- The Acura Integra Type S & Toyota GR Corolla are new additions to their model lineups. The Integra uses a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 producing 320HP & is FWD with a 6-speed manual. The GR Corolla has a 1.6L turbocharged inline-3 pumping out 300HP & is AWD with a 6-speed manual. Which one is the better hot hatch to buy?

Gotta go with the Acura Type S.
I like the way you think
Acura ITS. That’s why I fired away. Styling inside and out, never been this excited everyday to drive, ever. Feel alive in this thing
Agree. I've read about diff overheating issues on the Gr Corolla.
For daily, the extra room and creature comforts makes the Type S the winner for me.
Honestly though, which ever one without mark up is the one to get. Can't really go wrong with either.
No sunroof. Big nope for me
@@kylewhisman I've owned a sunroof for over 8 years now. I think I used it one time.
When performance is close, I am all about the looks and for me it is Acura alllllll day!!😊😊
ITS! ❤ Your expression and laughter while driving says it all! 👍🏾
You know me well
As an ITS owner, the car is amazing and the power behind it is a ton of fun. Seriously awaiting all the aftermarket parts to come out to push the power higher! Awesome video!
The 2023 "Acura Integra Type S" for me all day.👌🏼
I’ll let Acura know fir you!
@@RaitisRides 😅 👍🏼
Wow! It has been a long time! Since raiti did two cars in one video this is amazing good working y’all be doing 😄💪
I appreciate you taking the time to say that!
I’ll take the Integra Type S!
✌️
Most ppl will 😂. UnUnfortunately, just a dream... They cost $
All day lol. Not even really comparable. Corolla so cheap.
Integra Type S looks cooler and has more space for 4, but the Corolla GR is just more unique and special.
I feel exactly the same.
Didn't realize we're doing Uber in these cars
I like smaller cars and coming from a 2010 Miata. I used to live in an area where I could mostly drive it all year round. I now live in Ohio. I drove the ITS and GR back to back and ultimately went with the GR Circuit.
Being able to drive all year round with more confidence was a big factor. I don’t track my car, I just do spirited driving on the street. I do have an affinity to Toyota over Honda after some previous experience in the past. Our family car is a 2020 Highlander Hybrid that gets better gas mileage.
Driving both, I just felt at home in the GR. It was different then my Miata, but I just had more fun in the GR than the ITS. The GR has a lot of interesting qualities that I think will make it unique to own in the long run.
I totally get your point of view. I'm from Michigan, and I have a slightly different point of view. I've never owned an AWD vehicle and always wanted one as I've owned FWD vehicles my whole life. I currently own a Civic Si that came with those super low profile tires that don't work out well in Winter driving. But after changing not just the tire, but the tire size, my car is amazing in Winter driving with big sidewall snow tires. Especially nowadays where every car comes standard with ABS and ESC. And now the Type S adds in LSD. I'm buying the ITS and will have total confidence in Winter driving once I change out the wheels and tires. But I totally get why others would feel more confident buying the GRC.
My thoughts too. I bought my GRC before the ITS was released but I drove the CTR and felt the same thing about it being too big and the lack of AWD would negatively affect my 4 season enjoyment. The GRC fit the bill perfectly and is so much fun to drive!
@@mikemccormick6128 you obviously don’t have mountains to drive in. On flatter ground you are correct and a FWD with winter tires can be very effective. When you are driving up and down mountain roads you need and want the extra traction for going uphill that AWD offers.
Acura for me please. 😁. Thanks Joe !
You win with either. Cant go wrong. 52k for ITS is insane. To me its a 42k car, Type R a 38k car and GRC a 38 to 40k car. The market is nuts
Yup and another problem is people are willingly paying for these insane prices for their cars. These car entry level, economy boxes that shouldn't cost an arm and a leg to have some fun. If I wanted a fun, spirited Honda/car, I'll just grab a 90s Civic or Integra and build it myself. Edit: I'll just import a MINT CTR/ITR that's also cheaper
Agreed. The markups over the last few years are outrageous
@@bruceleeroy8302it's not a markup it's msrp
But what else on the market competes manual luxury sport sedan with 4 doors nothing really
@@tyhyhh maybe a cadillac ct4 v
That Acura looks kick a💲💲♥️it.
You better believe it!
I still think Joe secretly wants to trade his Civic in for the Integra!
The GR is a lot more raw and fun to drive. It’s a true tuner old school experience. The Honda is a wonderful car; but it’s too refined it losses the fun factor. I ended getting the GRC Circuit myself after considering both.
The Acura Integra is much better in every way. Udrags on Edmonds just compared the Corolla to the Honda civic type R in the tape R destroyed it
I am kinda a new viewer and just wanted to say, I absolutely love the reviews. I have enjoyed so many of the videos and opinions shared. Way to go Sir and I look forward to many more in the future. Thanks man
The Type S is badass!
Nice video keep up the good work Joe
J - two cars at once? WTHECK ?!?! this is like Christmas - thanks Joe
It’s an ON THROTTLE CHRISTMAS
Hmmmm, I like the Integra Type S as far as exterior and interior touches. However I perfer the Toyota infotainment, and I like the color better.
Thanks for listing your favs
I bought a Corrola GR Circuit edition in Heavy Metal tone. With taxes, tags, a mark-up to include lifetime powertrain warranty (excludes clutch) and 4-year free oil changes and tire rotation came to around $54.3k out the door. The Integra Type S silver with the bronze rim option, like my Low Rider S color combo, would cost approximately $64.6k out the door. My Corrola GR arrives this Thursday. One reason I went with the GRC is because Doug DeMuro and other CZcamsrs say the GRC is more fun on the street than the Type S. I currently drive a 2014 Corolla sedan and that car drives better now than new. I also own a 2004 Boxster S. Both of my current cars will be sold to make way for just 1 car, the GRC. I prefer a small car, the GRC is 174" long the Type S 186" long. Is the Type S and sister car R Type better all-around cars? Probably. You have so much room with the liftback and seats folded down. A short guy like me could sleep back there. The Honda product is definitely more versatile. It's a tough call as to which car is the best car to buy. Throw into the mix 2024 Mustang GT and the decision becomes even tougher, still.
You dumb 😂😂😂
Watching in 4k 👌👌 great videos!
Thanks Tommy
Amazing comparison keep going the outstanding job you always do
Both are great cars and if i could afford both I’d drive the integra for work and everything else will be the GR 🔥
My dream...
I don't like the size of the ITS, it just feels too big. I want a smaller car that is more fun on the back mountain roads. I could care less about the bigger back seat and cargo area. This is strictly a fun car for me. The fluff on the ITS is stuff I don't want and prefer not to pay for. The electric power seat just adds weight and they take forever to change position compared to a manual seat. The HUD, really? What a waste when I can easily see the large speed readout. I much prefer my money going toward the better seats, actual handbrake, and AWD. Most reviews I see are driving on a perfectly sunny nice day, so wait until the weather turns cold and see how that ITS does when the snow is falling. The shifter can also be made shorter with an excellent short shifter for only $80 and it's adjustable! SO for me I'll save the $9k difference and use it to mod the car more. And in my area every Acura dealer was adding $10k or more and there are several Toyota dealers selling the GRC for MSRP. So when the difference in price is $20k, there is no decision.
Sweet video Joe.
Worth noting Joe is one of the few CZcamsrs who actually did the street comparison of these two. Now we can't wait for part 2 : Miata vs GR86😂
YES PLEASE JOE
I support that! Please more GR86 content
What is worth reemphasizing is just how good the ITS engine is (can’t comment on the GR). It’s very smooth and punchy, feels like a six. The main zonk is with the seat side bolsters as you mention. Just not quite enough when you’re pushing hard through the twisties. Although pricey, these cars with their reputation for reliability will still be going strong in many years to come when everyone else is driving around in their electrical appliances.
I'll take me Integra and not just because I'm a Honda fan
The Type S looks better
I agree with you!
Sometimes I ask myself what on earth Acura is thinking when it comes to their infotainment systems. This one doesn't even have Nav and it's in black & white in the year 2023....unbelievable
Why not both? If you have the cash, buy all the hot hatches before they're gone!
Integra Type S all yhe way. GRC is a great car but not sure it would daily drive quite as well given some of the trunk space limitations.
Are you an Uber?
The Acura Integra Type S all the way.
After driving both idk my opinion i like the gr corolla more
TYPE S for me all the way. One day hose rates go down a bit, I’m ON IT
I just got a type S. Keeping this car until i die, synthetic oil changes every 3k. Thank you honda ♥️
Great review and comparison. Not a loser among them, I think I would ultimately pull the trigger on the Corolla for the AWD and intangible reasons, despite the objective advantages the Acura has in room, steering and shift feel. Fwiw a quick google search shows short shift kits are available for the Corolla, albeit not cheap and your always taking a chance moving away from stock.
Can’t wait to see these on the used market in 15 years when I can afford one 🙃
After the democrats ban all gas powered vehicles
Honestly both probably will still be pretty expensive. With gas engines going out and the fact that Hondas and Toyota cars retain a lot of its resale value, it will be still valued at a pretty high price. These modern day legends are the last of their kind.
I like the color of that Toyota.
You have good taste Hans
Great review. You should start indicating if these cars have a spare tire. Very important!
I take the Type S over the GR. It's a better looking car, more refined, and a little more practical. The only benefit to the GR is the AWD, which is overrated IMO. I live in northern Canada where I see upwards of 30cm of snow and have owned both AWD and FWD vehicles and have no issues with either as long as you have good winter tires.
Also all the vents are functional on the GR. The vents in the hood are embedded as well
Lovely comparison Joe.
Godbless You. Take care.
Joe back at it again with bangers and the over the top hand movements!!🔥🔥
Joe and Lori and Steve and keep up the good work and I love the video 👍 and I take acura Integra type s all day 💯💯💯👍
Amazing comparison!
That is so very awesome of you to say.
Joey - I like the Acura best, t
We think alike
Well since I am over 60 now I would look foolish in the GR. S type for me.
If forced to decide, I'd go for the Intregra at $38,000, $42,000 with all options.
Very interesting
Agreed.
Integra “SI”? 😉
The ASpec is fun and efficient 😂
Not the type S
Great review.
I’d take the Type S as a Dailey. Looks and feels better. Back road Hoon GR.
Still feel the GTI and Golf R offer a better built car with way more tuning overhead.
You said it, we need to embrace the next few years we actually get fun and engaging cars 🧢
GTI and Golf R will leave you stranded somewhere.
My Golf R (MK7R) was reliable, not no issues (90K KM) until I sold it. That said though, Everyday Driver's comments on the Golf R are bang on. It's a car that can do the fun stuff, but the car tells you it doesn't want to. What does this mean exactly?
* More understeer in the Golf than the Type S
* Haldex activiation can be delayed at times, leading to more understeer
* DSG downshift delays
* Exhaust noise is subdued, noise wise car isn't exciting.
I'd take a Type S over a Golf R as a daily and a track toy.
GTI and Golf R are both trash lol
2015 GTI Apr Stage 2, 100K no issues. Love it still!
The understeer push in the Corolla can be sorted with a camber bolt mod and anti-lift kit
Can't go wrong with either , just depends on your preference. I'll take the type s
Came back and re-watched this video, definitely the Integra for me which is the car I went with! In Canada the ITS is only priced $3500 more than the Type R so it’s really a no brainer unless you really want to track your car or prefer the Type R styling. GR Corolla might be more fun in the snow but FWD is perfectly fine with a good set of winter tires so I’ll take the refinement, better gear box and nicer interior over AWD.
Good comparison.
Fire content. For sure.
I would choose a 6-MT Mazda MX-5/Miata RF or BRZ/GR86 over either of those, if I was interested in a fun-to-drive roadster.
Really like that shifter
I’ve been so busy driving around my Type-S, I didn’t realize Raiti had another video out about the car. Coming from the FK8 and FL5. The Type-S (DE5) is such an all around car you get the added beauty, spaciousness, quality 3D audio, leather/heated seats, and extra safety features for the highway. Yeah there are some features we are missing like a carbon fiber roof which sucks but hopefully they correct it and make a limited edition Type-S or ITR. 🤞🏽 The FWD on the car pulls in all gears and takes corners real nice with the LSD and is less bumpy as you can see in the videos too. I would not buy this car in an AWD platform it will kill the thrill for me for what I enjoy in a Honda or Acura because this car is respectfully made to be driven as a FWD. If you’re looking for AWD go for an Audi RS IMO. The Type-S is the way to go compared to the GR Corolla.
I feel a GR corolla core is better for cost (As long as you dont pay markup). But the Integra Type S is definitely a better daily if you can justify 52k ... You get luxuary with a 6 speed manual and 320 hp.
What luxury? It’s a civic with less features than an Si
@@MikeForsythe Less features than an Si? Damn. I didnt know the Si had a 16 speaker sound system and full LED all around. I dont agree the 9-10K price jump is worth it but its definitely more equipped.
@@MikeForsythe Mr. Lexus marketing is talking shit again. What car does Lexus have that can compete with these vehicles? IS 500 is trash. All it has is a V8, but it drives like crap. It feels floaty and the transmission is garbage. For $66k, I'll pick up the Integra Type S instead of that dinosaur. Still have some change to get some mods like wheels.
@@ronantiojo2805 why are you upset at me? It’s a civic made in Ohio. The IS is a RWD car made Japan. Apples to Oranges. Obviously both sell and neither is bad. Both good.
The fact is the “luxury” Acura is being compared to a ToyotA Corolla. And oddly a 52k Type S lacks NAV, rear air vents, has manual passenger seats, no sunroof etc etc. So not sure why it’s decontented when it’s supposed to be the “luxury”‘ civic.
You wouldn’t pick a V-8 cause acura never sold one. Ever. Enjoy fwd, it’s cool and happy you like it.
@@MikeForsythe Does the Civic have NAV or rear vents? Does the Civic have power passenger seats? What are these "features" that the Civic supposedly has that the ITS doesn't have? I guess a sunroof. Anything else?
As an ITS owner I’ll just say the car has been incredible to drive on a daily basis!! It really puts a smile on my face every time I’m behind the wheel..No disrespect to the Corolla GR community.. In SoCal it’s ITS all day every day..❤
Do longer throws make it easier to change gears without messing up?
Nice ride good quality.
Integra Type S for me
See if you can talk your buddy into putting some 255 Cup 2s or similar on the GR and see if you like it more! I don’t mind the skinny tires even on the track for now. They’ll be better in gravel.
That Corolla looks great!! But I'll stick with my 24 k5 GT . Love a manual transmission though
Keeping my GRC. I love mine so much
Gr Corolla period....I do respect the type s though but family is family
The gloss black needs to be covered with the vinyl from the arm rest which would give it an upscale look with stitching to match! The 1.5 litre car needs the black vinyl Ed out too! Just buy the port section from the A Spec car! The rear doors need to match the front doors on both Acuras major zonk!
Acura anyday
I was aiming for the CTR but got a nice offering for an ITS at MSRP without addons.
We saw the Corolla but it was pretty tight in the rear seats and the trunk was tiny.
The ITS is way nicer.
The corolla too small.
Dude. Good deal. I've been trying for a while for msrp. I'm happy for ya but I'm jelly lol.
@@bigdoggy6650 that’s why I love it! Cars keep getting bigger and I feel have become too big. I’ve owned many Toyotas and Hondas from the 80’s and 90’s and I love the smaller size. Compared to them, even the GRC is much bigger.
Disagree Type S is *way* too big. GRC is just the right size. Smaller/more nimble. I’m a former Type R owner.
@@jameshuegli3534 My thought exactly. When I first saw the CTR and ITS I was surprised at how big they felt. These are fun cars to me, I'm not using it to haul people around. If I needed to haul around others or kids I would use my RAV4 as that does a better job of that than the CTR, ITS or GRC.
10/10 video
I'm really loving that type s
What a great review. I'm gonna have to zonk it for the studder in the first 10 seconds. Great recovery though so let's call it a half a zonk
Can you launch control? And I if I can chirp into second I’ll buy it lol
As a toyota guy. Integra all day
Which one is easier to get
I think both look great and are great.
But something about the GR Corolla just does it for me.
I’ll take both and whichever I can get.
I think that the GR Corolla would hold its value better.
What happened to the other model of Corolla GR? The two seater one? Why don’t they compare that with this?
NICE VIDEO...BRAZIL HERE
Thanks for tuning in
I still love the GTI and Golf R the best. You get a kick ass DCT in those.
If that’s what you prefer
The Golf R handles the two cars in this video easily, walks them both
GR with the manual hand brakes!
Not the zonk triple threat 🤣
Thanks for letting me share the cars & laughs
Dad-blast it Joe, you just raised the markup on both of these cars by $5000!😂
I consider the type S to be a lift back sedan not a true hot hatch . With that said I’d still buy the Type S over the fugly Corolla
I think the Corolla is way better looking, and having AWD is a clear plus
It doesn't compete directly with the Acura but the Honda
The Honda is a bigger car, so a bigger back seat and cargo area
Just depends what you want. I think the Honda is a better daily, but the Corolla is more fun.
Yeah... The ITS is the better overall daily and car for a person with a family imo. The GR is more for a weekend warrior or a single man with no kids imo. Also the GR looks a tad bit juvenile for me at my current age.
Thanks for sharing you vote on this one
Stinks the ITS doesn’t have 5 seats though!
The integra type S provides one of the best driving experience for not only any car under 100k but just overall in general and you guys keep talking about its price. Acura literally just gave us perhaps the last best car money can buy on earth that the common person can afford for the foreseeable future and perhaps moving forward..
I think you are very right about that.
Integra type s looks better, is priced decently similar to msrp in some dealers ive seen so easy choice. Toyota.. lol.. ive seen them going for 70k in dealers. You can get a well taken cared for low mileage hellcat with that money. Some dealers are out of their dam minds.
Integras have been listed as high as 90k.. many over list and it’s already overpriced for a civic.
Type S would be a winner for me if it had 5 seats
Ngl it’s a sad day when an sports car is compared to a Corolla. I was gonna pull the trigger on the type S but it’s so slow 😢
If only you con compare the GR Yaris as well!! That car is more fun than my 718 GT4
I have a TLX Type S.... but man, when I see you drive either of these cars, especially the ITS, makes me want to take one of these. Overall, ITS and it looks better. If I lived in the snow, I would probably go with GR Corolla. Once you drive AWD, it really is hard to go back to anything else.
Comparing Acura with a Toyota ? Should be a Lexus is 350 F sport vs integra type s in my opinión
I love them both ❤ ❤❤
Team GR Toyota all day!!
I will go with GR exterior damn fire integra inside good but Gr another level
Integra type S for me but AWD hmmm love that 😊

More aggressive sporty and impressive design....
Acura is good but Toyota's my car
Something about Corolla says its more sturdy n reliable
