    I'm 17 minutes into the video and taking a break because I have stuff I need to do, but so far this has been informative. I used to have an alpha viable corax I used to run t0 abyssals but since my combat skills are low, I stopped after losing 2 in one day. I've currently been in hisec mining but have been known in my corp to fly a tanked up procurer into serpantis refuges to drone boat the site with 4 hobgoblin 1's while searching for pyroxeres.
    It's unorthodox to say the least, but the approximately 48k ehp has enough shield tank to run the refuges and survive. I do pin the site so once it's clear I can return in a noctis to salvage. I would like to get out of the proc into a more suitable ratting ship and this video seems to be a good starting point to knowing what I need

The VNI fitting is ok, but can be improve, no need to use any defensive modules (resistanses, etc) if you are speed tanking, I do havens focusing my fitting on cap an velocity with 4 damage drone augmentors. Cheers.

    forgot to mention that Dens .. Rally Points .. Hubs have named variants as well
    .. the additional point is that salvage takes up little space .. fractions of 1m3
    .. salvaging a yellow wreck will not get a suspect flag -- LOOTING the yellow wreck will ( 27:18 on ) salvaging and looting are different game mechanics
    .. drop the MTU from your combat ship (if in destroyer or cruiser) when you start a site
    .. pick it up at the end and bookmark that point to return for salvaging
    -- I create bookmarks akin to ( a 1524 ) letter order and time stamps to help me keep track
    .. I have flown a Tristan fit akin to a Vexor .. drones, tank, prop, tractor beams and salvagers in the highs. I warp into a system, bookmark all higher sites (Den, Refuge I use the id# from the scanner _THD 345_ ) and run the lower ones immediately. with enough skills, the Tristan can run a Refuge but the others are quicker. also a majority of ratters don't bother looting OR salvaging the wrecks. so if someone else has run the Den or Refuge in the meantime, I can come in and salvage ( NOT LOOT ) the wrecks for more income without getting a suspect tag

    27:24 I'm going to have to correct the good doctor here: In 2022, anyone can *salvage* (i.e. use a salvage module on) any wreck, including yellow wrecks, without penalty. However, should you *loot* a yellow wreck, then you'll incur a suspect timer and hence can be freely engaged by anyone without Concord intervention.
    Given the date of the video, it's entirely possible the mechanic has changed within the past four years; though I can't recall if that's the case or not.

  • @ClashClash89
    @ClashClash89 Před 5 lety +3

    First of all nice video. Very nice info for all new ratters. But at 38 min mark you claim 40 mil in combined stuff in 14 minutes. You include the salvage value... But 14 min seems a little bit short if you include the reshipping and salvaging. Also you mention the hauling issue that certainly will arise with this method and mentio. Red frog but dont go into any detail what they are. Are they haulers? In addition i have heard of people specialized in salvaging a while back. You'd just contract them your bookmark, they take care of the rest and pay you a certain cut.
    And one very big oversight would be not mentioning escalations and the ded rated signatures. I make my living (plexing account + some toys to welp) exclusively in HS this way. A 5/10 is worth at least 43mil in a overseer drop + bounties and the chance of Ded-/ faction- mods, which can quickly sum up a few hundred mil on a single site. It all depends on RNGesus at that point.

    I notice that this guide primarily focuses on the idea of ratting solo. My girlfriend and I are just getting into the game. Is there an efficient way we could go ratting together? Or are there better things we could be doing as a pair?

    • @JuriusDoctor
      @JuriusDoctor  Před 4 lety +7

      Hi @Sara. This is a GREAT question, and yes. There are a couple of successful strategies.
      I'll start by saying that EVE is almost always better when playing with others, and the potential to build efficiencies grows the more you scale your efforts in New Eden. This is why many corporations in EVE want you to be on voice or some other comms regularly, for tactical and strategic cooridnation.
      Now, let's look at the more popular efficient strategies which all start with forming a fleet together (right click on the other's name and choose "Form Fleet With..." from the context menu):
      1. Repeat the process in the video together, independently or doubling up combat running, but share hauling duties. Each of you carries one or more MTUs and you alternate sites, bookmarking and dropping MTUs as you go. When a system is cleared, you switch to salvaging destroyers and sweep up the wrecks before they disappear from space (they start degrading immediately nad disappear after 2 hours). Then when the wrecks are gon, switch to industrial ships (colloquially 'haulers') and pick up the MTUs and the goods.
      2. The other option, often more efficient, is to have one of you running the sites and the other following behind and offering support, but also salvaging. For example, if the support flies an Algos or a Dragoon you can carry combat drones and offer support clearing the site while still having lots of upper slots for salvagers. Warp to a site together, orbit, and drop drones and MTU. Sweep as you go.
      I hope this helps.

      I would begin by looking at your skills. A very good fitting for your Vexor can run out of power - while it might be stable for someone else - if your skills aren't trained high enough. To begin, make sure your CPU Management and Powergrid Management are trained to 5.
      You could also share your fitting with a couple of experienced players and ask them to help you improve it.

    • @JuriusDoctor
      @JuriusDoctor  Před 5 lety +1

      In the fitting window (Alt+F by default), the bottom-left of the ship render/picture there are two stats. One is cargo space, and one is drone bay space. A positive value in drones (0/40, for example) indicates that you can hold drones; since each light drone is 5m3 ea, then 40 = 8 drones. The Dragoon is a drone boat.

    • @JuriusDoctor
      @JuriusDoctor  Před 4 lety +1

      Good question. I do exactly that. I drop the MTUs to collect the loot and go to the next sites. Loot bookmarked and left in space can be scooped by anyone, and auto expires after 2 hours. Loot stored in an MTU lasts in space a lot longer. It's about maximum return. Rat, drop MTU, warp to next anom, repeat until out of MTUs. Depending on how much time you have to dedicate, you can Rinse/Repeat until you're ready to collect or until someone threatens your MTUs. In either case, you make bounties faster doing it this way (not stopping to loot), the loot you collect at the end is the second payout. If you salvage wrecks (in

    Your knowledge, skill and presentation are all top flight, but...
    When you talk about "Making X,000,000-isk per hour, it's not accurate.
    Every EVE you-tuber does the same, you haven't made the isk until it's sold! The only cash in your wallet is from bounties, everything else takes more time to convert to isk, and you (as all you-tubers do) blythely ignore the time this takes, and it can take longer to release the equity than it does to create & collect the loot / salvage.
    Even then, the value at the time of salvaging is only an estimate, you might get that price at market, less tax & fees, you might get more or less. But you need to factor in the time it takes to do this before you can realistically state that you have made X-isk per hour.
    Please do not take offence, I really felt the need to say this.
    I am subscribed, and that for me is rare, I only sub channels I am really confident in.

      Thanks for the feedback, and you're right - there is a certain amount of sunk cost in the time spent gathering the materials for sale, and the value of those salvage sales can be maximized based on sale timing and a keen eye on the market performance of those specific materials. That's advanced concepts, though, and this is an introductory video meant to capture newbro attention and educate them to the possible.

    • @JuriusDoctor
      @JuriusDoctor  Před 4 lety

      Level 2 missions and HS anomalies don't, to any great degree, offer a ton of reward directly. That said, the big reward for missions at the lower levels is Loyalty Points (LP) which can be traded for goods worth a fair amount on the market, or for blueprint copies which can be used to manufacture goods of worth; also for raising standings so you can run higher level missions which do pay out well. HS anomalies are useful for the fun of playing them, and for the escalations to DED-space sites and rare loot drops (blue and purple). Missions pay out better on the long run, but only if you're using your LP and planning for future scalability in your mission running.

    • @JuriusDoctor
      @JuriusDoctor  Před 2 lety +1

      It depends. Usually additional characters on accounts are reserved for utility roles that don't require your main to be logged in at the same time. (Cyno alts, alt haulers, Incursions alts, etc). At least if you're a member of a null bloc or an organized corporation that relies on multiboxing for their meta - which is pretty much most of EVE.
      For multiboxing, I have four accounts. When mining, my primary is in an Orca or Rorqual providing boosts, and the other three are in barges mining. In combat, one is in a dreadnought, one is in a force auxiliary, one is in a carrier, and one is in a battleship.
      Sometimes, when ratting, I'll have my primary and secondary accounts in carriers (dual-boxing carriers), and then have one account in a hauler and one in a salvager.

    • @JuriusDoctor
      @JuriusDoctor  Před 4 lety

      Kazoosc is correct. Vexor Navy Issue, Sigil, and Dragoon. Overall the most expensive ship was the Vexor Navy, which runs between 30 and 60 million ISK for the hull depending on market demand. You can easily reproduce these results with an appropriately fit Arbitrator or Vexor standard issue, if you're looking for a drone boat. For all 3 ships, together, in T1 hulls only, you can expect the cost to fit all three ships being under fifteen million ISK, plus another eleven to fifteen for the Mobile Tractor Units (MTUs). However, doing this method correctly, you can make that back in a few hours in Null Sec.

    mmmm looked like you took a bit longer than 30 minutes to clear the site. If you min/max you could get it just under 30min, and taking into account warp times maybe 2 sites per hour, coming to about 80mil/hour, which can be done with level 4 missions when you take into account loyalty points and storyline missions. If you hit it hard for 8 hours on level 4 missions, you can make 1bil.
    I get nullsec ratting, in deep pockets nobody bothers you and in bigger more expensive ships you can make isk much faster... but it's not necessarily the only endgame

    I can appreciate the artistic effort in the intro, but it's kinda a different topic and (partly consequently) a bit long winded. Also, telling people what they will perceive and feel is likely to miss the mark more often than you think. A much more powerful way of doing it, is telling them what YOU perceived and felt. Perhaps counter to intuition, this will narrow the gap between you and the listener more than the former. I won't get into the psychology here. I hope you can use this dramaturgical insight, even though you didn't ask for it. Peace.
