Tips And Comments:
- Playing Technique: Played next to the bridge (and a little closer to the neck for most parts except the main riff) with middle through high dynamics. Just neck knob at full
- Gear Sound: Added high-mids and treble. Some extra gain on the amp. Clear strings may help, i didn't have any.
- About The Song: To get the main riff first start slow and get the notes well, it's easier than it looks. I think many questions will apply on some parts so i'll be anwering them separately on comments. Transcribed from studio version with help of isolated bass tracks, and live videos

Great series, great meme, great song, great band.

I disagree, I don't think anyone can forget this bassline. People just like to act like they are bigger fans of something than other people in youtube comment sections for some reason.

Yes's 1972 hit Roundabout amazing song that was later featured in the 2012 adaptation of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency it then became a in joke among the anime community before leaking out into the mainstream becoming the ever popular "To Be Continued" meme
MrPika Gammer I just like the song
Fragile (the album) came out in 1971 in england, the american realase was in 1972, i don't know if it was worldwide
A joke? No. A revalation
Thanks for explaining this. Never watched Jojo's so I didnt understand the association or meme origin
thanks cap ;)
A little while ago I wasted over 20 minutes watching someone else's Roundabout bass tutorials. It was broken up into 3 separate videos. I don't know if he ever played the whole bass part. I bailed after part 2.
This, CoverSolutions, is the right way to make this video. Play the song, run the tabs on the screen in real time, let viewers hear how the bass works in context with the song. Five stars for doing it right!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was amazing man. This is one of my top ten favorite bass parts in any song
I know this has probably been said a million times...but JoJo's brought me here, and I'm so thankful. In watching old rock docs and specials I had heard Yes mentioned briefly many times, yet had never actually looked them up, until I heard Roundabout on JoJo's. I'm usually one of those people annoyed when an artist I like's videos are suddenly inundated by a ton of "___ brought me here". But now I've experienced a moment like that, and I guess it shouldn't matter how you find a great artist, just that you do.
Excellent cover my friend! I thought the intro was gonna be something crazy after hearing it, glad to see it pretty basic and hopefully I'll take time to learn the whole song soon.

The bass is crazy in this song, and i never noticed the subtle nuances of it before. Very cool!
Wow! I have been listening to this song since it was released and can now play it properly thanks to this video. Great job!
Okay all jojokes aside, you are absolutely one of my favorite bassists ever.
I always thought this was a slap song. Imagine my surprise when I saw that pick.
Great video, man!
I love this song. Amazing bass lines. Congrats!
Such a gorgeous main rhythm!
Actually, Roundabout is one of Cris Squire’s “easier” bass lines, so to speak. Pretty straight forward. I don’t know the make of the bass the poster is playing, but I do like the growl. Pretty close to the original. When this song was released, all of us were scrambling to string our basses with Rotosound Strings, and if you were rich enough to buy a Rick then great! A long time ago. Well done, sir.
It a Washburn
It's a good take on the sound, isn't it? One of the reasons I originally went onto Rotosound is exactly the reason you mention. I'm currently experimenting with other strings and sounds after many years of "devotion" to the Rotosounds. Wonder if I'll end up back where I started?
Can you play the B A S S?
I thought I'd have a quick bash at doing this again as I haven't played it in years, I'd forgotten how "metal" it was in its precision in use of the pick and muting.
One of those simple but difficult bass lines. Very enjoyable. Need to lift my action back up to do it properly though, I've been doing twiddly widdly tappy slappy madness (perhaps too long? Lol).
Isn't it great we have this inspiration on tap nowadays? I'm old (no, older) enough to remember not having the interwebnets and the ability to just click on tutorials, I had to sit next to a tape player and pick it up by ear whilst rewinding bits hoping the cassette didn't chew.
Love Rotosound. I have them on my Warwick and playing through an Orange amp. So sweet.

I;ve seen Yes perform this song several times. It was very sad when Chris passed away. I wasn't there, but the best other version of this is when Geddy Lee from Rush joined Yes as a guest when Yes were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. Geddy's a massive Yes fan and Chris was one of his inspirations, so to see him play with them and play this song so well was just amazing.

By George, I think you’ve got it. I haven’t picked up a bass in over 40 years, but I have always wanted to play this song. I could never figure out how Squire played it. This is damned close. Props to you, young man.
Hey guys, millennial here. To all the zoomers watching this, I’m excited to see you getting interested in the bass! The Jojo memes are a bit after my time so I may not get them, but I remember how J-rock inspired me to pick up the bass when I was 14. I remember how the bassist community mocked people who discovered the instrument through popular media, and how it felt so alienating. In the end, my decision to keep playing led me to experience the world in ways I couldn’t imagine living without. Music is beautiful; it doesn’t matter how you discover it.
I first heard this song when I was young. My dad used to play classic rock in the car when he took us to school, so it holds sentimental value for me. I didn’t come to appreciate this song’s musicianship until my interest in anime and Rock Band inspired me to pick up the bass.
Don’t listen to people who act like you can’t truly appreciate this song because of how you found it. I’m 25 now, and choosing the bass as my first instrument was the best decision I’ve ever made. It taught me the fundamentals of music, and now I am discovering the depth of its expressive potential. I don’t think I’ll ever stop playing it.
So yeah, welcome to the world of music history! Y’all are kicking ass and changing the world. Good luck.
It’s just a few notes but I had such a hard time learning this one lol, the timing is everything here
