    A squarebody will never go out of style. They are everything a truck should be and needs to be, Perfect.

    I have an '87 GMC Sierra classic 2500. 70k original miles. Just about ready for painting. All mechanicals, body work and interior done. Runs and rides fantastic. Now figuring out best paint scheme.

    Hell if looks could kill, it's a 73-87 squarebody. The truck stood with America during pivotal times from Vietnam to Reagan years. Built with love and Detroit steel! Compared to pickups now that are made from recycled beer cans and baby diapers.

    I love the old box Chevys! I agree that the 2-tone paint job was just so iconic with that body style! I prefer the newer front end with the stacked square headlights and the turn signals in the front bumper.

    my top 3 choices for these things
    1- 67-72 #1 /// These 2 are tied for 2nd but if I had to pick I'd put the 93-95 in 2nd /// 2- square body (shown here) /// 3- GMT400 up to 95 - After 95 look too rounded inside and outside like it got fat in the wrong ways.
    I own a 94 k1500 burban awesome machine... 460le went out so it's getting a nv4500 5spd swap. Anyways simple, clean, proportionate looking machines. Trucks after 95 started looking way too bloated and unnecessarily aggressive especially past 10 years.

    I have a '86 Scottsdale and I agree with all of your points. Great video, very well put together great info. The cushion on my C10 and I'm 5'4 and my seat is slid all the way forward and my steering wheel is at about a 60 or so degree angle and my knee hits the steering wheel whenever I get in because of the thick seat cushion. -Very comfy though. Mine has 29,187 miles on it- I got it on 1/12/24, I'm the third owner and my dad was saying how it can't be original miles.

    My Grandpa had one exactly like it when i was a kid. Same brown and white color. First year throttle body injection 350 in 1987. Rode like a cadillac. But it wasnt very powerful lol. It was around 200hp new. But we cruised in that thing all summer and i always got to drive 😊. He would listen to bluegrass music and drink beer while 14 year old grandson drove 😂. It was a different time back then. A good time!
    My dad bought a 1988 S10 new. I still have it today. Restored it to like new with original 2.5 and 5 speed stick. Its my daily driver now
    My first was a 1969 C10. Im looking for a 69 or 70 now to relive my high school days 😂
    Anyhow...im done with modern trucks. I drive the 1988 Chevy S10 every day for its fuel economy and will be buying a C10 69 or 70...or maybe a square body...to make my full size truck when i need one. Id rather spend 25k on a good shape C10 or square and finish making it new again than spend money on a modern one. If for no other reason than they are FUN to drive! New trucks just arent fun to just drive

    I have the exact same truck. Mine is an 82 Silverado HD C20 big block truck. Red and charcoal grey. My dad bought it new. It’s not in as good of shape as your friends but no different other than interior color and body color. I have a 2500 Ram Cummins and the square body will pull everything it pulls. Also an original Alabama truck. I live 50 miles north of Mobile AL 10 miles east of I-65. Mine was used for hauling a cattle trailer and pulling a boat to the Alabama river.

    1987 was the last year for the square body regular cab pickups, but just on the half ton & three quarter ton models. The one ton regular cabs on the other hand were still in production up through 1989, & same with the crew cabs, Suburbans, K5 Blazers, & Jimmys except they stayed in production up through 1991.

  • @arizonanumbersstation1727

    Great Video - super informative. I just acquired my dad's 1985 C20 with 5.7L that he bought new. How do I determine if it is Heavy Duty?--is it in the VIN?

      If you can find the RPO code sticker in the glove box or driver's side door jamb, one of the 3-digit codes on the list will be C6P. If the sticker is missing it's trickier. If there's no front sway bar, then it's definitely not an HD. If there is a front sway bar, it's likely an HD, but it was possible to option a non-HD with the swaybar so it's not a sure thing. Here's one document that is interesting but not super informative: www.xr793.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/1987-Chevrolet-Full-Size-Pickup.pdf and if you want a much bigger document that has all the specs and options and stuff I have it on pdf and I can email it to you, jaustinbell@gmail.com

    • @atomicautomobile8537
      @atomicautomobile8537  Před rokem

      And also obviously if you can find the GVWR listed on the door jamb sticker or anywhere else, HD will be 8600 lb, non-HD will be somewhere below 8000.
