Are all Yakuza games this nuts? Is this what I've been missing out on all these years?
Pretty much; yes!
Yes you have. It does give a different impression based on the case sleeves. So serious they are.
Well, yes and no. No, the other games are 3rd person beat 'em up style games. Not a RPG style game with a party. And yes, the other Yakuza games have this level of wackiness built into them. If you want to try the older games, I'd recommend starting with Yakuza 0. It isn't the first game, but story wise its the first event and the game is amazing.
Yes they are, if you haven't played any yet Yakuza 0 is 5 bucks on steam atm, and Kiwami is around $10 iirc.
I want one of those giant Roombas just to ride around town on.
EDIT: The fact that it subsequently goes on a rampage has not changed my mind about this.
I know a lot of people are gonna disagree, but I do have trouble with one of my eyes, so having the audio in english at the bits you want standing out when compression makes the text a little difficult for someone like me to see was really helpful. Thank you!!

I don’t know yet what happens to Ichiban in the main story but I’m imagining whatever status he achieves at the end makes it even funnier that he’s now full time on wacky antics

"The die is cast" meaning that now the action has been taken, there is no turning back. the crossing of the rubicon was considered the symbolic moment that marks the beginning of the roman civil war.
Sure, but does it mean "die is cast" as in game dice having been thrown, or as in a mould for solidifying metal in a specific shape having finished drying?

I've never played a Yakuza game before, but I really really want to play one now. The Karaoke sold it for me.
Can't say about giant roombas and kart racing, but I'm sure that country ranking in Karaoke is real. It depends on a karaoke chain, but 2 biggest ones have the ranking. And you can rent costumes and props for karaoke nights. I can say that the karaoke scene is almost normal at least for people who go to karaoke at night and use unlimited alcohol plan, props and costumes XD And there are a lot of them. It's impossible to practice singing in the flat, because you can be evicted from the property for too much noise, so most people go to karaoke to practice. It's always nice to rent a karaoke room and sing as loud as you want. Another is to go to a park after 6 p.m., (it's dark really early in Japan) because there is no one there at that time and practice in the park. You're forced to use the second method if you don;t have money, though. But I like karaoke in Japan much more than in european countries. I don't like open hall with people taking a turn to sing with 20 or more other people.

Fun platypus fact of the day: it's actually a carnivore! They use their bills to find worms, insect larvae and small crustaceans via electrolocation.
It's not electrocution. They have special ankle barbs which they use to inject a neurotoxin into their prey. I'm not sure how strong the neurotoxin is though.
