    Old diesel engines like 1.9 TDI 90hp can work on clear sunflower oil.

    is the sunflower oil the normal one used for cooking ?

      You can use any kind of cooling oil..used or new..it will work. After doing the entire process put a small drop of the fuel into water..if it's good you will see rainbow colors appearing in water , just like diesel in water.. of not..then there was not enough reactant.

      The vegetable oil will turn into bio diesel when it reacts with the sodium hydroxide and methanol. Then it will saperate out of the solution in 24 hours.

      I have heard that bio waste can be converted into sugars using enzymes and then converted into alchohol, which is a fuel.

    Hy, i managed to do it but too scared to put it in my car tank, is there any way to test if my biodiesel good to go?

      Try using it in some kind of diesel generator or something..some other diesel engine...
      When poured into water it should form rainbow colored oil films over water just like diesel..if all that checks out you are good to go..to be really sure, may be try it on someone else's car may be..😂😂

      One question, my lye doesn't completely dissolve inside methanol, is it normal? Can i keep the lye and methanol mixture somewhere for later use or it got short shelf time?

      @@auliaalam4860 dissolve as much lye as you can.. I haven't tried tried storing it for long.. probably it is better to use the same day itself.

      @@anonimoqualquer5503 concentrate the algae so the least water possible and when I mixed NaOH and alcohol together and put the solution to the concentrated algae. I had an oily liquid which is flammable as candle.

      If there is 10 pounds of oil, you need 1 pound of methanol to fully react with it in the presence of sodium or potassium hydroxide catalist. It is always good to use a bit excess of methanol so that you are sure it is fully reacted.

      The reaction is faster when using methanol.
      When using ethanol it takes like 48 hours or more to fully react.. I haven't tried making biodiesel using ethanol so I'm not sure about the proportions to be used.

      ​@@CreativeLabStudioand have you tried using sulfuric acid as catalist? It can also be used as, in my case I use it as catalist to produce ethene gas from ethanol, aluminum oxide works as well but it requires to be heated to work

      Only Methanol works good. Ethanol need some additional chemical treatment I think.

    Is there any way to identify oil is at 70 C without thermometer….is it necessary to heat oil.

      Heating the oil is makes reation go faster. Without a thermometer it is hard to know the exact temperature..but you can heat it till you find it really hot to the touch.

      @PushpendraSingh-zi6qr you will have to mix the ingredients in the right quantity and leave it to fully react and settle out for 24 hours..so heating or not heating.. there is only little difference..
      By heating you can get a complete reaction with the right proportion of ingredients..without heating you might need to use a bit more of alcohol maybe..

      Yes, you can use alcohol but then the process takes a little bit longer and heating may be required...just try it yourself in a small batch..

      For one liter of veritable oil you need 200ml of methanol and 10 grams of NaOH. Usually more methanol is used..

      Fuel can be made from sugar. It can be fermented with yeast and distilled to make ethanol which is a fuel.
      But it is better to use just sugar instead of soft drinks.
      Cellulose are also used to make ethanol by using enzymes to break down cellulose to sugars and fermenting it to make ethanol.

      75 percent alcohol should still work..but the amount of fuel obtained would change..Or you might need to use more of the less concentrated alcohol. 100 percent alcohol is really cheap to buy online.

      @@jackmarsh7328 well it will be better if you could get 180 proof or 90% alcohol..as the water content increase the reaction will get really slow...try to get some alcohol with good concentration..
