have been replaced, but the case is still in good shape.
I had a P180 which lasted me about 15 years. Amazing case. Now im looking upgrade to a full size again and found this. Im sold thank you for the review.
Like the case, love the magnetic front and removable top and the cable management panels on the back.
Jay, for Jess, when was last you’ve seen a full tower case on a desk ? Normally these go on the floor, so the temp. sensor position on the top of the case makes absolutely sense. Other than this, great case as expected by ANTEC.
Finding myself trusting your opinion and perspective more. I appreciate your apparent honestly and forthrightness, based on your experience.
Thanks for showing me the case I'll be using in my next build.
The Antec P182 was my second case. Solid, inexpensive, easy to build in, and super quiet! I loved that case.
Thanks for showing me the case I'll be using in my next build.
What a build. Awesome Jay!!!
I'm glad you mentioned their iUnity, as I wasn't even aware that they had this program available until I followed your link. Btw, I still have a couple of Antec cases with working PCs, a P160W holding a Win98 & a DP502 Fluxwhite holding Win10. Both were modified and outfitted with wood accents to fit my personal aesthetics. The new Performance would be awesome in white and add to my collection.
I can't find the iUnity when I do a google search, which link did you follow to find it? I've been looking for something like this.
@@smittyjones8755 Sorry, I just now noticed your post. If you click on Jayz link to the case, just scroll down and it's right below. It's fairly decent, simple, without being too convoluted.
@@jawnTem No problem, I found it now. Thanks.
Wow. I’m genuinely impressed with this Antec product.
Glad to see Antec return to form! I've put together more systems in Antec cases than I care to remember, but haven't seen them around for the longest time. This might be a contender for any new build I'm doing.
Antec Sonata was my first ever build, focusing on quietness, then into Silverstone Fortress FT-02, which I'm still using 10+ years later :)
I still have the Sonata, it's my bed side clock and lamp table 😁
The piano finish is nice 🙂
Still deciding on my next case - Either Be Quiet Silent Base 802, Fractal North or Torrent... They have to be able to match my FT-02's airflow and quietness
I like how the cable management panels on the back are numbered. Would make a cool Star Citizen themed system modeling after something like an Aegis Vanguard or something similar.
I'm sure such a case would be released sooner than Star Citizen 🤣
My first pc i built has Antec sonata III case. This was back in 2006-2007 ish it has served me well to this day and 2 years ago had to cut the back of it open to fit in AIO watercooler for the CPU.
Thanks for showing this off, I love full towers and wished more Tech CZcamsrs would show this off this type of cases.
Id love to see you do a custom build in the antec p120 Crystal. I currently have a Corsair 4000D in white, but the P120 Crystal looks so damn good.
An O11 Dynamic case with a slight tweak of putting the power supply at the top. Which is a strange decision bc the top panel is solid, prevents exhaust or a radiator to be used on the top, and subsequently the PSU can only be mounted with fan point down which would draw all the heat into the power supply. I applaud Antec for trying to become relevant again, but wish theyd do more unique cases rather than tweaking current cases....and in the case of the P120 Crystal, made in theory a worse version of an O11 Dynamic variant
I love it when your case reviews get a quick build in them...
.
I could care less if you get it running (honestly). Just seeing how a build fits into a case is great! 👏🏼
Awesome Case, I have and love the Silent version, it's Perfect for No RGB builds.
I was a fan of antec, upgraded around 8-9yrs ago from the sonata II to the enthoo pro. Nice heavy case, solid thick sheet steel, automotive grade paint job. Finally updating a workstation from the antec slk2650-bqe solutions case to a fractal define r5.
whats that software called at 15:12?
Really nice case, something different beside the NZXT or Lian Li builds we are looking at in these days.
Would be good to offer another cheaper version with a metal backcover and a white option.
My current build is in a Antec DF700 Flux mid-tower with Antec storm series fans and custom water loop (corsair pump). I couldn't be happier. The amount of heat that is removed from my system during load is insane -- I am toasty warm during winter. My GPU never spikes above 42c during load and my CPU is relatively stable around 35c and 60c during load.
The TUF OC version of the 4080 may not be the largest variant but putting one in my system still necessitated upgrading the case from an H510 to an H710. I wish I had seen this video before doing that upgrade.
This LCD is in such stupid, invisible place, I can't even. Close to nobody keep the chassis on the floor.
fr
I keep mine on the floor
I suspect its probably 50/50 on this one. I do think on the front would be better - but that would require more complex design with the front panel so would potentially add a chunk of cost.
@@malphadour The most viable place is in the basement's wall, there's really much more people placing PC on the desk than on the floor and it's also more hygienic dust wise. They also could have simply angle the bottom side of the panel and place it there, the chassis is already going to cost 199 USD, the cost difference would be minuscule. Top side is simply stupid from modern stand point.
@@PolskiJaszczomb I see dozens of PC's in homes and I've gotta tell you, it is pretty 50/50 from what I've seen. I think the idea that someone mentioned of having it on a little hinge would suit both scenarios - cost a bit more but would then work for everyone.
Got an Antec P180b back in the days, loved it, felt really high quality and the features were way ahead of its time.
My Antec Sonata III case is still in active use. I have upgraded the components inside some four or five times during the past 10 years or so. Just love the case!
Brought back some fond memories. First cased I modded with lights and glow was an Antec, in 2003 :)
Always been a huge fan of Antec. It's been my go-to case for decades.
Had (youngest has it now) an Antec P160 non-window case, built several systems in it, and loved it. Recently ('17) got a brand new Antec P9, much the same as the P160, black and windowed. Antec make damn good cases
Glad to see Antec coming back, loved my 900 and SX830 beforehand
One of my favorite builds you've done. Looks excellent.
My first propper build was in an antec Torque. It's now a 3 radiator, fully water cooled beast..... and i still love it!.
I also had an Antec case back in the day and they had for the time some great functionality. Nice to see that they are still in the game.
Refreshing to see how you're using all Antec parts. This is how I do my pc builds. And I thought I was the only one lol.
It's great to see Antec getting up there with this awesome new case they made
My first watercooled build was in an antec case. I modified the front to be able to mount a 420 radiator to and still have the front cover on. It stuck out of the top and met up with the 240 radiator at the top. Has that kind of inside-out look. It still gets all the hand-me-downs from my main build which is in a slightly modified Define 7.
Thanks for the review. Ordered one. Great case! Replaced my aging Phantek with an old I7-7700K while I save up for something better. Tons of room now.
Haven't thought of Antec in years, good to see a solid design from them!
Very good case from Antec. From them I have used power supplies and Antec Lansing speakers, I dont know if anyone remembers those, it was a long time ago. Thanks Jay for all your videos.
Nice case! When I built my old gaming computer with my dad 12 years ago, we used the Antec 300 case. It had the AMD Phenom II X6 1090T and 2 Radeon HD 7770s in Crossfire (initially had 2 5770s in Crossfire). Still works today!
Recently, we built a brand new gaming computer with the Antec DF700 Flux. It has the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D and Radeon RX 6600 XT. So far, it's been working great!
Jay, my dad worked in the meat department of grocery stores for 30+ years. According to him a person will cut themselves faster with a dull knife than they will with a sharp knife. The reason is that they end up using a lot more force to get a dull blade to cut. This additional force leads to a person cutting themselves when their hands slips or the blade suddenly cuts faster than expected.
Also, my wife's computer has an Antec Earthwatts 550W power supply. It's been going strong for 9 years now and she almost never turns off her computer.
Reminds me a lot of the bequiet! Silent Base 602, but with better cable managment and more space for fans and radiators.
I had an old Antec case before I bought the bequiet and I was already impressed and inspired by what antec came up with back then.
Good stuff!
I love this case, the 140mm fans that come with it are really quiet and temps have been great. I bought the white version because my fractal meshify couldnt fit my Sapphire 6950xt without touching the front fans. Loved the case so much that I bought the black version to swap my wifes pc into. Neither of us have used the lcd display as our pcs sit on top the desk, but it is a cool feature. The main pros of this case are amazing cable management, nice included fans, easy to build in, and lots of space for activities. The white version has normal clear glass, and the black one has smokey tinted glass for the side panel, which looks suprisingly good. 10/10 would buy again.
Ive bought the innovative Antec P182 back in 2006 i suppose, and that was a breath of fresh air back in the day!! Now it started to show its age, but still goes very strong and one of the best silent cases out there 👍 This one is just a tad above average among branded 2023 computer cases...
I have a P182 with a CP-1000 power supply sitting in my server room running right now, and it's been running for 13 years mostly 24/7.... same motherboard too
Yes ,thank you. Checking out the case with an actual build, not just theoretical "it fits so many fans and radiators". And awesome build by the way
My 2016 build was in an Antec 300 case, and also had an Antec HCP Platinum 1000W P/S and an Antec Kuehler 120mm AIO. It's still going strong.
My latest build uses an Antec DF800 Flux white case, and yes, I did also put in their fans, the beveled outer LED rings look really good at the top of the case.
Jay, another spotlight of something well engineered? You're spoiling us! Lovely build, great video. Thanks man
I remember drooling over the Antec Sonata cases back in the day, that "piano black" finish was super clean.
Nice! I'm _still_ rocking an Antec P180 I bought from CompUSA back in the day. It's seen better days - the front door on it is broken and sides are a bit scuffed, but all buttoned up I get great temps on my air-cooled R7 2700x and the RX580 never gets over 50-55C under full load.
That’s so cool to hear these old Antec cases are still being used! Still have great upgrade options on AM4 before deciding to retire the case
Love seeing Antec again. This case looks like it has a lot in common with the Phanteks P500A but that's a great thing. Looks awesome.
I'm so glad I bought my Antec DF700 FLUX case, best case I've ever owned, affordable too!
Still rocking an Antec 300 on my home office computer. Just updated some components and the case is still great!
@10:39 What a delightful choice of music to build to. Perfect fit.
This is probably gonna be my next case for my next build. From a Be Quiet 900D (which was a great case, minus the limited airflow ontop...) Love this one!
I've been rocking an Antec P183 case and Antec Trupower 650W PSU for the last 13 years. Now this case just might be a worthy successor!
Had a ISK 600 from Antec back in the day, killer ITX setup for the time.
One of my first cases from them had a triple dial readout on the front panel. One for CPU, GPU and fan speed. Amazing case for the early 1990s.
My first custom pc case was an Antec Super Lanboy.. Loved that thing,
I just built a new rig using an Antec DF700 Flux case and I LOVE everything about it!!
wishlisted for next build Thanks Jay for the great content!
I've had at least 6 antec cases over the years and they've always been awesome...
Using those non RGB 140mmx30mm fans in my case, they are great. Quiet, move a ton of air. Good to see you looking at more of what's out there!
Thanks for the great review Jay.. I know which case I'm using for my next build coming up!
My first properly decent PC case I bought for a build was the Antec SX830, lasted a heck of a long time in multiple builds. Still have an old Antec P182 in the loft (attic).
I'm thinking of doing my own build and had been looking for a case that would have mice air flow and just looked nice overall! This caught my eye and now have decided this is what I want my case to be. Now just to figure the rest of the components I want 😅 not sure as this would be my first build and still learning everything.
I have the Antec P180 with a Antec TruePower New 750W PSU that used to house my main PC but now hosts my file server. Amazing case & PSU.
Love Antec, this is a SICK build!
Wish this case existed before I put together my build. Love the vid Jay, maybe later in the year I will think about buy this one!
So many memories of starting out in this game, extreme frustration! But so fun.
This brings back memories, my first build was a Antec 902 looked so awsome
I sold my SX 1030 just a few years ago. It ran an AMD system until 2018 then sat under my desk after the system died. It ran in various configurations from 2001 to 2018. I bought an acrylic side panel for it to show off my blue cathode tubes and dual Hd 4770s. Crazy to see how far we’ve come. The good ole days lol. Kind of wish I kept it. Glad to see a new Antecedent build.
I bought the deepcool E-ATX E-SHIELD and i very happy with the airflow. My 5800x3d in gaming not reach 57c, is amazing.
Jay thankyou for this video! I ended up choosing the Antec performance 1 ft in white.
I'm still running the Antec P182 today - seems like I've found its potential successor. Great video, thanks.
I built a PC for my next door neighbour about 4 yrs ago in a 'cheap' Antec NX 230 case (35 GBP) I was genuinely gobsmacked by how good the quality of the case was, Kudos to Antec.
Still running my Antec 1200, running my 13600k build. The thing is built well everything still running fine and fits my Noctua heat sinks perfectly.
Found my new case. I LOVE the front of the case, reminds me of a car grill
really nice clean case. The panels on the back is brilliant.
That front panel is so nice. Just pull it off an clean it without lugging the whole case outside to blast it with air.
I used an Antek 300 for a previous build and it was a great case. This one looks really nice as well.
I had a 300 for my fisr build : it was a Phenom 2 X3 720, a HD4850, with 4gig of RAM it was back in 2011. It was a great cas fir the time, but in retrospect would have benefited in a bit more airflow.
I'm really really liking the look and of this case... A lot
Antec nostalgia. I started building with the Antec P180 case. Unlike this performance case, it was advertised as a sound deadening case. So the air flow had to go through side slots in the front to help trap any sound from inside the case.
