Considering what was on the line, i'd say it was one of the best goals ever scored by an Englishman.

I get goosebumps every time i watch this.
It's moments like these that make true sporting heroes. You can argue the toss about overall technical ability but stepping up to the plate two-and-a-half minutes into injury time and placing the ball where millions of people want you to place it. Legend.
Beckham's shot left his foot at about 36 m/s (80 mph) from about 27m out with
considerable spin and he lifted it half a metre over the defensive wall. The ball rose
over the height of the crossbar during its flight as it moved laterally about 3m due to the high spin employed, before finally suddenly slowing down to about 19m/s (42 mph) and dipping into the corner of the goal.
Beckham definitely needs a knighthood after that goal

A brilliant free kick! I remember it well. I was 16, on crutches with a broken ankle. Had to be careful with my celebrations but that goal still send shivers down my spine. What it meant to be English & proud!

David Beckham was certainlly one of the best players I've ever seen, and this was certainlly the most beautifull free kick goal.
Say what you like about him but i think that has to be one of the best individual performances by a player in a match, he was the only player on the pitch that seemed to want to win. He must have covered every blade of grass in this match, by far the best he has ever played for england.

One of the greatest memories of my life. The way that the camera was shaking when he was celebrating shows that even the camera man was going nuts! Miss him so much in the England team, despite all the off-the-pitch lifestyle the guy was an amazing player and will always be in my greatest ever England 11. To irl wilson...what the commentator said was "Give that man a knighthood"....A knighthood in UK means a person can add the title "Sir" or "Dame" to their name.

i can still remember stilling in front of the telly, all of us starting to get annoyed with England for letting it slip away........ and then the free kick, a moment of hope, but he had missed a few before, then with one genuis of a stroke, that commentary, "I don'tt believe it", that celebration, a goal on his own ground in front of many of this own supporters, the country united.
