I detested individual and group sports growing up, never felt I’d be good at any discipline (except folk dance but dance only happened a handful of times in PE class). I took up dancing since college, on and off until I was about to turn 40. Call it a mid life crisis but I set out to challenge what I hated, which was running. In 20 years I ran, trail ran, hiked, and did yoga. Swimming is the latest obsession. And I am back to swing dance. Physical activities no matter individual or with others are so healing and positive for mind and body. I learned so much about myself and the sports I was into. I met friends and have been to places. I worry about kids today not wanting to participate or learn any sport because they just want to play games. I wish for them to have a wake up moment like I had. If I could do a whole lot after 40 (without injury), it is never too late to get moving.

This is just so insightful with lots to digest. Thank you so much for getting us into the mind set of an elite athlete but with skills that can transfer to us all.

Before internet, I’d have no way to get high capacity high level coaches to teach me how to swim. Now I can learn from elite and professional swimmers and excellent coaches from my ipad. The swim apps are also going to be helpful when I get good enough to go for a 25/50 meter pool.

Could you analyze about latest world aquatic 2023 in 800m and 1500m that Tunisian swimmer used 1beat 1 kick? Will This technique be patterned for the next Olympics?

    The 8-stroke-in-1-breath per 25m legend!!!!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
That IG video gave me a whole new appreciation of the technique mastery of an elite sprinter.
(I foolishly thought sprinting was pure power and high stroke rate with less attention to technique details! 🫣)
