Not quite. The court basically put a temporary injunction (aka a hold) on the situation until it could further review the case. The injunction was issued on a Friday, and it was lifted on the following Tuesday when the court ruled against the company trying to prevent the workers from leaving. The court definitely should not have issued the injunction and was rightly criticized for it, but it was never a permanent ruling and was never likely to become permanent.

Actually some managers try to deny your resignation. I had a job in a health care store. We sold things like adult diapers, walkers, canes, bras for breast amputees, you get the drift. I was let go after a month due to my manager not wanting to deal with a trainee. I am not joking her fist sentence to me was "Ugh I told them I don't want another trainee. I am do close to my retirement." The second one was "We are NOT going to be friends." Okay fine by me. So like I said, I got a letter after a month stating they let me go. No reason or anything. I was sad but relieved to not dealing with the manager anymore. So I was fine with it. 3 days later HR called me and asked me if I would kindly ignore the pink slip and come to work on monday because they were shor staffed. They wanted to transfer me to another store in another city. I was 17, still living with my parents and they wanted me to go by train everyday out of my own budget which is illegal to do to a trainee in my country. I declined oh so kindly and started my training to be a chemist. I don't work as chemist anymore due to health issues mostly, but it was one of the best decisions I made.
It’s really not hard to make people feel appreciated, like they are a part of something important. BECAUSE THEY ARE. Just recognize what they already do and I PROMISE, you will not struggle with people “not wanting to work” 🙄 they will want to work, FOR YOU.
Something similar happened with the developers of Skullgirls Akshon Esports has a video about ( czcams.com/video/WZraXTNWyuw/video.html ) it but as I remember the story: Several staff left due to sexual harassment from the head. Predictably, with no staff he folds and the company crashes and burns. A bunch of the former devs form a new studio. Buy back the IP and rights, and return to developing the game.

But what if you're good at nothing? Its honestly similar with business and customer relations too. Gaming companies may have had spats of greed way back when, but they have nearly all become nothing but barely human pigs who stupidly grab at every little penny they can. They half ass their games, shove microtransactions in, over-charge for LESS content, abuse their workers, and these suits are undeserving of actual respect. Companies fail to realize that they DONT NEED EVERY PENNY IN THE UNIVERSE TO MAKE A PROFIT! Here's a secret, gaming companies...the way you make fat stacks? ...you make a good product, and sell it for a profit. You can do this while also still making your undeserved fat bucks at the top of the corporate ladder too, AND paying employees an actual living wage. I know, crazy concept! When you pigs stop nickel and diming the consumers, we'll stop verbally caving your teeth in with a golf club of harsh criticism. Im sorry to go on this side tangent, I just wanted to say that, like with bosses nickel and diming their employees (which also happens in the gaming industry), so too do publishers screw over the consumers all to make an undeserved unnecessary extra penny. I know that businesses exist to make money, but they make money by MAKING A GOOD PRODUCT, that's how this works, that's what they OWE the consumer whether they like it or not.

On that second story: the manager's story is probably legitimate that HR determines starting wage, but you have to remember that HR doesn't exist for the employees. There isn't really a labor shortage. It's a combination of more people being self-employed due to the pandemic and the same old story of those at the top trying to play those of us at the bottom. If there was a labor shortage, then it shouldn't have taken me 4 months to find a job despite applying to multiple jobs every single day. For 4 months straight. I'm only now beginning to hear back from some of them asking if I'd like to come in for an interview. Um... no! I applied like 6 months ago, I've been employed elsewhere for like 2 months now. If places were so desperate for employees, then it wouldn't *still* be *impossible* to get callbacks and interviews. Edit: The place I'm now working? Got back to me within a business week, the interview was exactly 10 days after I applied, and they extended me an offer 2 days after that. And it's the highest paying job I've ever had now. THAT'S how a business actually seeking employees behaves.
You have to realize tons of companies that are short just literally don’t pay. On top of that they get incentives from the government for having help wanted signs and act like they’re hiring.
I remember quitting my first job at place that treated me awfully I was going quit because of the cook but she got fired! Even with hours I was working I didn’t like my job being dishwasher.. Now I’m in job I love and I wouldn’t trade it for the world!

If workplaces listened to their employees there’d be less call-ins and more productively. Pay your employees well and value their time - otherwise they’re going to go elsewhere. Especially with the workplace shift that seems to be occurring right now.
I’ve seen places where pay is set by someone other than the hiring person and it is not negotiable. Puts the hiring person in a hard place when a good candidate demands better pay. If you’re lucky, places like this make the salary known up front and that it’s not negotiable…ends the interview rather than wastes the candidate’s time.

I'm glad you chose the posts you did rather than some of the more toxic "I should get paid for doing nothing" type posts. My workplace went remote for covid and productivity went up. So now my division of 10 people only go in on Wednesday mornings for meetings in person (our meetings involve a fair amount of socialization that we do actually enjoy) and then some of us will usually go grab lunch together (everyone is invited, but most like to get back home) before heading off. I feel sorry for people who have horrible jobs that they hate, I didn't have a job I actually loved until I was in my mid-30's so I completely understand. But I always worked and gave a solid effort and this meant consistently moving forward.
We were understaffed to bits the other week, my boss asked me to do three long shifts (about 11 hours) and my usual two 9 hours. He was doing a couple 16 hour shifts that week with us to keep things running smoothly and gave me a bottle of wine at the end of the week for doing those extra hours. I was happy to do it as not only was he putting in extra hours with us but he actually shows appreciation for our hard work. One of the best managers I’ve had. Always asks our opinions and let’s us express our ideas. I work in a fast food burrito place btw. I’m also becoming supervisor soon, so I feel like my work has been seen and I’m being rewarded for it
This is so true had my job treated me better and stood up for me when I said I was being harassed and discriminated against, then I would have stayed. Instead I got prorevenge. Id love to share my story sometime cause it's been 2 years in the making.
Love this video. What some people don't realise is that giving your boss a notice to quit is just a curtesy. You can just up and leave when you want and they can't do much about it. Lol.
In 2010 I turned a resignation letter into my supervisor as I was just looking to better things for myself. She, and I quote: "Cannot accept a resignation at this time, let me finish this meeting and I will come find you." Nothing came of it, I still left to do my own thing, but I did give her that meeting, because getting paid to sit down was way better than working lol.
If you sign a very specific contract when your hired then some can deny your request and if you quit they would take you to court for breach of contract. I highly doubt that's whats going on tho
Those are rather rare by comparison yes, most states have "at-will" laws that, while you can be fired for any reason without notice, you can also quit for any reason without notice... Of course, at-will laws are more for anti-union corporations than workers and nobody thought people would actually quit in droves looking for better work... >u>
Regarding the one where the letters were denied, there was a hospital that sued the employees that were leaving to go to another hospital. They unfortunately won
Covid forced us to work from home remotely with just one person being in office in case there is walk in traffic. We take turns covering the office. We can’t imagine how we ever managed to all work in the office every day. In truth, I think we passed the time talking around the coffee machine.
I just walked out of my job of 3 years because an employee I had disciplinary trouble with was harassing me and they choose her over me. She actively shoots up at work. Lol
There was a healthcare provider in Wisconsin that sued to keep 7 employees from leaving to work for a competitor. These were at-will employees with no contract specifications about time or working for competitors. A judge lifted the injunction about two weeks ago. That actually happened. In 2022.
Concerning the audio: I’ve listened to a majority of RSlash’s videos, and while I’ve noticed the slight-sounding transition in audio, I foremostly noticed visual mistakes. For example, there are a couple of videos that are mis-titled within solely the visuals. One ProRevenge video shows ‘EntitledParents’, as an example. However, the video title(the title of the video itself, not the title-showing intro), content, and audio are accurate to each other. Regardless, I love listening to it!
7:00 that's how a lot of corporations work unfortunately. The hiring manager is told how much they can offer the prospective employee, and they have zero say in the matter. And I genuinely feel for those managers, because say you need to hire a telecom engineer and HR says you can only offer $40k. What kind of telecom engineer is going to take a job for $40k?! So the position goes unfilled month after month with the other engineers being swamped with too much work. Then when you finally DO find someone willing to take the money, well you get what you pay for. You get an incompetent engineer that can't do the work, so the company basically pays some guy to drag the rest of the team down for a few months until he's terminated for incompetence, and then the hiring manager is on blast for making such a poor hiring decision. The manager looks like ass, the team is even farther behind than if the position had gone unfilled due to trying to prop that guy up all the time, and the company is thousands of dollars in the hole. Nobody wins. And why the hell does HR even care so much? It's not even their money! And what's more, by paying a fair salary and hiring a decent employee who sticks around, HR has LESS WORK TO DO. It's less work keeping someone in the system than it is to recruit, interview, and onboard a brand new hire.
Thank you for acknowledging Nathan and openly praising him. Most CZcamsrs who employ editors barely ever even mention them but they wouldn't be able to post a single video without their help.

@ drrate Don't interact with the bots. Just keep marking them as spam.
I remember how my current boss was so puzzled that I was so surprised and happy that he treated me like an ACTUAL human being with needs, wants and feelings by giving us lots of benefits and great pay. It was because of him that I realized all my previous bosses gave me the bare minimum and acted offended when we dare suggest that maybe they try a little harder to treat us like human beings.
@Just Dope shut.
I've come to conclude that humans are, by nature, pretty shitty creatures, and if given opportunity and lack of consequences, most humans will be as shitty humans as they can to garner the greatest short term benefits and completely screw over everyone else in the process while they reap the rewards. They often also have the audacity to take all the credit, blame you when their decisions go south, and push ever more tyrannical authoritarian policies whenever they can to solidify you as their personal slaves. The original definition of Jihad, that is, the *struggle* (against being a shitty human being), is very applicable to the world, even as a non-Muslim. None of the world religions would ever talk about sin and sinners being bad if it wasn't so easy to sin and so hard to not sin. -1 Faith in Humanity ever time I hear these stories.

I once applied to a director of security position. I showed up to the interview and they told me it was for a part time guard position. I took my resume back and walked out of the room.
I'm not sure how they think lying on the job posting will work out for them.

I am do close to my retirement." The second one was "We are NOT going to be friends."
Okay fine by me.
Loved the day-care story: just keep the business and "fire" the lousy boss.
Something similar happened with the developers of Skullgirls Akshon Esports has a video about ( czcams.com/video/WZraXTNWyuw/video.html ) it but as I remember the story:
Several staff left due to sexual harassment from the head. Every others quit just to protest and support the victims.
The remaining staff wanted to buy the ownswer out but he gave them some bulls*** ultimatum.
They declined and he fired them. Predictably, with no staff he folds and the company crashes and burns. A bunch of the former devs form a new studio. Buy back the IP and rights, and return to developing the game.
Turns out if you quit overpaying the boss who does nothing you get better results
That first story is genuinly one of the most wholesome working stories I've heard in a long time.
Thank you Nathan and R Slash for all your hard work!
Re: Not accepting resignations, this is a thing for militaries. Sometimes, when high ranking officers think they did a bad job, they wish to resign their post, but the politicians in power don't let them for whatever reason.
Politicians in power don't resign when they make catastrophic decisions. They often double down on the failure by blaming someone below them. Those officers need to be in those positions so the politicians can blame them when their own plans for the military go tits up.
the thing with the army is that you probably wont have someone that can occupy that place withouth a hell of a training and even then some jobs are jobs that you gain after someone said that you will get that promotion. A private job can't do it, they cant stop you from leaving and its funny that they think they can
8:50 "How is it possible that idiots are always the ones who rise to power?"
Think of it this way. If you're good at math, you become an accountant, physicist, or a mathematician. If you're good at solving complex problems and have empathy you become a doctor. If you're good with turning abstract ideas into practical ones, you become an engineer. But what if you're good at nothing? What if you have no life skills, but a massive ego that tells you you're better than anyone despite what reality is screaming at you, and your parents will pay for whatever education you take? Then you have a business admin degree.
This is ultimately why you have so many inept managers. The system is set up to allow this.
Me: I quit!
Boss: What about your 2 week notice?
Me: In 2 weeks you'll notice I have not been to work for 2 weeks!

the boss in the second post be like:
okay, i understand that we dont offer enough money for you to accept this job and if we offered more money then you would do the job, but how about we give you nothing and you do it anyways?
at one of my job we had this representative, he did his nice little spiel that basically came down to ' we want you to work more, harder, and more flexible' I asked the question he did not want to hear 'do we get paid more too' he went on a rant on how we should be thankful we had a job. I had to bite my tongue not to comment 'you could have just said no'. The annoying part is this is with a company for people with minor disabilities that receives pay that is a little above the unemployment rate.
Even before the labor shortage, I had my resignation letter ripped up and denied and a coworker was trying to quit for a month becuase they kept throwing it away and scheduling him anyway.
He just shudnt have shown up if they wanna pay him Thats ok isnt it
I have an advantage if it comes to that, I can literally say 'do you wanna do this the normal way or do you wanna talk to my older brother who is a lawyer cause he will find some legal thing and make a big problem for you.
@@tazhienunurbusinezz1703 Wait what SERIOUSLY? Hold up can you find this like in legal records for me? I think it's time we start writing some letters to congress if that's actually the case, what the FUCK
@@Starfloofle They're somewhat misrepresenting the fiduciary duty that a publicly traded company owes to its stockholders. Basically, it means that companies are not supposed to take actions that they know hurt their stockholders.
The thing is, there is a huge amount of latitude allowed when it comes to making business decisions. A corporation might decide to, for instance, adopt a business strategy that may not make the highest return but is more morally ethical than one that would maximize returns, and that would be perfectly legal.
Just look back at the indie game boom of the 2010’s! Titles like FNaF, Undertale, Bendy & the Ink Machine, and Cuphead got way more money and attention than a lot of AAA titles within the same year!
On that second story: the manager's story is probably legitimate that HR determines starting wage, but you have to remember that HR doesn't exist for the employees. It exists to fill vacancies for and protect the company. Shafting new hires is one way they keep costs down for the company.
Also, how is it idiots rise to power? Getting "kicked upstairs" as opposed to "kicked out".
because capitalism is evil and stupid.
I love Malicious Compliance and Pro Revenge, but the good bosses and workers fighting back are the most wholesome thing on Reddit. BTW, not accepting resignations is called slavery, and there is no labor shortage, just a shortage of bosses willing to pay a decent wage.

seriously, that first story is such a simple way of explaining how simple it SHOULD be, people are not afraid of work, they just don't want to work hard for basic pay where they need to struggle from month to month, mental health improves and so many other things have a (positive) domino effect from that
It’s called the anti work subreddit not the “not afraid of work” subreddit. If you think you can be a better employer than start your own company
How to make me happy as an employee:
1. Give me a task.
2. Set a deadline.
3. LEAVE
Oh, and also pay.
same I have a 'team leader' that I am giving a year maybe 2 until he is gonna look for greener pastures or switched out for incompetence whichever comes first and he wants to be 'involved in my work' and I am like 'please put your attention on those who actually need you and leave me alone'
As a person in a management position this warms my heart to hear that you and your editor get along so well and therefore enjoying the work you do put out more
Hope you're having a great day Nathan from one Nathan to another
There isn't really a labor shortage.
GAW! Some companies just have crappy communication systems, and some companies just don't have basic communication skills.
You have to realize tons of companies that are short just literally don’t pay. On top of that they get incentives from the government for having help wanted signs and act like they’re hiring.

"We'll give you a day off without pay to reconsider." You know what would get me to reconsider? A day off WITH pay.
If workplaces listened to their employees there’d be less call-ins and more productively. Pay your employees well and value their time - otherwise they’re going to go elsewhere. Especially with the workplace shift that seems to be occurring right now.
Thank you Nathan, we all appropriate your work. I only wish I could have been thanking you sooner lol

Love your work R/slash. You too Nathan. We all appreciate it, sometimes more than you might even be able to imagine🙂

Love this video. What some people don't realise is that giving your boss a notice to quit is just a curtesy. You can just up and leave when you want and they can't do much about it. Lol.
I hope that everyone is having a good Wednesday!
I am because I don't have to work today. Tomorrow, the real work begins. *dramatic music plays*
That's messed up :/
Covid forced us to work from home remotely with just one person being in office in case there is walk in traffic. We take turns covering the office. We can’t imagine how we ever managed to all work in the office every day. In truth, I think we passed the time talking around the coffee machine.

You answered your own question. This strategy in HR keeps the work flooding in for HR reps. Why change the system when the system benefits them?
I want to know what kind of noob actually goes with it when the boss denies their quitting, as if it’s a request
