A few tips to help you learn the language:
    - books for children. They have a simpler language than books for adults, so getting used to the language is less of a problem. As you learn you can increase the level of complexity of the literature you read. Just don't skip over Asterix in Swedish: it usually contains a lot of references to other things (both visual and in the text) and some puns as well. I find them worth reading, even if I am over 45 years old, and native in the language.
    - crosswords and other word games. They will teach you vocabulary and spelling. Do as with reading books: start with things for kids and progress upwards.
    - use what little Swedish you know, and fill in with English when you don't know the words. Just the fact that you use Swedish will help you learn more.
    - use your hobbies: try to find a club that does (one of) your hobbies. Join it and get as stuck in as you can, speaking as much Swedish as you can. What you actually do is less relevant, as long as you get to meet other people and speak Swedish doing your hobby. By keeping it to your hobby you will not feel like it is a burden on top of everything else. You could join a sports club, a photography club, stamp collecting club, scout group (which would help you learn about the Swedish nature as well) or any other kind of club/society that require interacting with other people.
    - listen to radio shows. Obviously you should concentrate on the shows with less music and more talk, but a bit of music might help lighten the mood a bit. You can also watch TV-shows. Depending on the show, it could give you an insight into Swedish history and culture as well as the language. The few I know are on SVT: Så ska' det låta (entertainment show based on music) and På Spåret (general knowledge quiz show, with questions varying between difficult and impossible). There are articles on Wikipedia about both of these shows, as well as a lot of clips here on YT.

Love to follow your days in Sweden, especially since i live in Malmö too. If you have the time and possibillity, go North for a few days during winter to escape the grey weather in the south, we dont want you depressed already girl =) Also try finding a simple job or some courses to take, easier to get to know Swedes that way i think.

You said that you need swedish to for example study. You might want to know that at some Swedish universities there are international courses and programs where the courses are in English. It might be something to look into if you want to study. My master's program was 100% in English.

I'm not in Malmö but I hope to visit sometime! I'm in Stockholm but if you do another meetup and it's nice weather (maybe in the spring) I'd love to come and just have a little mini vacation in Malmö. I'm American too so I'm just super interested in meeting other Americans in Sweden :)

Get a library card. There are sort of "newspapers" in easier Swedish. I don't know if that's for you, but some people use them to use their Swedish - alsi, as someone saud, there's books in several levels.. childrens books, youth books... other than that, just use your Swedish and listen to Swedish... that's the fastest way to learn, usually.

    Suggestion:
Besides watching english program with swedish suptitles.
Watch/Listen to swedish moves/show with english subtitles,
u will never learn how to pronunciation just having the words.
also have the tv/radio running in the background when doing something else will get ur brain accustomed to it..and/or try speak swedish with who ever...learning the words and thir meaning is one thing, the hard part is pronunciation.
    One important thing..
DON'T be afraid use swedish however crappy u r at it...u must to learn...and it is probably appreciated... most swedes would take the extra time what ever situation it is...
another thought...i know PRO(Pensionärernas riks organisation) (Organization of pensioners) used to have events to meet and talk to new immigrans or 'meet a swede' events...just to talk the language, maby thir exist more of those i dunno, prob also a greate way to have cultural interchange and integration goes faster...ask ppl at that event u will have...maby some has other greate ideas or know...

While there’s something to be said for SFI what will be the fastest way to learn (at least conversation) is just try to use Swedish. But as has been established since Swedes are fairly good at English and are too happy to speak English it’s very hard to make us speak Swedish.

När jag var i Tyskland i våras blev jag först tilltalad på engelska, men de flesta gick över till tyska, när de märkte hur bra jag var på det. Dock har jag en känsla att det inte kommer att hända i första taget med Kimberleys svenska🤡

This was news to me. When I was a SFI teacher I had an Iranian student, he said: Jag behöver förbättra min grammatik. And I had students who couldn’t speak a word in Swedish. How was I supposed to teach?

Lots of people here tell you to read swedish, I would say it's better to listen to swedish, that way you learn the right prounciation, how it's spelled is not how it's said. Swedes learn english mostly by watching english movies and tv shows with subtitles.

I totally get that of course your focus is on Sverige, but as you're learning svenska you might also think learning something with a wider context or usage as Skandinaviska.
I include the following in swedish as a small language exercise for you:
