She is the outside hitter and captain of the South Korea women's national volleyball team, and currently plays for the Turkish team Eczacıbaşı VitrA.
Kim signed a three-year contract with Fenerbahçe in 2011 after playing for Cheonan Heungkuk Life in South Korea and JT Marvelous in Japan. She signed another two-year extension with Fenerbahçe for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons.[1] After playing with Fenerbahçe for another season, she spent a year in the Chinese Volleyball league, and came back to Turkey for the 2018-19 season with Eczacıbaşı VitrA.

Kim Yeon Koung is seriously a legend. She's not just just a top player, but every team she goes to - whether it be China, Japan or Turkey, she's always led them to victory even though some of those teams were previously not considered champion-worthy teams. Her leadership and influence over the team is just amazing. And she not only spikes/blocks well, but her DIGS are top class too.

Kim Yeon Koung is exceptional. Anywhere she is in the court, she contributes something. She aces, spikes, sets, blocks. She's an all rounder and an amazing team captain. She's smart, energetic and passionate, she's truly one of a kind.

Unfortunately ,.. that will just remain as a dream. The Fact is without Y.K Kim, The Korean Women's National Team would be less than mediocre team.
It may not even win a single match against moderate power team such as Thailand, let alone power house teams like China, Japan and other European teams or American Continent's teams. Heck, I bet Korean may not even win a single match against emerging African continent's Teams.

You're clearly exaggerating for u to think that they can't beat a single team because there are a lot of promising young atletes in KR, they just need a good coach like Lavarini or Kim who can sharpen their skills and an effective system .

Who knows, with modern medicine being as great as it is today, KYK might be able to compete at the next Olympics if she maintains her conditioning. I mean, just look at what Tom Brady is doing in the NFL. There's no reason why KYK can't do the same.

You know the Korean team was 4th place at 2016 London Olympic but Kim Yeon Kyung was awarded with MVP back then. In general, MVP is awarded to a player from the first place team but it was exceptional cuz she played amazingly well.

Where's Boscovic? She's very powerful too but anyway, I really admire KYK she's all around player. Can dig, spike, serve and block as well she's a legend. The leadership herself inside the court is very impactful though she didn't even achieve her goal but the contribution she give into the team is pretty enough. She's also the friend of everyone in the league. I really love her. Additionally, I also like the talent of Egonu she's very promising when it comes to crucial points she'll do everything to get that win point! She's fantastic Italian player! 🥰

The reason why Kim Yeon-kyung became the best player in the world was because she was so short until the age of 14, so she practiced hard as a defender and grew taller at the recommendation of her coach and parents.
I think there's many great players in this list, but Tijana Boskovic should be here, and i admire Gaby Guimaraes, all the other players measure more than 1.90, Gaby's height is 1.79 and maybe she's the most complete player along with Kim

@@dionysus4778 That's an old way of thinking. With modern medicine, treatments, and training, athletes throughout almost all sports have only started to hit their prime in their early 30s (28-32). KYK is pushing close to 36 and with the addition of past injuries, she will probably close out her career soon. Even more so if she is considering starting a family.
