The propeller really paid off I got my paddle on July 1st it’s a pleasure supporting a Christian ran company with a sense of humor.
Ha ha ha I think I remember the message we sent
Great video! Doing awesome reviews man.
I really love that the J2K is getting recognized for being a great paddle. I bought one a while back, and I also won another one, which hasn’t arrived yet because I believe the paddle is out of stock lol! Thanks for covering this!
Couldn't agree more - thanks for watching!!
I enjoyed your review of the J2K. Thank you.
The J3K is a beast. The comeback of the standard shape has arrived.
Agreed, impeccable review. Ordering, emailed them 2 days ago with no response so..waiting patiently at the kitchen...?!
Finally someone who talks about the balance of the paddle (which to me, is THE most important aspect!).
Thanks 👍🏻
There is so much to talk about with all these paddles but I agree the influence of the balance point is becoming more and more important!
Great review. May buy this paddle now.
If you’re searching this is a great one to have in the bag
Love your video Rafa. I want to hear your opinion on the Hudef Viva Pro Gen 3.
My J2K hit great right out of the bag and after a couple weeks really getting it dialed in. Not the prettiest paddle lol (even w the blue) but it does everything I want it to. I love it.
It’s very easy to adjust to for sure
I decided to order the J2K pro during initial pre-order when the J2K pre-order was sold out. I've been play with the J2K Pro and I'm liking it so far.
Glad you’re enjoying it!
Good review! I can’t wait to hear about the Fat Boy.
I’m really coming around on these wide bodies 👀
Tried the Ruby at PickleMall and loved it. Bougjt the J@K on your recommendation and love the paddle and its pricepoint.
Awesome Vid thanks!!
Thank you so much for watching!!
Hey Rafa just wanted to know your opinion on, the J3K coming out this month do you think I should wait for the J3K or just go for the J2K ?
I like the information in your videos, but please move the camera back a bit. It feels like you're right in our face. Too close!
Switched from the 6.0 dbd to the j2k last week and the j2k is feels like it was made for me feels light with great power/control
I am using the PRO and the DBD is much worse in comparison. I actually tried to use my DBD not too long ago and all my shots were muted and could hardly get any spin. I also find Honolulu to have way better customer service than 6.0.
Perks of buying from small businesses! Sounds like you guys made great choices
I requested and got a swing rate under 113 actually was 112.27 With a paddle weight of 8.17
You can also add some weight on the paddle close to the handle to lower the balance point with out affecting the swing weight.
Great point about weighting toward the bottom! Whether or not it affects the SW definitely depends on where of course but it’s doable.
I’ve heard a couple other reviewers got some lower SW ones as well… their range is 113-115 so I just happened to get a heavier one!
Thank you for the honest evaluation of the paddle. Do you know the warranty on it?
Yes I believe it’s a 6 month warranty!
After communicating with them through emails, I put an order in for a j2k that was around a 113 swingweight. They sent me a 8.10 oz blue one, but one side is much grittier than the other so ill be returning it. A little disappointing since it does seem like a decent paddle.
Thanks for the review....I like the look of the blue kevlar over the red. Is it safe to assume that they'll play the same or could there be a difference between the two?
Me too the blue looks super nice - there should be absolutely no performance difference between the two! Only between the red/blue and the black (black is the Pro version of the paddle and has a tighter weave) - hope that helps!
Excellent review! The J2K is by far one of the best paddles of 2024 and completely outdoes the overhyped and over-priced 6.0 Ruby giving you just as much, with a much better price. For those that want a bit more power, go to the J7K which is also spectacular. I fully agree with you in your interpretation of what people need ... in a world that has become fixated on "power", the reality is that pickleball is more about control in several facets of the game - this is what most players need.
Thanks for the thoughts! Ruby was my Kevlar of choice for a loooong time but yeah what this paddle provides at nearly half the price definitely moved it up the ranks for me
I am using the Thrive Azul right now and it’s really hard to control due to its harsh feel. Could you compare the Azul to the J2K? Similar power/pop?
I ordered the J2K was suppose to ship on the 19th shipped on the 28th their projecting it gets to me on July 17th must be coming on a paddle boat.
Thank you for your support, we are just experiencing high volume. We also updated our shipping options so that we use a propeller canoe instead of a paddle canoe:-)
Sorry, I didn't understand the joke about the opening paddle (black with the cut out) at all. Would you mind explaining that to those of us who are newer to the search for the perfect paddle?
love my j2k blue
It’s pretty 🤩
Thoughts about adding lead tape to the j2k? It seems to have a little less pop than my Ruby, so thinking some lead tape at 4 & 8 may help with that.
I almost think 3 & 9 might be more useful for increasing pop but 4 & 8 could also work… mess around and see what’s best
I was able to hit with the J2K Pro just a few days ago and i complete agree with your review. The sweetspot is amazing, and it has a soft feel with great control. The handle was just long enough for me to comfortably use my two hander. Have you tried the J7K? I'm curious on your takes on that.
Not enough! Will have more thoughts on the J3K and J7Ks soon
What’s the difference with the pro???
Honestly it's very similar to the j2k, but the surface has a tighter weave, which is supposed to give it a little more power and pop, but it'd hard to notice.
@@rikerFFXI Completely agree with the last response. There is some increase in power and spin to a degree but I would really only recommend the Pro version if you just reeeeally want that black look or want the words "Pro" on there. So basically aesthetic reasons. Up to you if it's worth the $10 extra it's still in a great price range!
How does it compare to the Bread & Butter Showgun?
Between J2K pro and J3K pro widebody??? What do you recommend to me? I love more power oriented paddles
Between those 2 for power you’re probably going for the J2K! In general if you’re looking for a power paddle tho I’m not sure these are the route to go down. I would go for the regular J2 raw carbon fiber which I’ve heard has more power and my discount code “RAFA” still applies on the site. Hope that helps!
Great Review, worth getting the J2K if I have a Ruby?
To me mostly worth if you want better sweet spot consistency and are actively looking. If you like your Ruby I wouldn’t go out of my way to switch but maybe when it’s run it’s course I would revisit the J2K as a more cost effective alternative!
I had a gen 3 Hyperion which I sadly returned, and I want to get the closest thing to it. How does this compare to it? Any other paddles you would recommend
Ooo yeah I wouldn’t compare this to the Gen 3s in terms of power it’s much more of a near perfect all-court. I would check out the newer Engage paddles and Paddletek paddles for power that approaches those!
3:18 love handles!!
😂😂😂
Any standard paddles to recommend? Looking for an Anna Bright Gen 3 replacement…..
Ooo okay as a Gen 3 replacement right now I might go with the Paddletek ALW 14.3mm and the longest handle option. You can grab one with my discount here: www.paddletek.com/JbDH2s. I think Braydon had similar thoughts…
If you’re looking for my favorite alternative but will not reach the same power levels it’s the Holbrook Power Pro either the 14MM or 16MM. Would avoid the 12. Hope that helps!
@@pickleballtechdude Heard Andrea Koop has a Paddletek that is an ALW with a longer handle a QLS? Haven’t seen it yet and ask Paddletek and no answer.
YES okay you reminded me Paddletek is releasing a Bantam ESQ or smth like that which is supposed to be a good alternative - not entirely sure when it drops tho but rumors are of later this month
@@pickleballtechdude I’ll be watching for it!
Can you review a wooden paddle please
Thank you for your review. Caught between the J2K and the Apollo Sparta's, the fact that I hold my paddle low on the handle helps make my next paddle choice easier.
It’s a tough choice - comes down to if you want some more maneuverability and swing speed (Apollo) or more power and balance (J2K)
My code “RAFA” works for both whichever you choose!
j2k vs j7k? why pick one over the other?
Great question:
J7K has more power, a more narrow sweet spot, and an elongated shape with a 6” handle for even more to hit two-handed backhands. I suggest it over the 2K if you think those characteristics fit your game more!
W haircut. Can I have a paddle?
Great review! How do you feel this paddle compares head to head with the Six Zero DBD? I've purchased just about every recommended new paddle, but I keep going back to the original Joola Hyperion because of it's balance of feel and power. Which is weird, I know. But, always game to try something new. I've owned 2 Six Zero DBDs and gave them away eventually, but it's probably my second pick. So, curious how this compares. Thanks!
In my opinion you’re probably going with the DBD if you want better hand speed/balance, more power, and to be a part of that massive community 6.0 has.
This paddle will give you more comfortable hand space, a much better sweet spot, and I give a slight edge on soft touch. Honolulu is a smaller company right now but they’re gaining LOTS of traction with these.
Hope this helps!!
@@pickleballtechdude That's super helpful! Yes, I loved the DBD, but I did prefer the control of the Hyperion. This sounds like something in the middle. I'm going to go buy one right now with your code and check it out. If nothing else, always great to support the smaller guys trying to do something good in the marketplace. Thanks!
@@brianporter2806 any updates on this? I’m the same as you, I keep going back to the Hyperion because of the feel. Haven’t found a paddle that is as good as the Hyperion for me.
@@anthonyphomphakdy6208 I ended up buying the J7 by mistake, but it was pretty good. I liked it for about 2 days. But, then the same issue where I just can't get the ball to pocket like I can with the Hyperion. I think I play better for the first day or two with all these thermoformed paddles probably because my focus is more intent and it's fresh grit. But, then they break in and it's back to the same issues of popping the ball up and not having the level of control I get from the hyperion. I'm sure if my techique was more sound, it may not be an issue, but for now, I can't get away from the feel of the hyperion. I have a friend that plays 50+ pro and he's the same way. Tried all of them, but back to the hyperion. I think even Chris Olsen is starting to cycle back to the control paddles.
Why no love for the J5?
Shape was just not for me 😂 there’s certainly a target audience tho
paddle is out of stock right now which means reviews are causing lots of sales....I am a Ruby guy and don't think it's a step above to get it
I believe pre-orders for the June batch are available for now which should be a decently quick turnaround! Sweet spot for me is a bit more consistent than the Ruby but before I tried the J2K the Ruby was my favorite Kevlar paddle so you really can’t go wrong with either👌🏼
What is difference between J2K and J3K?
The J3K is gonna be standard in shape and have a slightly higher SW/TW with more handle space. If you are a bit more defensive in your play and really value even more consistency in resets and you need space for a two handed backhand I would go for the J3K over the J2K
Don’t need two hand backhand
Comparing this to my current Ronbus Pulsar R2
Sorry R1 Pulsar
Does not impact your content, but the lighting is harsh, especially on you face. Perhaps move that light to 45 degree right or left relative to your face and further away for a sense of depth and less contrast. Just a suggestion.
It’s a vibe at least lol
No I appreciate the input! I record everything on my phone so I’m trying to balance how crap it is in low light conditions vs having too much light and haven’t quite found that sweet spot yet. Might just need some more editing work haha
@@pickleballtechdudeWelcome. Rooting for you to succeed even more. Not a big deal but this is set up and not editing that needs to be figured out. Edits does not repair setup issues. But again, does not impact your content but may impact how pleasant it is to consume the content. Thanks again for all the info you put out.
Have you ever met someone who went to Harvard that didn’t let you know in the first few minutes you meet then? 😂
😂😂😂 some people only know I went to “a small liberal arts school outside Boston”
Michigan and Notre Dame guy says, Hold my beer.
This must be a paddle directed towards religious people. I’ll pass.
I would say it’s not directed at religious people (branding is very small) but rather some of the branding is religion inspired - totally up to you how much importance you place on that. Thanks for the thoughts!
So all other paddles without a verse must be directed to no religion
@@brentkasl6510
That would be correct!
Buyer beware! Besides being a high performance paddle, the J2K is advertising Christianity with its paddle design: a Christian bible verse, a Sword and shield, Christian “armor of God” symbol, J2K ( Jesus second coming)… look at these three religious elements printed on the J2K paddle before buying. The entire design advertises Christianity.
Is the J7K supposed to be advertising Jesus' seventh coming?
Good for them!
You again?? helping sales if anything 🤣
Give It Up Pickleball is getting 🤡🤡🤡🤡 ridiculous
No.
