    When you use a bended Tungsten electrode, it would be good to either flood the area with shielding gas (somebody below already mentioned that). Why not modifying the gas lense by bending it too, so that it "follows" the Tungsten electrode and guides the gas stream ? :) Great content, thanks. Stefan

Otherwise the $5500 or whatever would be harder to justify than just gettin more fab tools(knotchers, benders, saws, cnc plasma/laser) idk. The type of work ide like(thick aluminum) , is not the type of work steady available around here. :/ anyway badass setup

    Hey what the name of that Hobart app bud? Me and Jeff Noland been talking, he offered a Invertig 400 demo like $500 off, but I had my sights set on the 313 cuz I've only got 1 phase power. 50 more amps for $500 more. I was thinking helium would take the 313 as far as I would need it to go(on 1/2"-1" plate) and those repairs/builds havent been common. How often would u say u actually floor the pedal at 350amps? lol seems like that would be tough on even my sw320 torch. Anyway, been contemplating this rather large investment this week. Didnt know if u had any feedback, thanks Max!

    • @5thStreetFab
      @5thStreetFab  Před 3 lety +1

      I always wish i had more amps at work! If youre planning on welding anything over 3/8 often, id get the 400. The way i look at it is 500 more bucks will only buy me 1 and a half bottles of uhp helium. Just my personal opinion

    Ok about the ratings about streght, temperature and so on, but man, it's just an intake manifold, very low pressure: 4043 is all that you need.
    I used to weld aluminum radiators and oil coolers, many were tested up to 60 bars (roughly 870 psi) and the only kind of filler avaible in the whole factory were 3.2 mm (1/8) 4043 aluminum rods.
    So it's nice that you think about what you need to use and so on, but I think this is not 1 of the cases in wich this is required, just an opinion from a collegue from oversea.

    • @5thStreetFab
      @5thStreetFab  Před 3 lety +1

      Great point! I was basically just saying using 5000 series vs 4000 series. I use 4943 because i get it at a discount at work and like the way it welds more than 4043. Otherwise i would have used 4043

      @@5thStreetFab i didn't understand u'd go for another alsi rod👍🏻
      I just wanted to say that almg is more expensive, also as you said it may suffer from crack issues (after all it's harder).
      4000 series is what fits better in theese kind of job IMO, I said 4043 cause generally is cheaper and everybody is used to it, but if you prefer another 4000 series rod, wich is also cheaper for you, then u're 100% right going for it👍🏻
