I'm so blessed to have been a teenager in the 80s.
I'm a teen in now...
Being in your twenties then was pretty awesome, as well.
Me too
That man George micheal was expectional, MJ never dissapiont,
Madonna a queen herself,
And phil colins was so amazing
true words.
All incredibly true words, indeed!
Madonna had huge hits in the 90's as well..but watch the 2000's version of this video. She is everywhere. The woman is amazing. But watching this reminds me how lucky we were in the 80's: Madonna, Whitney, U2, Michael, Prince, George Michael, Janet.. True Icons.
Where can I watch that 2000s version?
@@irina1296 There was a video before. Probably was taken down. I think "Sorry" was #2 in 2006.
yeah you are right. but i was soo surprise not to see “Hung Up” at #1 in 2005😱
Bianca Sanetti I think that if Hung up had been released in early 2005, it would’ve been #1

I turned 14 in 1980. I think I won the prize. The absolute best decade of music. Period.
Still best decade for music - Madonna , Prince , MJ my favourites 😍
They all were active and very popular in the 90's as well
Music careers mj 1969 to 2009 Madonna 1983-present prince 1979-2012
Wow bringing me back to my childhood 😁 Madonna! Michael! George! Whitney! ❤️
❤️❤️❤️
I love love 80s!
These years were full of super singers and bands.
So glad i grew up in this era...We had great clothes and style and awesome music...Posters all over my wall of George Michael wohoo, then getting the daily magazines with the singers on the cover and pull out posters hahahaa...I remember one of my bikes had a radio in the middle of the handle bars, that was soooooo awesome...Everyone hung out with eachother, played at the parks, rode bikes, got dirty and came home all dirty and sweaty but we all had fun...Miss those times ugh...Watched MTV then after school watched DOUBLE DARE hahahaa sooooooooo much fun back then, totally miss the 80s
Steven, I miss the 80's too!!!!
The 80s were by far the most important decade in my life (I'm 58 now) and I just went through a rollercoaster of emotions listening to these songs.
Lucky man ☹️
Music all the best 🎶Michael is only the ONE 👑love you Michael 🌼🌻🌼🎶💓❤️💙
Anybody else watching these videos so they can make their playlist bigger? 😜

Madonna MJ George Michael Pet Shop Boys, Aha an Rick Astley are my most favourites !
Some songs in this video make me nostalgic. They bring back my memories like where and how I was, what I was doing, what happened to my life at those time.
Tina Turner, Madonna, George Michael, Whitney Houston, Phil Collins, Micheal Jackson WAS the 80's!!!
They all made great music in the 90's too
don't forget Duran Duran & Culture Club then we also had Kenny rogers & Dolly Parton to round it all out :) 80's child I am. But this is definitely classic 80's These all made up the 80's!!!
@@teristiles6823 Duran Duran, Inxs, and Hall And Oates
Prince! Love them all, but he is/was my man.

The 80s was a great time to be alive , I'm a grown man but always sob when I think of the 80s. I'm a fan of Madonna since the 80s♥️😍👑
she ruled in the 80s and rules the world.
1980-1981 feels like a transition period in music with some leftovers from the 70s. 1982 is when you can feel the 80s sound kick in.
What a perfect way to end the count down. And song and artist.
The 80's had some BADASS & KICKING ASS MUSIC
初めまして、70年生まれです😂
懐かしく、感動しました😂
ありがとうございます😭
80s , the BEST ! PERIOD !!!!!
Those were the days...I miss the 80s...
Fantastic 80s!
I think of all the years in the decade 1983 was a banner year. One phenomenal hit after another by some major talents. MJ Madonna Prince Tina Duran Duran, Stevie and Hall and Oates chart topping in the same year. Iconic defined.
Amazing Job I was a #Music DJ in the 1980's & the diversity of the the #Bands and #supergroups making hits on the #Radio and @ the #danceclubs was unreal & This is Never to be seen again in most lifetimes Here you have put together My playlist from back then fantastic
Some artists deserved more mentions: Pat Benatar (Life Is a Battlefield, We Belong), Samantha Fox (Touch Me, Nothing's Gonna Stop Me Now), Sandra (Maria Magdalena, In the Heat of the Night), Madonna (Material Girl, Crazy for You), Laura Branigan (Gloria), Bryan Adams (Heaven, Summer of 69, Run to You), Taylor Dayne (Tell It to My Heart, Prove Your Love), Belinda Carlisle (Leave a Light On, Circle In the Sand), Whitney Houston (Greatest Love of All, Saving All My Love for You, How Will I Know), Janet Jackson (Miss You Much, When I Think of You), Paula Abdul (Cold Hearted, Opposites Attract), Cyndi Lauper (True Colors, Time After Time), Cher (If I Could Turn Back Time)
And Donna Summer (On The Radio, The Wanderer and This Time I Know Is For Real).
I'd add Bonnie Tyler (Holding Out for a Hero, A Rockin' Good Way)
we need to remember this was top 20 worldwide. those groups & artists are great in the US however perhaps not worldwide. Newwave & punk & tid bits of america were world wide. just like the 60's 80's did have a very english overtone or down right english invasion to some degree. so yeaaa
Agree. And wonder why Madonna's Holiday or Borderline and Material Girl and Crazy For You did not make it to the Top 20 in its respective year and why Michael Jackson's Billie Jean is not the no. 1 hit for 1982, that was a very popular disco song in that year.
@@haroldg.taladro4008 Billie Jean peaked in 1983.
When listen to these great hits in 80s I had very pleasant feeling I wish go back to these days .
What wonderful days was.
Wish all who enjoy in these days the best in their lives.
Thanks for this 80s gift ☺
My heart hurts every time I see George~
I saw a video of an ‘unplugged’ performance by JM... he was singing (not lip sync) live without any digital processing for pitch correction (the tech that now allows any bozo to sing on a recording)... when he sang ‘Careless Whisper’ practically ‘a cappella’... wow. Chills.
@@locohobo1925 people dogged him for using sound effects on true faith he did that because he liked the sound not because he lost his talent I mean for a man who a tracheotomy his voice was not damaged George sounds as great live as on record that makes him vulnerable to haters

I WAS FALLING IN LOVE OF HIM.
RIP GEORGE😪😪😪
80's had great music! And the 90's!
Michael and Madonna both had 11 songs in this video! They really are the King and Queen of Pop ❤️
And why not giving a credit to George Michael with 10 mentions?
@@irina1296 bc he doesn't have the most. Lol he can be prince of pop ro britneys princess?
@@dougieb4450 I didn't call him the king. MJ is the king but George deserves some credits. By the way, he started in 1984 while MJ was around since the 70's. Yet George managed to have 10 mentions.
American taste (or the lack of it) screwed up a lot of the 80s. Bland sells best in the US..

I love all 80s music
Music at this time was deep, intense, strong and just GREAT!
I remember how many hits Madonna and Micheal Jackson both had but had forgotten just how many Phil Collins had during that decade. Of course, this is worldwide so it's possible just the US charts would have been different.
I doubt that this is worldwide. That's just the title. This is based on Billboard.
I agree. Gotta also include George Michael, too. He had a pretty long run which I would consider WHAM! as him.
@@reinebautistamercado4286 You sure? I don't think the Pet Shop Boys had so many hits in the US.
Phil Collins had do many hits in Holland and I heard his songs also at other countries 😃👌

I was thinking the same thing... this list has more of a UK-perspective feel to it.
My favorite decade in music. I adore Madonna, Whitney Houston, Peter Gabriel, Tina Turner, George Michael, Belinda Carlisle, Laura Branigan...
I only miss Bryan Adams, Sandra, Pat Benatar, Kate Bush here

Madonna is such a QUEEN!!! Still kicking asses
born in mid 80's, grow up through 90's, start to appreciate old music in early 2000's. cant beat the classics from 50's to mid 90's. i still listen to some modern music (and metal. yeah baby :D ), but prefer older one .
I agree. Today's music cant beat the old classics
Best decade the 80s were, very feel good and happy times
I was a teen in the 60;s but the 80's are my favorite decade for music. Wish I could go back there and stay.
Damn. So much good music, even a few I forgot about!
George Michael is a great great star forever !!!
Definitely.
Just the variety of songs and icons alone, the 80’s is hard to beat.
At the end of the day, lets us all just admire these artists instead of comparing them to whos better. Long live and rip to these legends!
Best music decade ever..❤️ look at all that talent.. So many legends are dead too 😔 But this is my teenage soundtrack.. I listen to this kind of music everyday.. and I will do it for the rest of my life..
It’s very accurate! I just knew that 1989 would end with Madonna’s Like A Prayer at #1! God I love all the songs! It’s just incredible! The 80s rocked! Not a bad song in my book! All classics now! Great memories! I haven’t paid any attention to the charts in at least the last 10 years! All the streaming and downloading and changing of the rules constantly! The „artists“ come and go! It’s a joke! And I really don’t care anymore! I feel sorry for the kids now, who didn’t grow up with singers, bands who actually made people buy physical records in the millions!
I agree! Its not really fair for ppl to call artists flops now if they sell like only 2mill hardcopies worldwide when downloading and iTunes exists
Iam listening this music in 2020 and remembering the 80s for ever from Tijuana.
here from Tijuana 🤔
And we thought the world was changing fast then,oh how I miss the 80s.
Awesome. Madonna really did rule the decade! Thanks for this video!

There were so many beautiful songs in the 80s that it may have been forgotten to sort or list but the effort has been made. 👍
Like a Prayer, la mejor forma de cerrar la década
Great era in music. So many gone, RIP
Wow! Talk about a walk through my teen years! Haha
Brilliant 80’s, brilliantly put together
Madonna got two songs of the year, truly the Queen of Pop music!
And number 4 too three of the top 5 That takes some doing 🎧🎧🎧
I like the music before 1985, early 80' the best
the whole decade was awesome
The late 80s(1985 - 1989) were just as great as the early part of the 80s.. I noticed alot of artists and groups from the 50s 60s and 70s were still producing great music in the 80s..thats what made the 1980s the last great decade for decent meaningful clean good REALmusic...before it changed alot when the 90s came around which to me was ok .
70s too !
Love from Romania to everyone listening to this songs
OMG it was so much fun being alive in the 80"s. I was 12 yo when I first heard a Madonna song on the radio and by the end of that year she was everywhere. I haven't seen anything like it since. I liked this countdown. I also am a fan of Laura Branigan. I was surprised that Gloria wasn't included in 1982. It was a smash hit then, bigger than self control.
MJ forever
George Michael (with and without Wham!) and Whitney Houston!!!
Fun Fact : Olivia Newton-John's PHYSICAL was number one on the USA Billboard charts for both 1981 AND 1982.
Wow! Some of my faves back in the day!!!
You should make top 20 worldwide hits of the 1990 - 1999! Can't wait to see Whitney and Madonna slaying again
Yurii Blendonohy 90s SHOULD NEVER EXISTED WORST DECADE FOR EVERYTHING AND CONTINUOUSLY NOW AND FOREVER 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
You mean Whitney and Maria slaying it. Only thing Madonna was slaying were the stage dancers, oh and the lighting techs, and audio techs, and the makeup artists, and the couriers, and the.... well you get the idea.
@@WayPastCrazy2525 Not really. Vogue is the 3rd most popular song by a female singer from the 90's behind Whitney's I Will Always Love You and Celine's My Heart Will Go On. Her Blonde Amtion Tour was claimed the most iconic and influential tour of the 90's. Her Oscar performance is still one of the most memorable. Ray of Light album is higher than any Whitney or Mariah albums in all Best Albums lists. Her music speaks by itself
@@WayPastCrazy2525 haha Mariah was only USA

Living on a prayer at #19? Total eclipse of the heart at #15? The final Countdown at #14? Sweet dreams at #11? 😮
What is ur question?
It's worldwide hits, not just the US.
Madonna, witnessing her rise fame was incredible. I haven't seen anything like it since.
Debbie Gibson and Tiffany was also top in 1987 and 88...I agree the tops were Madonna, MJ and Prince ❤️❤️
Wonderful Chart! You were missing Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" and "True Colors"
This chart is based on the Global Charts Year End Charts for each year. It seems those songs along with Madonna "Crazy For You" and "Material Girl" unfortunally never make it to the Global Year End Top 20 in any year.
Maybe every generation thinks their music is the best, but I think we have them all beat.
Nah 80’s bears everything, there’s a reason 80’s songs are always played at parties with younger adults
Madonna is such an icon
Its become so trendy to put madonna down amd make fun. Its aad.
@@dougieb4450 it really has. It's so sad. For anyone of these ladies to be able to express themselves and still own their sexuality is bc of her. She took all the hits and names called.
