This. Hitman 3 Ways To Plays were my introduction to this channel, and I haven't looked back since.
I'm so glad they've been doing more Let's Plays recently! That's some of my favourite Oxbox content and it felt like they kind of moved away from them in recent years (Although I love all of their content)

18:47 Andy saying what we're all thinking.
I know literally nothing about Yakuza and went from zero to unbelievably invested in the space of one homoerotic swordfight. Andy is the voice of the people.
@@mattball8622 100% same. I only know exactly what Andy has played on the channel.
@@langdon7x Good news! A significant portion, if not the outright majority, of the Yakuza fanbase agrees with you and Andy. Here's hoping we finally get canon Kazumaji in the next main series game.
@@dominateeye if the entire Yakuza series is this gay I can't believe I've slept on it this whole time
@@mattball8622 Oh, just wait until you get to the Ichiban era. Bisexual polycule bigger than Seattle. It's great
I love seeing how happy Andy got when Majima showed up!
I was equally excited. Hearing everyone fangirl over him was hilarious. (I also didn't realize how much I needed Majima in a hakama and open robe outfit in my life. 🥵 )
I know! Jane’s happiness when the cute shibu made a appearance is great too 😃
@@lisah-p8474Wouldn't be odd for him to have one in "normal times" anyways lol
The problem with those 1860's guns is they're mostly all for Sho...
It's hard to talk about Japanese swords on the internet- it's a rather Tachi subject:)
can't take Majima of these puns
Andy’s unbridled joy when Majima appeared was wonderful! And I’m general I’m just really excited to play this game, Ryoma is such a mood
Hearing about the Shinsengumi and the Wolves of Mibu really reminds me of Rurouni Kenshin 😅
Yeah, me too. I think this game takes place right before the Meiji era, when the show takes place, so that makes sense.
Had this preordered for so long, I’m virtually vibrating with excitement
I have never even *heard of* Yakuza doing Ghost of Tsushima and this is incredible. I'll probably like it even more than Like a Dragon or the Judgment games
@@bustinarant There's Ishin and another that came out in 2008 but is still only released in Japan set in 1584-1645 called Kenzan.
I am absolutely going to start using "Your mochi, your mess." at work when things don't concern my dept. :D Yakuza is truly the gift that keeps on giving!
:edit: 23:30 LOLWUT I had no idea Don Quijote was around back then! 🤣 great store, btw.
lol, guessing you are joking, but while it's a cute easter egg, Don Quijote wasn't around back then. This game was set in the late 1800's, and the store chain didn't begin until the late 1900's. The namesake of Don Quixote wouldn't have even come to Japan yet, as they had only really just began interacting with the outside world, and not entirely by choice, either. The game seems to give a lot of deference to the time period, but as in all Yakuza games, takes plenty of liberties, it seems.
Totally stealing "nani the actual f mate" for my personal lexicon, ta
Could swear I heard centuries-worth of shogi players howling for blood when Andy referred to the game as dice. Serious shogi players are scary, man.
It's lightly referred to as Japanese chess, but has even more convoluted and strategic rules. Competent players will even take handicaps of removing pieces from the board when facing less-competent players.
Kuhum! Anyway! This game looks totally hatstand, definitely a Yakuza title.
It gets a black mark for not making doge pettable though.
Aside from Red Dead Redemption, I think Yakuza fits Andy so well as a game
In a past life, Andy was Rising Zan, the Samurai Gunman.
Ohh, I wish they had done "Dirge of the Warrior", it's an absolute banger of a Majima song.
It's great having all of these gameplay videos recently. Thanks oxbox!
This. Hitman 3 Ways To Plays were my introduction to this channel, and I haven't looked back since.
Mikes ishin pun was gold
I was already ready to thank andy for that reaction in 18:06 but after 18:48...thank *you*, andy
Loving the idea of a Geoff Majima 🤣
The devs have IIRC said that the best way to look at side games like Ishin is as Kiryu and company acting in a cheesy period drama.
Look....if Batman can break a dude's spine in 8 places and not kill them then Ryu can shoot a guy in the face a few times and not kill him. It only makes sense.
Yakuza karaoke is always so hard by rhythm game standards because it feels like the speed changes every line.
Like, is it just me?
It does, it’s why they changed the system in 6 onwards to be consistently the same speed.
Oof, looks like they weren't paying enough attention to how much it costs to sing a single song, two more songs and they're in the gutter. Karaoke is a rich man's game apparently.
the cost covers emotional damages to those poor drummers, drumming the same songs for every mournful rōnin who drops by to sing their hearts out.
Andy had 4 Ryo remaining, so 40,000 Mon. But yeah, this was really confusing for me when starting the game :)
@@KelMindelan Ah, I had no idea that Ryo was a 10k indicator, that's good to know when I get around to playing this.
this is making me so nostalgic for the old way of the samurai games. RIP Way of the Samurai, gone but not forgotten.
Gosh! Way of the Samurai was SO fun
Was going to say the same thing. I'm forever hoping they'll revive the series.
"How specific a fighting style are we talking about?"
*Hard cut to Majima peeking out of a trash can*
Yesss, gameplay videos. I hoping they do more like this and the Goldeneye ones because these are really my favourite parts of what I watch Oxboxtra for.
So glad Andy got to check this one out early and I hope we get more karaoke soon!
I was curious about the firearm that he was using and turns out japan had firearms as early as 13th century when they were nothing but iron tubes
What he seems to be using is a smith&western army no.2 which was introduced in 1863! Fascinating stuff!
Ishin is set 1853-1867
@@TheRedMage01 oh cool thanks for clarifying 👍
I've been waiting for this game!! Played the demo yesterday in anticipation.
Thats a solid bit of toxic Mochismo. Stealing snacks?! What a terrible injustice.
Getting streams at 4 in the avo (instead of 11pm) is a delightful new experience! Hello Europe! 😆💕
loved Mike's Ishin pun and nice to see the karaoke towards the end of the video
Coma dream? Nah. This is just the SpongeBob level about his Yakuza friends.
Walking around blasting a pistol in the samurai era just makes me think of Futurama
"Who needs courage? When you have... A gun"
Mike got it backwards. Ronin are samurai without a master and were seen as dishonorable.
Are we to expect oxbox videos on Saturday and Sunday as well?
That would make one heck of an OXweek!
It's good to see that the devs kept the most important aspect of the Yakuza series
Even though this looks like the most insane samurai movie BS I have ever seen
If it's anything like the regular Yakuza games this is somehow going to turn out to be like the most accurate showing of the samurai era in video game history.
This looks great, plus karaoke with you guys in these games is hilarious and good in equal measure, thank you for the entertainment Andy, Jane and Mike, much appreciated.
Jane holding back her look of disgust at Mike's bad puns must have taken a lot of willpower.
SPOILER
Karaoke starts at 24:48
I don't know if you need to label this as a spoiler, it's literally in the thumbnail of the video.
@@abydosianchulac2 It might be a spoiler that it only starts 2/3 of the way through. 🤣
Never played a Yakuza game in my life, but I'm seriously tempted to get this one if only because of the setting and they put real historical figures in it.
They made another in 2008 called Kenzan, set in 1584-1645, where you play as Miyamoto Musashi, but it's still only been released in Japan.
From karate to karaoke
Logic puzzle accusation explanation:
Assuming that A. Only the thieves are lying, and B. The guilty parties will not implicate each other-
The 5th implicated 3rd and 4th while being implicated 1st so he could only be in league with the 2nd and the others would need to be telling the truth. However, 3rd said it was undoubtedly 4th, and 2nd was innocent which would give us more than the maximum number of liars and is, therefore, not a viable option. Which means that 5th had no possible conspirators and was thus innocent. Since 1st accused 5th who is innocent then he is absolutely guilty. 2nd implicated 1st so he is not his conspirator and is therefore innocent. 4th accused the innocent 2nd so he can be assumed to be guilty. 1st and 4th did not implicate each other, and the stories of 2nd, 3rd, and 5th do not conflict with the possibility of 1st and 4th being the culprits.
Yakuza: Like a Shogun
2:05
Mike: "Have you been Ishin to play this?"
Andy: *thinking* not gonna fall for that, Ellen!
😋
Good to know that the OX Team are KazuMaji shippers too. 😆
I'm dying to play this game!
4:50 Super Monkey Ball seems time period acceptable.
I was waiting for "Like and subscribe a dragon"
I am not ashamed to say I know all the words to Baka Mitai and will sing along every time
Me, having grown up on Rurouni Kenshin and hearing the words "Shinsengumi" and "Mibu Wolves": !!!!!!
I’m just here for the karaoke
Mike's biggest mistake of his Oxbox life, passing over "Samurai Ondo/Dirge if the Warrior"
Andy looks so happy and excited in the thumbnail, it truly is wonderful!
also Andy's probably already done it by now, but Samurai Ondo is iconic, I played the game back when it was Japanese only and hearing Ryomo start a domestic over Okita not remembering the words was very dear to my heart
You know they call it a button masher but from the sound of things it's really more about clicking than mashing.
I feel that "Your mochi, your mess" is a very profound saying. Somehow.
Well now I know why they used bayonets in the civil war: gun-only strats had crummy dps in the 1860s.
22:30 no Mike actually the exact opposite
3:08 There are no bad doggos :D
Of course Andy is the Yakuza fan. I always knew he was a man of culture.
So have we found the part in Like a dragon where Kiriyu dies and this is the last thing that goes through his head?
1860s guns would include revolvers like the colt navy and colt patterson. i wouldnt discount them
According to my reliable and well reputed source "Gintama" The Shinsengumi were some manner of police force during that times
That is a uniquely reputed source 😂
25:00 for karaoke
It's great that even set the last they stil have the miny games
Who stole the mochi from the mochi jar
Love the chaos. Also the game looks great too!
i want to watch them play wild hearts
Kiryu has never killed anyone, ever... but his alter ego Sakamoto Ryoma is a different story
Ok I know that guns are accurate but it’s still so funny to me that a samurai is running around with a gun.
Good to see Majima (Soji) in this segment..... and Baka Mitai doing a comeback. XD
Samurai Yakuza? Sold!
Just wait until you get to Majima's game of strip mahjong.
I was wondering if Don Quijote could've gotten to Japan at this point int time, and it might've via the Portuguese
Looks fun!
No game franchise could ever mesh better with the style of the Oxbox crew than Hitman, but the silver medal has to go to the Yakuza games!
For the algorithm.
Okay this game actually looks pretty badass
A true samurai would never use a gun
Game so pretty
Iji Sakura is my all time favorite Yakuza song. One could even say I've been waiting for this game for years primarily so I could karaoke this song in it's original setting. (Don't get me wrong the version in 0 slaps but ...)
Can’t believe Andy invented karaoke in 1860. 😂
Fun!
This kinda makes me think of South Park, mainly so I can forget how completely shit I am at these rhythm games :
Hey hey let's go!, kenka suru
Taisetsu na mono, protect my balls
Boku ga warui, so let's fighting
Let's fighting love
Let's fighting love
Shame Andy didn't play Ichizu Samurai during karaoke.
I would sing all the songs, if I own this game. xD
Not that I don't greatly enjoy Mike and Jane's commentary, but anybody knows where I can find a full version of this Baka Mitai?
Ownin’ that Ronin
So it's Yakuza meets way of the samurai
Wait, you are actually gamers? Sorry, I couldn't resist. Thank you for such a fun and different look into your lives. It's one thing for me to hear you talk about gaming, but to see you guys in real time made my day.
Too bad Kenzan didn't remaster to PS5 version 😔
Andy’s getting his ass kicked.
I love that they changed the orchestration of Baka mitai to use traditional instruments
I wonder why they chose to put a Don Quijote store when the 1st one opened in 1989?
I want to go back to Kyoto so bad...
21:37 "Ok, we've got ..shogi. That's a dice game." O_O What? Seriously, Andy? For someone who seems to have such an appreciation for Japanese culture to mess up one of the oldest and most venerated games of the nation? Shogi is Japanese chess. There's more to it than that, but I don't know enough to go into it.
not truehearted samurai..
Is it me or this story is basically a cooler version of Shenmue?
Aww man it’s not turn based 😢
