    I’m a two finger drop thumb player and since there are no rules to 5 string banjo, I just adapt what you are playing to fit into my style. Great lesson Jim!

    Thank you Mr. Jim Pankey! As of writing this, I’ve been playing banjo for a year and seven months learning from you! Thanks again!

    Thanks for doing these videos, Jim! I feel like these have seriously put some rocket fuel on my 'banjo learning curve'.
    Would LOVE to see a video some day about how to play Forever and a Day by the Krueger Brothers! I've fallen in love with Jens Krueger's playing.

    Jim, I’ve been watching and learning from your videos for awhile now. You have helped me a lot with my playing and it’s improving quite a bit. Sometime or another, when you feel like it, could you teach a Break to Ralph Stanley’s , “ Daybreak In Dixie?” I’ve always loved this tune and I would think a lot of your subscribers would enjoy it too!

    I play Nashville Airplane. It's Earl Scruggs playing the banjo and Lester Flatt singing Everybody Must Get Stoned

    • @JimPankey
      @JimPankey  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Nashville Airplane was the album name, but Nashville Skyline Rag isn't on that one. You'll have to drag out Final Fling for that.

    I have sort of an odd question, perhaps you can help. With spring coming around the skin on my hands has dried out, and now my finger picks are digging into my cuticles. It's becoming a bit more than painful. Any suggestions?

    • @JimPankey
      @JimPankey  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Some lotion for the dry skin should help. However, we all kinda deal with the hangnail situation from the finger picks.

    I never thought Bob Dylan wrote Nashville Skyline Rag. As rudimentary as it is, anyone that’s ever seen him live will tell you that Dylan simply didn’t/doesn’t have the instrumental chops to carry it off. I’ve always supposed it was written that other Bob, “Is it rolling, Bob” Johnston.

    • @JimPankey
      @JimPankey  Před 4 měsíci

      Well, Credit is to Dylan. Johnston produced it for F&S on Final Fling.
      You can find Dylan's version. He plays harmonica and finger style guitar, but it's nothing fancy.

      @@JimPankey I bought the Johnston produced Dylan album when it was new, and Final Fling when it was new. I’ll give Dylan all the credit he deserves, he was the greatest songwriter of my (boomer) generation, he was a genius poet, but at best a mediocre instrumentalist. I stand by my Johnston theory.
