Gorgeous truck, one of my favorite color combos too. I love seeing old iron on the road.
Now hurry up and buy that new '24 Duramax to haul it around! ;)

Nice truck. i got a 64 f-100 out of Oaklahoma 7 years ago. Rust free. Well worth the effort. And an epic roadtrip (48 hr turn and burn) to go get it!

    In 1989 I had a 71 super short bed, 350auto, pw,ps,fact air.
$6,800 no tach or am/fm radio.
Now they go for the price of a 2024!!

When I sold it two years later everyone asked does it have the factory tach and am/fm radio?

Very nice vid. I graduated in 71 and drove a 66 Chevy one ton stake dually with a hydraulic lift tailgate and four on the floor. Everyone loved it. We used it to haul horses. Our football team all rode in the back for parades. I taught a lot of guys how to use a manual with it, and on the weekends we’d cruise at night egging (not proud of it but it was a ton of fun).
PS: I now have a 67 Bonneville, all original 88,000, and I’m selling it to a 16 year old for 4K. Not everyone is looking for the big bucks but like to see the tradition carried on.

I enjoyed your video and you are quite knowledgeable about the trucks. I could nit pick some of your info on the C10's but won't. I was surprised when u were mentioning options that you didn't point out the Spid label on the inside of the glove box door as it as I'm sure you know lists everything the truck came with from the factory. I agree with your original, especially original paint , is better than someone's personalized truck but there are lots you can do to a C10 to enhance the mechanical aspects of the truck while keeping the classic look which I have done to my 72 C10.

Actually a build sheet shows everything. A spid shows overview only. There's lots to consider for authentic, spid, door tag, serial on lh frame rail, engine castings etc. Contrary to popular belief, chevy trucks can b "numbers matching". It just takes more research and knowledge.

Nice truck Howard , my favorite year is the 69 and it's front grill , I am a kid of the 60s &70s and I grew up in chev trucks the first truck remember is dads 67 and then the 69 the 71 with a automatic he hated said it used to much gas and got a 73 first new truck with a/c and a 78 BIG 10 and remember the story behind the big 10 was GM getting around the new EPA rules and smog control crap that covered cars and 1/2 ton trucks so GM called them 5/8 ton trucks to get around the EPA rules and be exempt

Very informative video, but I would suggest adding one more piece of advice when shopping for a classic vehicle. Can it be supported, by parts and service to actually drive and enjoy.
As I have a 1968 Ford F500 that I bought from my City's surplus department, that I wanted to fix up and drive. The first thing I found out is the brake drums are no longer available. Period. Not NOS, used, or otherwise. So if I go to safety this truck and the drums are out of spec, the only things left are expensive options. Also, this truck has split ring rims. I'm sure Howard could tell a story or two on the dangers of these things.
I'd say, make sure that you're chosen ride can be serviced/supported, made to function, safely, so you can have many years to enjoy it.

That inner grille was painted black. The outer grille is a 72, 71 was painted black along inner parameter, though perhaps yours is just faded, not uncommon. The deluxe two tone was not exclusive to cheyenne. Upscale began with the deluxe, not cheyenne. The lower side moldings would be wood grain on a cheyenne,, those are black like youd find on a custom and deluxe, perhaps they just look black in that lighting.. Very cool thats a 71 super, those were more rare than 72 super. I might add, the first thing to look for is rust, imo. Im wiith you, primarily orig. Is best.

Nice truck, would be a show stopper with a fresh glossy paint job that really makes the white pop and some minor cosmetic things. I know some people like to keep it with a worn kind of look, but for me I'd want it to pop, especially in the sun.

❤ this truck and the story.
These are the trucks that will run 50 years from now.
EVs and Hybrid 😂 barely will run after 6 years without any major overhaul of batteries and softwares.

They’re desirable cause people either want to re-capture their nostalgia or they’re tired of overpriced modern trucks with way too much tech that cost way too much to fix.

Howard what was the cost to bring the truck over from the United States into Canada with duties and fees and paperwork?

    • @TruckKing

You have to pay GST on the purchase price and the other paperwork is about 50 dollars. Any vehicle 25 years or older is easy to import.

What do I think... I think that your generation of truck was run from 1967 to 1972 and not 68 to 72. Your should also change 50 year old seat belts and put shoulder belts, for safety. Remove that ugly tack and put a new one from LMC truck within the bezel. I would start there, but if it were mine I'd put a man's transmission, can't drive these 1 foot wide brake pedal automatic, left foot always pressing the brakes to shift. Don't take all this personally, I'd rather have a safer, more ergonomic and manually shifted vehicle. But, all in all great video! :)
