Mk4 and mk5 are r32’s mk6 and up are golf r’s. Not to mention the “v6” in the r32 is a vr6 just like the previous gens, just like the 3.6 that comes in the Passats, cc’s, and atlas’s. Vw has only offered one other v6 from my knowledge and it was the 2.8l found in the b5 Passats.
Crazy how much more coherent the German car owners are than the Asian cars 👀😂
I have a 350,000km (217,000mi) Mk4 LPG converted...guys, the car is still running solid, apart from the ABS switching itself off every now and then. Great daily and great fun, bought it 5 years ago for less than the equivalent of 2000 dollars. What a car!
You also have to understand there are only 5000 mk4 R32s in the world

VW Community is generally great over time...the clout chaser eventually move to audi or BMW, the younger ricers stay in it and kind of destroy the backlog of cars and used parts, but the enthusiasts stay in it for the long haul compared to other manufacturers. Some of the most interesting cars at shows are older VWs.

Use to have an MK4 R32 and it was a machine to own. I will own one again. MK5 R32 are just not the same in spirit 🎉
I miss my ‘98 Golf. That thing was fun to row through the gears on Italian mountain roads. Slow as hell though.
