140 Hits in a single year, today is a miracle if we have 2 or 3 good songs...
And many of them remain hits now. My son's playlist contains about half of them. He is 19 y.o
@@user-jv2tx6cn2v Maybe there's some hope for the future ;)
and 130 songs are crap
@@tomatenmark2679 and missed a very good inxs song
That's because now it has to sound like everything else or it doesnt make it.
86 and 87 had the best years for movie soundtracks
Ah, the 80's. The sky was bluer, sun was brighter, food tasted better........I miss it!
What the hell does that even mean? The “food tasted better?” Also, the Sun was pretty much the same before you and I were born. I swear some nostalgists take this way too far that it looks ridiculous
I was born in 2003. But most music I listen to is 80s and 90s. I'm feeling old now even though I'm only 17.
you have good taste then! ; ) I was sixteen back then and it was a wonderful time, with no technology!
I also listen to 80s music as well to, and i was born in 2004 and i'm sixteen
@@Cold187King just 7 years older than you and like you do i also listen to these classics.
You have good taste!

There were so much talent back then. Present time music is a desert
@inglesinamafiorentina And it’s still present today. ❤️
For you it’s a desert, but for others including me, it’s a plethora of cool and creative environments. And also people said the same things about your era, so maybe pipe down a little bit.
80's so far best era!!
Long live to 80's 🖤👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
70s is the best era, second is 90s. 80s is the 3rd. Quite a different ranking if you are into mostly rock n disco
No 80's was better than 70's.

HYSTERIA. ( Def Leppard ) and.THE JOSHUA THREE ( U' 2 ) - The best albums of 1. 987. 👏👏👏
I’m an 81’ baby and I grew up listening to all these songs from my older brother and sister.
IMO 1987 was for the 80s in music what 1969 was for the 60s. As usual total magic here and a 140 thank yous Random Guy!!!
Reliving the 14 Yr old me... And loving it... Ahhh the memories... Xx
And many mores... Cover Girls, Gigglles, Noel, Cutting Crew, etc. Was great year. Good memories
1987 was probably the best year in music history. Almost every number on the list is fabolous.
This is only good memories 🙂
I need help with a song!!!! Please it is not on list!!!
Yeah, Sam Fox was an incredible artist.
I knew and liked 70 out of these songs. I would be surprised if I like more than 3 in a video of the music from 2021.
Back when music was fun, you could dance to it, and singers could actually sing. They didn't rely on Auto-Tune.
Stop listening to pop music
Autotune ≠ not talented
And music today is still fun, and you can still dance to it, and there are plenty of singers today who actually sing. Either you’re not finding the right artists for you, you’re an oldhead, OR you’re probably elitist. It’s not your taste, it doesn’t mean modern music is bad.
I remember listening to all this songs in my walkman, I am 45 now and I still listening on my SiriusXM
God I love my 8❤️'S that's one thing that they don't think from me
I was born in 2006 and I love the 80s. I almost knew every song tho but still getting there. I'm 14 now and still love the 80s. The song Wanted Dead Or Alive is still my bias and never ever gets old.
1987 I'm 17 years , is very happy time ,now lm still listen this music
87 might’ve been best year of 80s
Greetings from Sunny Siberia✌🇷🇺
Thanks so much for the work you put into this. I have many wonderful memories from 1987. Celebrated my first year of marriage and still happily married to the same wonderful man😊
The year I was born! Didn't realise so many awesome songs came out that year!
Same . Awesome year
What great memories listening to these stirs up, reminds me of the love of my life ,sadly we never stayed together , but hearing this lot makes me miss her so much even now
1987-88 was the year of George Michael He was everywhere
I really enjoyed listened to my favourite artistst Prince and George Michael and Rick astley,i enjoyed my early childhood between two years and six years old when my mother raised me
1987 was the year I first entered college.
54 songs I remember were awesome.
15 songs I heard in passing before but didn't know the artist.
40 songs not heard before but are from popular artists.
31 songs I have never heard nor know the artist.

Michael Jackson, Eurythmics, Def Leppard, Sabrina, Dead or Alive, Europe, Sandra, Aerosmith, Whitesnake, INXS, Heart, A-ha, Bon Jovi, Bee Gees, Johnny Hates Jazz and so many more great artists with even greater hits, this was a blessing for my ears and the video felt like a small concert to me. ♥

Love 1987, probably my favourite year for music! I was 14 and it was the year I became a fan of the Pet Shop Boys, so I’ve been a Pethead for 35 years now! Also got into Erasure, they’re my 2nd faves, so glad to hear a few songs from both duos on this compilation! 🎵😍🎹
1987 wow wha a year ....being 17 and carefree !! I always get a lump in my throat and tears when I watch 80’s music , I’d give anything to go back there !!!!!

Came over here from the new list of 150 hits of '87.
Thanks For Erasure Some random guy !
I turned sixteen years old in August 1987, during all of the music being made and released at this time in music history! I bought MOST of the music here on what we had back been then called... "cassettes!"
Yes, we are aware that cassettes and compact discs were very big back then. The only people probably that don’t know that are some young people in my era.
What an amazing video!! I love most of the songs, 1987 was one of the best years in music without a doubt!! Thanks for sharing this masterpiece.
Most of these were played over the PA where I worked as a 15 year old in a Grocery Store, great memories with friends and school. Life was so much better back then.
Back in the days when music was soooooooo good , Awesome Year wish it came back again 👍👍👍
It still is good today, you’re probably very nostalgic about the era you were raised in.
@@arturoromero951 say's the simple minded gen z kid . Lol!
@@miketapazis1179 If that’s meant to be an insult, then that’s SO weak, considering this discussion is over a year old. Do better, buddy. 😂
If your referring to modern day Pop music as compared to 30 years ago, than it's pretty self explanatory.. The mainstream music industry is all corporate run now.. The major labels are only interested in making a quick buck and not in the quality of music.. they recruit young mediocre talent, mostly former disney stars that have a specific trendy marketable ascethic look to appeal to their target audience of young naive adolescent teens.. The vast majority of these young pop stars know very little or have very basic knowledge in regards to musical composition and most don't even know how to play an instrument and relay on auto tune to compensate for their limited vocal ability..their labels then hire the same 5 major production and songwriting teams to manufacture their specific sound.. that's why it all sounds generic and the same..it lacks in authenticity, quality and originality.. it appeals to people of the lowest common denominator, specifically the tik tok generation of simpletons.. There are many young talented musicians out there today who produce quality music. Unfortunately, their music doesn't see the light of day or its buried in music streaming services because the labels have no incentive to promote them.. they prefer quantity over quality. Pop music has always had it's fair share of bad music on the charts over the decades, but modern day Pop music has reached an all time low now and it's getting progressively worse.
@@miketapazis1179 Again, it seems that we have another lazy and ignorant musical rant about someone who thinks that they know about the current state of pop music and the “industry secrets.” Looks like someone has been watching WAY too much of that shitty Thoughty2 video so of course decided that they are going to base their whole opinion onto this huge opinionated one-sided music rant about “wah wah why pop music today is worse wah wah” talk. And of course, it seems like we have another person ignorant about Autotune and musical effects, but it seems that you’re not ready for that conversation yet.
Many musical CZcamsrs, including Tantacrul, Rick Beato, RoomieOfficial, and others have analyzed and discussed about the current state of pop music and have even done multiple compilations where they say many positive things and some things they wish could change. They go over many of the different artists, how TikTok has affected and made many interesting ways for artists to get famous and make pop tunes, and discuss many of the musical effects and elements that are used in certain songs for today. And these are coming from ACTUAL professional musicians in the field. And I recommend you check some videos out or ask people about them rather than sitting here and making the same old tired “pop music today sucks” music rant.
Here, many of the actual statements about “these young stars don’t know music composition,” “they only get hired cuz of looks,” “they only rely on Autotune,” “they hire the same 5 songwriters/production teams,” all “pop music today is very generic and the same” are both: A.) very one-sided and just ignorant claims made by oldheads as a way show that they hate the modern music scene without doing the research (whether mainstream or indie), and B.) mostly very inaccurate when comparing to a great amount of young pop musicians who are both popular mainstream-wise and who have great musical skill. And, at the same time, many of the statements you give about “quantity over quality” or “pop music is progressively worse now” and other BS have all already been arguments that literally applies to ANY music made in ANY music decade. 2010’s? Oh, people will criticize the use of the Millennial whoop and how pop music now is mostly stale electronically produced. Early 2000’s? People will argue that pop is only catering to teenagers and only care has hot looking men/women in this industry-built groups. There are so many examples I could go over but that would take all day.
Your comment isn’t the “shining beacon of knowledge” that you think it is. It’s really just an opinionated rant and a grift just to get the “modern music haters” and “musical elitists” to start pleasuring themselves with this information. Some claims you make could sound very true and factual, however anyone that can read and apply common sense know that many of the claims you make are ignorant, baseless, one-sided, inaccurate, and just plain distasteful to both the musicians and artists of today. Shit, if we all listened to YOUR advice, we probably would all quit music school. We would quit music in general. Besides, music labels only hire aTtRaCtIve pEoPLe so there’s no WAY we’d have a chance. Why the hell would we still do music if tHaT’s the case? See? That is how flawed your logic is. Even if you have musical experience, you’re very close-minded and haven’t opened up to a good amount of possibilities in music of all backgrounds.
I've heard of and enjoy probably 120 of these songs. The 80's overall was probably the best decade for music along with the 70's.
I love the 80s but the 70s win best musical decade by a long shot. The 80s was okay, but the 70s had Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rush, AC/DC, and all the much maligned but totally fun and awesome funk and disco bands. There was no better decade for music in my opinion.
1987 ❤❤❤❤ I started high school in this year. Music was everything.
best 80's bands...Europe, Great White, .......80's HAIR BANDS!!!! And the GREAT George michael!!!!
Wonderful times, wonderful bands, now its 2022, where did all the love go, now we're saturated with too much negativity.
The love is still around, and not all music has to be happy. Otherwise, it would be too boring.

Good job, i remember this time😢😢 many singers died 😢😢
Can't believe, these were once new songs... 😁 I was already in highschool.
There was so much talent and so much great music back in the 80s. Sadly the same cannot be said about today's music.
Maybe for YOU it isn’t. But there is great stuff in our modern era like there was in the 80s. Maybe it’s not your taste. It doesn’t mean modern music isn’t great.

What a fantastic list🌟 such a variety - rock, pop, soft songs, instrumental, duets. Some of these I didn't know, so it was great to hear of other 80s music, in addition to the bigger hits. Now there are just a handful of good songs. Not much variety either. Now, you have to seek out different kinds of music.
I was 5 years old in 1987 and 1 of my favorite songs that wasn’t included in this video was living on a prayer by Bon jovi but my other favorite song that was included is nothing’s gonna stop us now from starship
Who's with me crying to days pass like a wind....
I never understood how someone as talented as Terence Trent D’arby didn’t have a follow up album (if he did I never heard of it). He was way underrated.
He did. The second album was … not bad. Probably not bad for a new artist. It was kind of delusion for such a great debut. Just after he changed his name, and moved to Italy (Milan, I met him often in that city). Sanada Maitreya. He still make music. Still “not bad”.
@@alexarnz1 why change the name? He still has some name recognition. He certainly wouldn’t be the first artist to make a great debut and then the sophomore album was disappointing.
I saw an interview with him recently - he said fame that young wasn’t good for him, he felt it was changing him into a version of himself he didn’t like. He came across as very thoughtful and interesting
