we have been seening later models fail by the snapring blowing out of the rear of the drum.
I have a 2015 Traverse that its tranny started slipping at about 44000 miles. To make a long story short they tried doing all sorts of little remedies like reprogramming computer and swapping fluid and then it started doing it again later by the time I got into the dealer after I was convinced by service rep to wait it was already out of warranty. However I brought it in and they found debris and everything in the transmission and they rebuilt the transmission here at the dealership at GM covering 60% of the labor and parts and I paid 40% to the tune of $1,600. Everything seemed all fine and dandy after the rebuild until about twelve thousand miles later it started occasionally slipping from 2nd to 3rd gear. I brought it back to the dealership since it was under a 2-year 24,000 mile warranty and they swapped out the fluid and did a transmission reprogram as they called it. It isn't doing it all the time but now it's occasionally slips from first to second gear but I've noticed it only happens in the hot climates like when it's over a hundred degrees. Now since we are in a climate where it's a seller's market for cars and I can't get rid of this vehicle, do you have a recommended transmission shop here in Tucson, Arizona, that would be reliable for fixing the problem permanently in the events I can't get this to stop happening after the warranty runs out? Also can that transmission shop get another transmission with the Sonnax kit installed already? The 2015 Chevy Traverse I have right now is fully paid off already and I really don't want to get rid of it to get a Toyota 4Runner which will run you about $45,000. As I mentioned earlier right now is a really bad time to buy a new vehicle or even a used one, for that matter. Please help. This 2015 Traverse at this point is cheaper to keep it, although these issues of my transmission occasionally slipping when it's hot outside is really a big inconvenience.
On a different note, would it be okay to ask you for recommendation on potential transmission coolers and whether you or not you think it would be necessary after maybe doing the Sonnax kit?
Please help.
Thanks for this great explanation and sharing 👍👍👍
You're very welcome! Thank you for the great feedback!

I know this is an old post but do you have recommendations on a part # for the rest of the steels and plates for the drum. I'm purchasing your drum saver kit for a 2009 GMC Acadia but cannot find a kit with the rest of the replacement steels and plates for the drum. Any help would be appreciated thank you.

@@sonnax Thanks for your reply, I will definitely give them a try and see what the price is,I’m a 77 year old ex-HGV fitter, the workshop’s I’ve approached here are frightened to death of these gearboxes and won’t go near them so I’m going to get someone to remove the box and then strip and rebuild it myself. I’ve watched several people strip and rebuild these gearbox’s and now feel competent enough to tackle it. Thanks again for the information.
Very smart design, Just bought this as a "while you're in there" since I have to drop my trans for a tq converter seal anyways. The piece of mind is well worth money. Although I didn't like the price gouging by some of your dealers.

Would a kit like this allow for more hp/torque on the 6t70?
This kit restores normal OE operation without buying an expensive new drum, but it does not raise clutch capacity to handle higher power input. Thanks for asking!

When will it be on 6T30?
Hi Dmitry, while we have seen some OE wave plate failures in the 6T30 models, during our studies of this problem we found that they are actually pretty rare. For this reason, we did not develop a 6T30 kit. Thanks for asking!
