The greatest ending ever in the Engliah League: Arsenal V Liverpool. 26th May 1989. 1st place Liverpool against 2nd place Arsenal playing against each other on the last fixture of the season which hasn' 't happened in over 100 years. Arsenal wanting to end a 19 year title drought and had to win against an 1980's Liverpool team that was the best team in the world at the time by two clear goals which I believe no team has done at Anfield for over 3 years to finish level on points and goal difference but with more goals scored, at Anfield where I believe Liverpool only lost couple times in 4 years and was on a 4 month unbeaten run in the League To score the second goal with that amazing build up with
seconds remaining in injury time, Aguero moment doesn 't come close to this mate This is the greatest ending in any football league in the world.
From another comment: Man City winning on the final day may have seemed more dramatic due to Sky Sports, media, money, and pundits, but on that day Utd were playing Sunderland and City playing QPR, not exactly top of the table stuff. This was incredible, the 2 top teams, Arsenal having a huge lead during the season and
then having to do what was literally impossible at Anfield. Don't let anyone tell you this wasn't the biggest 2 minutes in the history of the league.

To remember football pre-Premier League you’d have to be approaching or past 50 and people that age aren’t on the internet or often willing to talk about glorious moments because if they have to reach back that far then their club likely isn’t very big anymore and so wouldn’t be the topic of conversation that much.

But silver lining! The UK sell them the weapons, so someone is going to cash in.

Worth mentioning that Charlton and palace are local rivals, so what could of been a non event for a team safely modtable had a edge.
We still sing about relegating palace despite the fact they are two leagues above. The irony isn't lost on us but still nice to think of better days under curbs

I've got to say it's AGUEROOOOOO because of it's impact on the game. Relegation battles can make for interesting drama, but they ultimately have little impact outside of the club concerned.
Abramovich buying Chelsea was disruptive for the game, and set the tone of the EPL between 2004 and 2010 with a huge jump in player expenditure. However in the 10/11 season Man City joined the club by finishing third behind Chelsea and Man Utd. Unlike Chelsea they weren't a club expected to be able to challenge for the title before the money. That last minute goal was a clear indicator of where the game was heading.

the 2005 relegation scrap you've mentioned but not the 1994 one? Everton scoring in the last 10 minutes to save themselves and then Sheffield United conceding in the final minute to relegate themselves and ensure Ipswich (who had drawn 0-0 all afternoon but were only in the relegation zone for the final ten minutes of their match) stayed up. Southampton, Oldham and Manchester City were also involved in that scrap too with Oldham going through the trap door too.
