Amazing defense play from both teams (at least as shown in the video highlights)! Im a fan of the Russian women's volleyball team, but I believe the team will never be the same without Gamova and Sokolova/Sashkova. Congratulations to China though!
Michael Sy: I think Gamova and Sokolova were disheartened by their loss to the comparatively short Chinese team in Athens Olympics. The tallest Chinese girl in that gold medal final was about 6ft 2in.
Lee Chua although the Russian team were much taller, the Chinese team were much quicker at the Athens olympics. And every player in the Chinese team can put up a score easily, whereas the Russian team mainly relies on only 2 players, that is, Gamova and Sokolova. I saw that Match from start to finish. I was rooting for the Russian team, but that Chinese team was simply better.

Second of all, I’m not sure which video you were watching but this video accounted for 13 Chinese points vs 8 Russian points.
Finally, the score was there the whole time..China 3 Russia 0! No one was trying to deceive anyone. Perhaps you’re overly sensitive.
Interesting. Having read your comment before watching the video, I was expecting a video so distorted in its representation of the game that I would have thought Russia won. Just for some math, 55% of the points shown were won by China. Also, there were 75% of the "offensive success pictures" were of China winning a point (meaning the point was won on a spike). I'm not seeing the "discrimination" and no, Russia's performance was not "very poor". And because there was always the score in the top corner, there was no confusion regarding who was winning the game. It was obvious China was ahead the whole game.

I agree that Russia will be back among the leaders soon. I think the former Soviet Union still holds the record number for Olympic gold medals - 4 golds, more than the Chinese or Cuban 3 Olympic golds each.

I really like China's behind the setter approach. Idk if that stop - go approach would work with my U16s but it's worth a try.
Russia needs a new Gamova and they need is fast. Goncharova alone, as good as she is, is not good enough to carry the team by herself against these top teams. Parubet and Voronkova are good but she doesn’t shine when competing with world class teams like China, Italy, or USA. Goncharova will be retiring soon and after that, the Russians are really in trouble if they still haven’t found new talents.

I am a Russia fan and so sad to see Russia lose this way. Service reception is the main problem for them . The setter should be clever and distribute the ball more to quick spikers . Vonronkova and parubets can hit as hard as they can but when they lose focus and concentration,russia will easily collapse .They have to be mentally strong. Only goncharova is not enough. Find more players like gamova,sokolova,kosheleva.Voronkova,and parubets r not the same level of Zhu ting. I wish to c Russia back to be volleyball powerhouse like before but I don't know when. It hurts to c them lose this way.And what I ve noticed is Russia will change players very often. Sherban, malynk, r also good players but they have now disappeared

Russia had an opportunity to win in the 2015 World Cup with Kosheleva, Gonchorova, Fetishova, etc. Russia crushed the US 3-0 but unaccountably lost to China 1-3. China won that World Cup after a 12-year drought and went on to win in the Rio Olympics the following year.

比4年前，虽然只换了一个接应（曾变龚），中国队确实更成熟了，打得更加耐心，比较有章法，速度也快了，反击套路很多。 俄罗斯队的进攻下降了一些，不过防守和串联好了很多，速度也快了。
