dood, i watched this when i was 12, with a old bass my dad found in storage, now im 16 and in a band with my fender squier jaguar bass playing claypool. what im trying to say is thanks dude, u helped me get started.
Only because of this video I borrowed a bass guitar (electroacoustic one) and finally I can play this amazing song. It even wasn't as hard as I thought it will be (but I am a guitarist so it's maybe because I can already play). Thanks man!
Thanks bro...never would have thought of that. Bought this rig off a friend, I bet the strings need to get changed (00-01 Warwick, probably still has the strings purchased back then).
very nice man it was very helpful, i found it easier on the intro to just change positions to tenth fret on the A string an d pinky in the same spot, instead of the fat reach to the fifth fret on the D
ehehe you nailed it, although you say it's only got by videos and feeling. that's pretty amazing! thanks a lot for the video, it's really helpful and inspiring :D
Good shit man, I play the beginning bit a little differently, i keep my index and pinky in the same place and do the hammer ons with my middle finger. Just the way I learned to play it I guess.
that tap part is cool...i can play the start never knew it was primus. but i can not make the long strets on bass more,so i play it on guitar, but i have a cool half acustik fender bass,so just need too practice😃
Well, AFTER this video I started messing with new and lighter string gauge combinations. I always have one set of strings soaking in "denatured alcohol"(cleans strings) and the other on the guitar, so when one dies out or starts to lose it's brightness, I switch it out and let the other soak so I never have to play with dull strings! And in this video I am running through my BP80 pedal on a setting which has a bit of overdrive on it, creating that kindof crunchy sound. Whew!, advice...
Great tutorial, I absolutely love this song!!! Question-your sound seams to have a real cool twang to it, is this due to your guitar, strings, both? I am learning with a older Warwick 5-string and can't seem to match. Any thoughts?
I think for the E string slaps I'm seeing him hit Ab-A#-A-A# instead of Ab-A#-Ab-A#. Everything else seems right, except for him occasionally hitting the Db-Gb-Db up an octave live. I could totally be wrong my ears still behind my fingers but I'm seeing that index finger flop around a lil more and when he sings di-di-digawhateveretc (2;58 or so) the di-di is on those notes and he goes up for the second one so I feel like it's Ab-A#-A-A#
I left the same comment, I said G# but it’s the same asAb it’s just an enharmonic so he doesn’t get confused thinking we are saying different things when we are actually saying the same notes but differently
does anyone know if i can find this song without drums, (just bass, guitar, and vocals) ; Or atleast kindly explain how to mute the drums with a program or something ?

You don't have it quite right. It's not two "Gb-Ab" hammer-ons in a row, it's a "Gb-Ab" followed by a "G-A" -- in other words, it climbs up a half-step for the second hammer-on.

I have that bass too
Yeah me too lmao. Got a cherry red. It's a pretty good, cheaper bass
Now your 19 how you doin?
Nice
Hey you're 20 now
I know that Les has 29 frets on the main CT bass he uses, that's the big factor that allows him to play this song so easily, even with his large hands
Dude! This is so great. Love it. I feel motivated to give this song a shot on my Fender.❤️
Nicely done. I appreciate you taking the time to make this and post it.
Sir, this is a great video and I thank you. Very helpful, and if not dead on damn close.
And it's nice to see other people using notes.
Only because of this video I borrowed a bass guitar (electroacoustic one) and finally I can play this amazing song. It even wasn't as hard as I thought it will be (but I am a guitarist so it's maybe because I can already play). Thanks man!
Anyone else having trouble not bleeding all over the strings trying to get that strum down? Lol thank you so much for the video it helps a lot
Thar happened in the binging for me
I believe you are correct sir! thanks for the advice!
Thanks bro...never would have thought of that. Bought this rig off a friend, I bet the strings need to get changed (00-01 Warwick, probably still has the strings purchased back then).
Wow that was good... Gonna learn that song
Instead of more cowbell we need more whamola

Yeah, this is great, but I wish you would play all the parts full speed at the end, cuz it sounds totally different slow. Thanks, awesome video!
Your tone with those chords. I wanna drink your tone.
Good shit man, I play the beginning bit a little differently, i keep my index and pinky in the same place and do the hammer ons with my middle finger. Just the way I learned to play it I guess.
This was extremely fuckin helpful man, thank you for doing this
Incredible! Also nice bass

@mrcolin I'm glad this helped you out :)

I was gonna cover this song until my camera broke but your tutorial helped me out defenently on the tapping part. So expect a vid responce =D.
yes, it is a set neck, therefore looks exceptionally sexy for an Ibanez. Thanks !!
Great job man, thanks a bunch for this! 5*
And is your bass set neck?
Very good tutorial. Can you do "jerry was a race car driver"or "Fish on"
great!^^
awesome!
Cool...I have to agree with cloak tho...I play it 4-6, 4-7 as well.
BTW Geothro, it looks like we have the same bass! (SDGR-SRX500?)
does anyone know if i can find this song without drums, (just bass, guitar, and vocals) ;
Or atleast kindly explain how to mute the drums with a program or something ?
Very nice, man! Sure cleared some doubts I had! Now I can finally post this one! Shall do shortly! MWAHAH!

Your welcome!!!
1000th like
thanks!
That's a fucking amazing name
I would love to do Jerry, but I don't own a six string. otherwise I would be learnin' me some Del Davis!!!
Ha Ha! I love me some Pook!
…vodka
I'm thirteen years old and I'm trying to learn this but I always mess up on the 5 fret stretch any tips?
Try harder
EmersonTheDude if you're still struggling, the same note can be played on the 10th fret of the A string
Do 10th fret of the A string and 9th of the G string
Grow
Get bigger hands
Your welcome man^^ this response is very surprising. too bad I edited out my "douchebag comment speech", I can't wait for those
Geothro Tull = Jethro Tull :3
Geoff = Jeff
That was my first thought

It’s actually “Ab-A” followed by “Ab-Bb”, or “4th fret-5th fret” followed by “4th fret-6th fret”.
@@sketchesforyou8020 Actually, no, it's not. You are incorrect. Please watch czcams.com/video/231PT-5nKhY/video.html.
@@keithkelly5692 You’re right, sorry, I play it differently because it’s easier.
@theflyingace12 Nice! Glad this video may or may not help you sodomize this tune!
anyone looking for a proper tutorial should look elsewhere.
