I've done some of the 3-5-R wave plates but not nearly as many as I thought we would see. I think I've only seen around 10 in our shop this year. So far they've all been covered by warrarnty.
I have a 2014 buick lacrosse, it has the 6t70 M7W transmission.. 80 thousand miles, torque converter started to fail caused a late 3 to 2nd down shift, thought it was a power steering pump at first.. Apparently it was actually the converter. I had the transmission flushed, the winding sound stopped, but the hard downshift was still there, ended up having to get my transmission rebuilt cost me 5200 dollars. Manual says it doesn't need a fluid change until 95 thousand miles.. Guess they was wrong. Other than that the car has its been a awesome vehicle.
I enjoy the videos you guys put out. I have a question regarding this transmission. Can the 6T75 parts, that were designed to hold more input power, be installed into the 6T70? It is my understanding that the housing pattern on the 6T75 is different from the 6T70. I am trying to find ANY upgraded parts I can use for a car being built up for some autocross duty. I have a extra 6T70 to build while the car is still used. Thanks for any input you can provide.
They are mostly identical. The final drive and gear ratio are different for the all wheel drive PTU. There are a lot of upgrades for the 6T70 since 2007. You can search service bulletins for the updates. You can also get upgraded parts from companies like transtar. Best wishes
I recently bought a 2014 Chevy Captiva Sport with a 6T40 Transaxle When I slow behind someone that is turning, and then accelerate it does the wrong gear rattle like I was in a stick shift...
good demo except for the 6th gear explanation. you forgot to remove the paper towel to release the 3-5 inner pack. If you review your demo you'll notice you did not achieve overdrive. Otherwise thank you for posting this I'm not trying to be a troll here. this was very helpful
I bougjr mine at 97k miles I am 22 I do all my own work I learned from old timers how to properly do shit and ive raced across 3 states never had a transmission problem I have done know upgrades either
A transaxle is basically a transmission + differential. In a rear wheel drive car you have a transmission connected to a drive shaft that runs to the back of the car, then the differential splits the power and sends it to the rear wheels. In a front wheel drive car they bundle the differential and transmission into a single housing since there is no need to transmit the power to the rear of the vehicle. Rear or mid-engine vehicles with rear wheel drive will also use a transaxle for the same reason. That is why the GT40 has a transaxle, the engine is mounted just in front of the rear wheels so they can package the transmission and differential in the same unit.
Hi, can you help me please. I have 6t45 mh7 gearbox. When I changed from drive to reverse the car makes an excessive thump which jerk the car hard. Do you know what would cause this. Regards
I have a 1998 Chevy 2500 pickup rear wheel drive with a 5.7 , it has been sitting down for about a month, this morning when I pulled the dipstick engine running on a cold transmission , fluid bubbles out of the dipstick tube , I used to be in the automotive business I am thinking that the bleeder type on top of transmission is plugged , or because it has been sitting down for a while I should have waited for the fluid to settle down before i pulled out the dipstick , anybody else have any other ideas , your input is highly appreciated
simply a junk transmission. Heard of numerous problems with this unit. mine is acting up again at just 98,000 miles. downshifting to early when slowing down. eratic shifting. it cannot handle the 3.6 hp.
110,000 miles on mine. Did have a weeping leak on an axle seal covered under warranty. Awesome trans.
Hi, the first year 2007 had a few issues, but overall it is a good transaxle.
these transmissions are paying for my house with all the 3-5-r clutch waved plate failures
thanks for this...

Is that the part that causes the tranny to shake/shudder, especially at slower speeds like 45 mph at 1300 rpm?
Good demonstration, very interesting to see the details like that...
I love your comment Laura Freeser, same here and 5R55
also pay all my bills
Thanks for all the great videos! Man if I was near you I would go to your school in a second!
Great Teacher.

I have this in malibu 2008 should i be worried about wave plate thank you for this informative video

how would you go about determining a whine noise internal to transmission but not in all gears? say all gears but 5th for example?
I did notice on the last one I did the seal kit now comes with all new wave plates so I wonder if some of the others have started to fail.
Thanks for the video. What common problems does this transmission have if any? Thank you.
Many failures of the waved clutch steel plated in the early years. Later models are good
@@WeberAuto 2008 good or no?
No
WeberAuto how about 2016 impala?

Will the 6t75 bolt right on to a car with a 6t70?
I think so, but not sure
Maybe i am confused but transaxle isnt that a type of transmission like in the Ford GT40?

i have problems with my 6t75
There were many problems with the first generation transmissions.
Can anyone tell me the transmission fluid capacity of the Hydra-Matic 6T70?
I do not know, check your owner's manual specifications section. Best wishes
They hold 10 quarts, if dry.
Idont know why pontiac was talked down

It sounds like the fluid level is too high. It has gotten up into the rotating parts and getting whipped up. Best wishes.
+WeberAuto so nothing to worry about

I have this transmission in my 2014 Cruze 124k miles and my car has 320wtq no issues yet
Yep. Mine went out on my 14 impala at 44 thousand miles. 2 months after the warranty expired.
MrCoffeekelly damm. How was it resolved?
