Funny that in 1990 Kasparov said Vishy won't last long. It has been 20 years since Kasparov retired and Vishy is still top 10.
Rip kasparov
He says this about everyone.
He once said to Radjabov directly - "I don't like ur game style" - in a game where he lost to Radjabov 😂😂😂
that's called mind game bro, he would not have said this to someone who did not threaten him. It's a big complement.
Eh he is Kasparov he can have his opinion. And I don't think he meant it in a bad way.
Bro he is still alive@@pierrotzzz

Vishy is like one of those badass old people from shonen anime. Technically past his prime but still clapping young upstarts like it´s nothing
ahaha
lmao love that example
The classic where the protagonist thinks he knows it all, challenges his sensei to a duel and realizes there are levels to this thing. Then the master takes the weights off and gets serious
not me reading 'baddies' rather than 'badass'.
@@akmuchbetter9782 he is too
Slay queen slay
Vishy is my favorite modern champion. He can play all the games - closed, quiet positions; open, attacking games; grinding endgames... A truly complete player. And he's pure class in every situation.
If you don't like Vishy Anand you don't like chess!
As shown in these games he makes a lot of odd-looking moves where noone has a clue of what he's doing but he ends up in a winning or drawing position. It's different to the "knocking on the door" style of most players where they keep trying to poke at weaknesses hoping something will come up, some tactical thing or combination while Vishy wins by magic.
Actually nearly all IGMs can play all the games, but yeah, Vishy is something.
@@raylopez99 you must be fun at parties
Importantly he plays a variety of styles *extremely well*. Yes any GM can play open vs closed positions, long grinds, etc.
He has a big variety in his games that you don’t see in many players
@@raylopez99 ummm achkhsually...🤓💩
We just not going to mention the time remaining on the clock in that first game? 72 minutes for Vishy versus 4 for Hikaru. Incredible.
Bro was chilling.

Vishy is such a badass, he’s done so much for chess producing and army of gm’s from India growing chess and expanding minds. Yet he still beats everyone, he’s like the most wise old master in any show that still can’t be beaten. Thank you for covering these games 😻

Studying endgames is probably the most important skill you'll need to learn if you want to be really good at chess
Opening lines are more important imo, as it sets the whole tune for the game..
A good opening line helps set you up for a favorable endgame
You need to get a good position out of the opening and not blunder in the middle game in order to get to an endgame that isn't lost in theory
@@rnbPGTVlimited endgame study is needed for casual play. If you want to be a good club player or better, then serious endgame study is absolutely essential.
@@rnbPGTVand over 3 decades, I've spent a tons of time on different variations of that 3 on 3 with an outside passed pawn rook endgame. A solid understanding of rook and pawn endgames is what you need to guide you in the middle to endgame transition.
I'm 50, and I'll tell you that being 50 is exhausting. I'm tired all the time, I can't focus for as long as I'd like and oh shit there is no way I could play classical chess nearly as good as I could in my 20s.
You would be surprised! I know plenty of guys still kicking ass at the club level. Sure they aren't as good as they were but still incredible players.
@@fauge7 The key is to figure out how to play chess in the laziest way possible, really. If you can do that you're going to last a lot longer than someone whose style is reliant on calculating very long variations accurately and less on strategy.
What's your Elo? Just curious .
True, Longevity is very important and that's what makes Vishy one of the goat. People dont agree with me but longevity is not easy.
@@doctorpanigrahi9975 I never had a FIDE rating and the old-style three digit BCF ratings are a pain to convert, but I think my peak would have been somewhere around 1500/1600 FIDE. I haven't studied properly for 20+ years and I prefer to watch than to play these days.
bro, vishy had 1hr and 12min at the end of the game and Hikaru had 4min 💀💀
Its the bonus time after 40 or so moves
Hikaru admittedly spent around an hour to calculate the endgame sequence.

The way Levy is truly admiring Vishy is so wholesome. ❤

The old title: FIVE TIME WORLD CHESS CHAMPION!!
The new title: HE INVENTED CHESS!!
If I told you that in 1987 when Anand won the Indian National Championship in Tumkur, where I was one of the organizers, we literally had this 17yr kid sitting in one of the hotel rooms (Woodlands) and then later remembering every friendly game that was going on and offering suggestions and comments on the same, you would not believe me. Ask Vishy himself. He would attest.
Levy never fails to get kidnapped
This guy is a strict vegetarian and doesn't smoke or drink.
Vishy is non vegetarian, listen to his interviews.
Anyways that doesn’t have anything to do with anything
And yet he still doesn't have the Bharat Ratna award. Utterly disgraceful.
I'm so sorry to Vishy sir on behalf of all Indians.
Vishi's been banging left and right since the 80's. That's why hes on top still. He even gave the royal gambit to my mother from what Ive been told.
Vishy is a chess player has 54 years old but he sitll so good.
Levy never fails to invent chess while being kidnapped
The man was top when there was no computer . The man is sitting with the top bunch even today! That is something incredible.
0:00 ahh the usual death stare into my soul
That's because your gay. And that's comment is played out what 3 years ago?
You only said it in hopes to get likes
He's filming himself so of course he's looking into a camera. But for a man thinking about another man staring at them is pretty damn gay
I'm so damn proud and happy for Vishy Anand that he's still competing and playing absolutely insane games & cool video Levy ✌️
He won his world junior in 1987! Nearly 40 years later, he is still going!!
Levy never fails to be acoustic
Classical Chess is the most respected and so so difficult because it needs such stamina.
Dude did you see the clock at the end of the first game
wow, levy still retains his ego even after being kidnapped
12:18 trying not to mention magni
It’s time for the usual top 3 goat conversation to become a top 4 conversation. Viahy’s unnatural longevity and longtime influence and shaping of the game has earned him that imo
More surprised that Levy completed video without mentioning Magnus than about Vishy winning games at this age😂
Held captive and no magnus... what kind of Levy is this
You posted a part of it in the shorts... That was quite good 🙂
Levy is the #1 hype man that a chess player needs! 😄
I was one of those people. It was great meeting you Levy!
You play professional basketball/soccer? Pretty impressive.
0:23 bro I'm 18 and my back hurts a lot 😂(does that mean I'm old??)
Vishy, the phenomenal legend! To say that Magnus is the GOAT, he has to prove himself with similar or better performance than Vishy at 54 of his age.
The chess originally started from India
India has immense talented players of chess..Pragg is also gonna be a Legend
Levy idk if you’ll see this but, thank you for the Scandinavian Defence course, I’ve just used the free part but that has helped me a lot, I’ve climbed from 800 to 880 in blitz and 1100 to 1190 just playing the the scandi and the London, people at this level don’t really know what to do against the Scandi so it gives me quite a good position after the opening.
Cannot get the whole course😢 but the free sample is good enough for my level to progress, again Thanks!!
Every play that is made is connected to the endgame: "Capablanca"
Korchnoi was also insane in his old age. Potentially the best player to never get the championship.
Both fascinating and deep games. I find your surveys of master games (historical or otherwise) most instructive. The second game in this video was particularly inspiring. More of those please!
BTW, I don't think 54 is old by any stretch. I am 69 and a reasonably strong club player: I also play a weekly match with an 83 year old, very strong club player, and we have reasonably respectable games... It would be great to have more games by 'old' players reviewed on your channel, especially by Smyslov and Korchnoi, neither of whom ever seemed to 'retire'!
I'm 23 and can relate to the ol back pain, etc.
Makes you wonder how we survive till 70/80 or so
"The Man Who Invented Chess"
levy never fails to record the kidnappers
I thought Levy was talking about himself when he captioned "5 times world champion"
I learned how to get good at chess from this man! Great videos-great tips :D
Levi to his kidnappers: someone call an ambulance, but not for me!!!
Hey Gotham, really like the Layout out on this video with the players names on the left and the chess board more centered. Please use it more
The video didnt load yet but if there will be Magnus i will send Levy his own book
Time to send him his book
the kidnappers so nice to not keep him in the basement
In the first game it just shows his skill even more with hikaru only having 4:18 on the clock and vishy having a hour and 12 minutes on the clock

Gotham never fails to title the video to 9999 Elo to 5 time world champ to he invented chess
Look at the time in the first game!!!Very impressive to pull for an old player to pull it off against a blitz God like hikaru💪
Still he is enjoying to play chess..❤
When you realise sir Vishy Anand didn't even take half of his time in the first game whereas Hikaru has only 5mins left on his clock💀
Ah yes, finally a video about John Chess.
The first title was something like"5 or five world chess championship"
Levy never fails to be an old grandpa that's constantly being kidnapped
vishy is like rayleigh of one piece.
can't really remember another video that Gotham devoted to Vishy Anand like from the Chess History playlist. been hoping he does one eventually

Great video Levy I appreciate the smart explanation recap rather than exaggerated gestures and dumbing yourself down to reach the audience. This felt like a video you made two years ago which I think were so much better. I wasn't a sub then but I've watched them. I'm just saying you've made a lil money screw the doing what the stats say works all the time. Thanks

About time you made a video about John Chess
When I saw the thumbnail, I immediately knew the champion was the guy on the left.
Anyone else notice how much time Vishy had on the clock at the end of his game against Hikaru?
Hey Levy! Could you please make a video about Kasparov? Maybe like a historical video or something, or his Chess960 games?
