    I have specialized in Catalysts from the beginning, for years. And I agree with your #1! I thought as you do every time I looked at "upgrading" to that ship. And as you suggest, I prefer a Hecate. I've always been disappointed that the supposed "more advanced" form of the Catalyst was so obviously lame that I have never even gotten past "thinking" about fitting and trying one. The numbers were always wrong, every time I looked at it.

    - Horrendous projection for a battlecruiser.
    - Far weaker than the Damnation in terms of raw armor. Far weaker than the Astarte and Eos in terms of rep.
    - Not enough mids for an acceptable dual rep solo ship.

  • @cafi739
    @cafi739 Před 4 lety +6

    The nighthawk bit isn't totally true. It spent a solid couple of years as the absolute king of pve and pvp to some extent, actually. In the era of the passive shield drake, the nighthawk had the single strongest passive shield tank possible in the game (excluding caps) thanks to the caldari t2 resist profile. CCP have never buffed the ship once, ever, to my recollection, and in every balance pass that had anything to do with command ships it was nerfed in some way, with the most recent one ("recent", as it was almost 9 years ago now I think) they completely fucked up it's slot layout and base ehp. Combined with the HML/HAM nerf that came after that, it was just too much.
    The most effective fit for the nighthawk currently is a doubleweb ham mjd armour brawler.

    I have to agree with this list especially combat interceptors. When they had the nullify bonus they were regularly used as psuedo assault frigates and did well because of the additional combat bonuses over fleet interceptors but now there's no point to them for the reasons you outlined. I'm sad to see the Fleet Stabber make the list I used to love that ship but power creep is a bitch.
    Only thing I'd really change on this list is an honorable mention to most laser based platforms cruiser and up. Some can be decent but between damage lock, cap warfare being so common, and especially the cost of other options.. just seems many don't really have a place anymore. Though frigate and destroyer hulls seem to still have a strong presence in the meta.

  • @TheGerrok
    @TheGerrok Před 4 lety

    I'm mostly a PvE player, but I'm going to nit pick on your geddon navy numbers.
    The effective turrets on the geddon navy is 7/.75 = 9.3 instead of 8.75. The geddon navy is more efficient in damage/GJ than the abaddon as well. If x is the damage you get per GJ then the abaddon has 1.35x, where the geddon navy is x/.5 = 2x.
    The geddon navy is tight on fittings like you said. The other problem is that the niche it has is tiny. Both the bhaalgorn and nightmare have the marauder 100% damage bonus, which gives them a hidden 100% activation cost bonus in addition to giving them extra slots to fit with. The apoc and apoc navy both out range it, which allows them to use higher damage lenses to keep pace in dps. The abaddon, like you said, has crazy high damage.
    Honestly you could've just made the video about any of the navy faction ships. It's easier to pick out the ones that aren't trash.

Some of my worst moments in gaming were the ones where someone ran up to me and said, "Hey, you are wearing the wrong hat for your level. You need to .....blah blah." No one does that to me in Eve. In fact, some of my best moments were in Eve where I got to be a hero, and people have asked, "Why did you do that? REEEEEE first one is stabber fleet!?
    While i DO agree its been kinda power-creeped into less-than-strong status. honestly i just dont see it as being one of the top 5 worst..
    Dual prop gives you a huge engagement profile. good fitting, tracking bonus (i'll come back to this) and good price/cost.
    as for the tracking bonus. stabber fleet can pull off a very surprising and memey fit, my personal favourite fit atm.
    720 arty fit.
    it cant 1 shot. it breaks that one rule of arty. needing 4k volley. it doesnt get that.
    instead its a hull that goes 4k. with tracking bonus'd 720's.
    i fuck with ramjags with this fit, its good fun!
    The stabber fleet IS a good ship, in almost any way it CAN be, is a shame the cynabal is edging it out more and more nowadays. but it DEFINITELY would not be on my personal top 5
    Also. combat ceptors aint shit, raptor and taranis can FUCK, SHIT, UP. and comparing them to fleet ceptors is honestly kinda silly.
    Your comparing them to a "class" with one job. TACKLE. thats it. of course there's gonna be a stiletto on damn near every killmail, especially nowdays with abyssals making bling points/scrams even easier to access.
    Their now a faster assault frigate platform, lacking somewhat for sure since the asscontrol came out. they were NEVER the tackle platform. so while they have definitly dropped off in kills compared to tackeceptors. your comparing apples to oranges.
    their probloem has really just been powercreep, but even with it they can still hang.
    the problem is, why fly a raptor/taranis/claw, when you could just fly a kikimora or even retri and just wipe out the same targets, and more??
    Again. not on my personal top 5. they are a damn good class, people just need to get over that they dont get nullification anymore, and they got powercreeped on as well, but are still a damn good platform
    i ABSOLUTELY agree with nighthawk and armageddon navy. but eris? man that thing is the best memeboat around.. ok maybe its a bit shit too.. but... ma memes... :(
    my replacements for the stabber fleet and combat ceptors.
    Crusader and apoc.
    Crusader was shit even before the nullification removal, claw was the fleet boat, taranis was the "i wanna go big game hunting" ship, and the raptor was the 1v1 "king" of combat ceptors. the others can easily do well without nullification, crusader was shit WITH it.
    and the apoc. for laser fleet boats. you take an abbadon. or arty fleet boats even..
    it pretty much has no role outside of that. and its not particularly good at it.
    of course. thats just my obnoxious opinion. i love the video as always jin!

    • @apandelescu
      @apandelescu Před 4 lety +1

      I would say that the price/usefulness is also a metric and the stFI kinda fails at that - it's a worse cynabal, or a slightly better stabber but the price tag makes it not worth it.

    • @BlueEyesGaming
      @BlueEyesGaming Před 4 lety +1

      @@apandelescu Ehh, i disagree there. tbh i find it more worth than the cynabal in price/usefulness.. is it AS good? No. but its also alot cheaper. at 1/3 the cost.
      And its DEFINITLY not just a "Slighlty better stabber" regular stabber suffers from cap issues. damage issues, or tank issues, or 2 of the 3. stabber fleet gets away with it.
      if you want a roaming ship, that can engage anything from frigates to occasionally battleships (yes. i took on a PVP fit raven in a stabber fleet, i won, but only with help from someone in an omen navy), A ship that doesnt cost over 100mill, is fun to learn and fly, is adaptable and can forgive piloting errors.
      Stabber fleet is FAR better than anyone remembers. also a bonus point to it for that ;)

    There's only one thing the eris does better than the other dictors (aside from name tank - I've switched from pronouncing it properly to enunciating just the letter e than -ris), and that's 50mn memes. you could just use a combat prober for anything that's useful for, and one BS volley will bring it down, but it can launch a bubble and be out of it in around the same tick which is funny and idk maybe if you need spaced bubbles RIGHT NOW.
