    Bob, thanks for the in depth response! This will be fun. The physics behind these engines is elegant even though they sound... well, kinda loud. Exhaust nozzle shape interests me. Have you looked at flared vs straight vs tapered, what effect?

    • @RobertMaddox
      @RobertMaddox  Před 6 lety +3

      I don't believe there is a difference, I just flair the ends on bigger engines because it make them stuff, the sheet metal is then.

    • @TechIngredients
      @TechIngredients Před 6 lety +4

      OK, we'll try it. On supersonic flows, flaring increases thrust. On subsonic flows, tapering can increase thrust or choke the engine to stop. Within the exhaust pipe the velocity exceeds 2,000ft/second, but this is subsonic at 2,000 degrees F. At some point, the cooling gas becomes supersonic (loud). Ya gotta love it.

Scared the living crap out of ourselves first time it started. We really were not prepared for how loud it was! Plus, we were already kind of nervous about the whole project. Am I correct in in assuming that the spark plug is only used to initiate the combustion and after that the "retracting" flame front for each cycle is what ignites the fuel? Which seems amazing at 108 cycles per second that is a lot of reversing of flow direction.

      🔴 What Is Islam? ⚠️
      🔴 Islam is not just another religion.
      🔵 It is the same message preached by Moses, Jesus and Abraham.
      🔴 Islam literally means ‘submission to God’ and it teaches us to have a direct relationship with God.
      🔵 It reminds us that since God created us, no one should be worshipped except God alone.
      🔴 It also teaches that God is nothing like a human being or like anything that we can imagine.
      🌍 The concept of God is summarized in the Quran as:
      📖 { “Say, He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He does not give birth, nor was He born, and there is nothing like Him.”} (Quran 112:1-4)[4] 📚
      🔴 Becoming a Muslim is not turning your back to Jesus.
      🔵 Rather it’s going back to the original teachings of Jesus and obeying him.
