    If Roman Abramovich's 2003 purchase of Chelsea FC introduced English football to a new generation of billionaires, the 2008 purchase of Manchester City by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed al Nahyan introduced the game to its first family of trillionaires. In this video, we track the history of the man who has elevated Manchester City to the top of the game.

    About Tifo Football:
    Informative, illustrated football analysis. Home of WhiteboardFootball®.
    Tifo loves football. We know there’s an appetite for thoughtful, intelligent content, for stuff that makes the complicated simple.
    Our illustrated and live action CZcams videos address all aspects of the game, including tactics, history, and the business of football.
    We provide analysis on the Premier League, Champions League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, World Cup and more.
    Our podcasts interview some of the game’s leading figures. And our editorial covers football with depth and insight.
    Tifo Football used to be uMAXit Football - we changed our name in November 2017 to better articulate who we are and what matters to us: making football accessible to its fans through story-telling and the expertise and insight of our team of writers and producers.
    Tifo was nominated by the Football Supporters’ Federation for the ‘Best Online Media’ Award in 2017 and 2018.
    We also make bespoke videos.

    Just so much hate from man city fans saying that the club is misrepresented in this video. I’m a die hard man city fan but tbh it’s kind of disappointing seeing all the hate given to uMAXit Football for just simply stating facts and informing us. There is no agenda behind the channel, there is no biased. It’s a video with facts that if a true city fan you should be able to accept and not blame channels like uMAXit Football for just telling the truth unbiasedly

    • @Tifo
      @Tifo  Před 6 lety +147

      Thank you for saying so, Kelvin. And as I've noted in other responses, I do want to make it clear that we are not criticising fans for supporting their club. It's a very murky, modern world, and it is possible to occupy both positions at once without being a hypocrite.

    I used to live in Dubai, the conditions for migrant workers are appalling. They’re paid around £150 a month, live in rooms of up to 30 people with no air conditioning (and temperatures get to 50°+). Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis are seen as second class citizens and it’s actually appalling. If you think for a minute the UK is racist as a country we shadow in the racism of the Middle East. The law states no worker can work in conditions above 50° so the government never release temperatures over 49°. I know this has little to do with football but there needs to be more light shon on the fact the the UAE are the drivers in modern day slavery and they must be held accountable

  • @drgjs58727
    @drgjs58727 Před 6 lety +14

    Hi, I'm an Indian born and bred in the UAE. Migrant worker who is supposedly being oppressed.
    The West does similar things to people who they deem threats to their security. Britain even today sends soldiers and armies to far flung parts of the globe.
    None of those seem to get heavily noted by Human rights watch though.
    If the East had a human rights watch focussed on the West, how hard would it be to paint your regimes as those with the illusion of democracy but essentially war hungry military regimes?
    Your media and movies do the reputation laundering for you.
    Not blaming you for being brought up to see your own as right always.

    • @bens4602
      @bens4602 Před 5 lety +4

      Don't you dare compare the UK's human rights record to that of the UAE. Refugees and immigrants are treated better in the UK than any other country on the globe in terms of housing, benefits and allowances. The army does the job it's supposed to do in defending the nation and one cannot compare bending to the USA's will in the Iraq War to genuine human rights abuses in the UAE. Considering the West is a free, democratic part of the world, where people can be anything they want to be, human rights watches from the East would have unimaginable difficulty painting the West to be terrible. The only thing they could point out is that there are immoral hate speech laws which violate freedom of expression - in order to protect migrants from being offended.

      You guys just don't understand that you're living in era of a post world war that you just won. Every culture that just has won a war would be depict itself as the righteous one. This would usually last a couple of hundred of years before the rise of a new power. In this case, CHINA.
      Your country took over India and forced it's farmers to farm Opium to later sell it to the Chinese population under the British control.
      When the Chinese president tried to stop this madness that been forced on his society, the British started a war that later they won. Your country literally Pablo Escobared the biggest 2 countries in Asia, hundered of years before Pablo was a thing.
      So what ever good things you think of your society is the same things everyone think of their society. The only difference is that your part of the world has done more crimes and humen rights violation than anyone else through out history. However, after the world wars madness they started promoting thier post Christianity mural system which's human rights, and the governing system democracy, and they both combined equals a new religion.

    As someone who has visited the UAE two times, you do not see any of the misery you are talking about. It is kinda obvious to the eye that only certain people do certain labour but do they really live a worse life than before? The UAE is like the safest place on earth with relatively cheap living conditions compared to western europe. I also had daily chats with a male maid from Nepal, who, although that he mentioned he wanted to leave after the season, didn't seem like anyone would stop him from doing so. He was just like, "ye I'm going back to Nepal, too much Big City life, etc."
    I can see that the construction business can be interpretated as rough, since they work in double shifts for like 10h each. But apart from the efficiancy it does not differ much from what I have seen in construction. Where I come from, it's quite normal to have people working with no contracts for just a few weeks, just to be replaced with the next set of contractless workers afterwards.
    If you visit the UAE, you will be nothing but impressed. I promise. Everything is superior. Infrastructure, overall happiness, Taxi fees, safety, customer service, clean af, common sense... just everything.
    And even tho it is hard to imagine, they treat women with far more respect than we do. Everything you can think of, they can use only for women. Seperately. They don't have to but if they feel like it, they can go for women only days. Metro, Beach, Taxi, you name it. There is nothing like that for men only.
    I travelled a lot by Metro and I do not recall sad exploited faces, even tho the Metro is packed with indian IT workers. In general, I realized there how sad I am. Because everyone is full of joy there.
    Maybe because I spent most of my time there in Dubai but I'm always triggered if it's spoken bad about, because I think it is pretty close to Utopia.
