Azuma is the Alaska for Zao players who want to reduce their winrate further.
I absolutely love Yoshino though. A total pain to deal with if you know what you are doing lol. Because I have a Yoshi, I never needed an Azuma...
As a Zao player, I'm sold!

My first ever game in Azuma was hilarious. I ended up brawling a Yamato, and was able to time his salvos to start turning in whenever he was about to shoot. It left most of his shells in the water as I charged him and rammed for the win. Rudder shift on Azuma is actually just really good for survivability in the current meta versus fire prevention mod.
I have both and they are both good ships for sure ⚓ Good and honest review of them.
But in Asia, when you see Azuma/Yoshino in team, especially those who use range mod, 90% of the times it will be loss for the team.
Always sits on >15km, never shoot DD, and always the first one running away whenever they see big guns (which basically almost all T9+ BB) even though they are not even charging at/attacking those Azuma
Same in NA from my experience. They might as well be AFK.
Its the ship with the least impact on the game. She will run away if something just touches her and she is completely useless. The only thing it can do is spam HE at maximum range. Plus, she's terribly boring to play.

Survivor bias. You're going to blame them for not doing anything because they're probably alive at the end of the match and you aren't.

Wouldnt mind seeing the Thunderer or even the Conq . interested to see them actually played by someone that knows what they are doing and not just mindlessly slinging HE permanently

I am playing Agir with the heavy AP, and it is phenomenal, only thing missing is range. I got the ship in one of the Christmas containers during the Scharnhorst '43 event around the New Year. So I am not complaining, FREE ship is a FREE ship.

Blind shot that got you at the end there - pretty impressive from the Slava, potentially if you'd jinked a bit more you would have lived.
Fun fact: although the Azuma was never built, the US Navy got so worried about this class of ships that they designed & built the Alaska class to fight them.
Kind of the US built the Alaska's (Designed to counter things like the Graff Spree/"pocket battleships" because they had rumours and thought the Japanese were building the Azumas.. the Japanese never actually built them or even issued contracts to start production... In the event all the japanese cruisers were sunk before the Alaska "cruiser killers" could be built...
I think you can supplement HE alfa for fires on DDs and light cruisers. On ships like the Azuma though, I do agree with you. Had the Azuma had HE alfa like the Ägir does, it would likely not perform as good as it can as it is now.
I really want to get an Azuma but my memory of being a Yoshino/Azuma hunter keeps stopping me from purchasing.
I played Azuma in the tier nine 1v1 brawl and I smashed a bunch of Agirs and the others and I rarely lost. It is a strong ship for that. I did play one match against a Alaska and it destroyed me though so it seems like it is the best maybe

I got the azuma not too long ago. I usually have fun playing her, the experience isn't always the best cuz I'm not all too good with positioning but when I make it work it's a real blessing to have 29% fire chance with big alpha. Lobbing them high explosive melons into DDs faces is fun, just not for them.
Coal ships are fine, but what about the Maya? 👉👈
Just got azuma from azur lane the al azuma and honestly she is a sweet ship for my playstyle she suprisingly does well against uptier aswell
Between Agir and Azuma, I'd rather take my Azuma to battle, just because her guns are reliable. My Agir has been gathering dust ever since I got Siggy, just because Siggy is a flat out better Agir. That all being said, if I'm going to take a large cruiser out, I'm taking Alaska...

I have agir and azuma and yoshino but no alaska;( gotta say azuma is better like waaay better agir sucks it is bigger then bismarck/tirpitz/brandenburg and guns and armor are trash imo so id rather azuma for t9. Also i get better performance out of brandenburg then agir lol its so funny..

yamamoto is trash as far as commanders are concerned not very good skills and requiring a kraken is ridiculous most other nations have a condition they can activate quite easily and the Japanese only get a first kill and kraken which is ridiculous
