Black interiors are insanely boring. Fine on an economy/mass market car, but it really cheapens the look of a nicely done interior IMO. I agree about that tan boxter being hideous though.
Gonna disagree here. My favourite car I've been camping on the last few years had Grey, Beige, and Black interiors, and the cars are now 20-25 years old.
Black was the majority, so cars/parts in good condition, it's a numbers game - they're available, even a 1/4 century later.
Grey and Beige: The remaining nice Grey/Beige interiors are cars people are not giving up.
Finding cars, or interior parts for the other colours is near impossible now. 20-25 years out, dealers have near no parts in those colours, or they're confiscatorily priced.
All the ones in those interior colours for sale, for parts, or buying parts, they're all previously owned by a goat farmer raising all the kids inside the cars. I have no idea how the one goat farmer owned all of them, but he does.
Also, when I see a white interior in a car, I think: psycopath. Also, someone who doesn't work on their own cars, and at best, is just one obscessed with water spots, dust-motes and fingerprints.
@@chrstphrr White can be good in certain cases, but I do agree there--white is just too far. Though, I think I'd still pick it over black if those were my only two options. I get where you're coming from, and that dark interiors age better (my gray interior E90 really needs a lot of detailing), but I'd personally still take it over a boring sea of black, especially on anything with remotely nice design/materials. Black just cheapens the look so much--for example on the E90, it makes the almost leatherette lower door cards look almost like the same hard plastic you'd find on a corolla.
Like you said, though: maybe I am a psychopath. I also like the minion miata, so...
Also, weirdly enough beige interior panels are the most common for my car, followed by black and then gray and white in that order. I do wish the gray panels were easier to find, but I also drive an old german car so I'm used to getting screwed over with parts--re: psychopath.
