the switch from subcontrabass to soprillo is EPIC
I never expected the subcontrabass to sound that good, let alone for the same person to jump between it and the soprillo like that and for both to be beautiful.
I was stunned! He’s an amazing musician!
the scary thought is he could've accidentally dropped the one in the other...
@@jakeisjake112 I don't know. I'm sure someone already has a very long name for the compound instrument that dropping one into the other would make. 😂
Agreed. I played Soprano, bari, alto, and the embouchure used to produce good sound has a different feel. To jump back and forth with no warm up in between is impressive.
Once you're adept at all the saxes, switching between them is easy. If you have trouble with one of them, it means you need to practice it more.
Attilio Berni is a GENIUS to play all these types of saxophones in tune and each one with its own “voice”, genius, bravo, bravissimo!
How this guy transitions from horn to horn with such ease and makes such a beautiful tone from each instrument is amazing.
Moving from one saxophone isn't difficult, same fingers different pitch key. I go from alto, tenor and soprano.
@@shirleyfrancis4515 Those sound like the three easiest transitions.

I've just returned from a fabulous land of new sound-many thanks to an extraordinary musician.
nice, thanks, but it's listed in the description, sans time stamps, so thanks for that
Questi sassofoni sono fantastici, suonano alla grande.
This guys tone is so smooth and sweet . Can't image the hours to achieve such a smooth sweet tone on so many horns. I have played for years and don;t think I could be so consistent on so many different horns.. BRAVO!

Ya know, I couldn't tell you why, but there is something about the slide saxophone that brings me joy every time I hear it.
The fact that it sounds like a trombone, perhaps?
lemme get some Lon Lon Ranch theme on the saxoslide
@@Rutherford_Inchworm_III For me it's the fact that it doesnt sound like a trombone that makes me like it so much lmao
First time I've seen/heard one. Pretty freaking wild!
Jeez he can play. I mean sure these are some gorgeous instruments, but to play them all so beautifully...
(my favourite is probably the bass tarogato, but honestly I love almost every instrument in this video)
I was in Rome last year. How could I have played sax almost forty years and not know there was a sax museum?!
I missed out too! I was in rome just a year ago. What a shame.
Attilio Berni, Thank you for exposing the sounds of these saxophones to the world
The double bell Tenor is new to me, I'm excited and love the all
The amount of talent oozing from this man
Bravo! Bellissimo! The talent of your quartet is outstanding! To be able to play all the saxes in tune is remarkable!
I have to plan a trip to Italy just to hear you. If you ever come to the USA, come to New Orleans. Happy
Happy
What a great collection…..and player. Bravo!
Amazing demonstration of the versatility of my most favorite brass instrument, which in this case can be made of any material, including wood and or plastic! Excellent performances and flexibility of the sax player to switch from any sax to any other sax. I know the fingerings are almost identical from one to another but still, this was truly incredible! Thank you so much.
I really didn't know a brass instrument like a sax could be made of wood! I only knew about the plastic ones because Ornette Coleman used to play an alto plastic sax on some of his recordings. I agree this guy's ability is really amazing! I love that Klezmer break in "The Nearness of You" on the wood soprano sax!
Saxophone is a woodwind.
Today I learned that the tarogato exists. Seriously! This is why music is a thing! It's a form of enrichment of knowledge, not just entertainment!
A CRIATIVIDADE DO NOVO INSTRUMENTO, NADA ACRESCENTOU AO QUE JÁ EXISTE !!! O NOVO INSTRUMENTO, É SIMPLESMENTE FRUTO DE UMA INQUIETAÇÃO HUMANA, QUE NUNCA ESTÁ SATISFEITA COM O QUE EXISTE ... BELO VIDEO !!!
I'd love to try taking one of these weird saxophones to a common repair shop and see their reactions when I ask them to repair it
Wow to that conn timbre
thought i was seeing double when i looked at the tenor in the beginning, very nice sound with it!
Beautiful job. Every piece was great and I suspect some of these instruments have serious limitations, yet each piece stands alone as good music, not just novelty.
J'elle Stainer sub contrabass saxophone is the most awesome piece of plumbing. Cheers!
Most enjoyable performance! Bravo. Great selections and perfectly interpreted and performed. Thank you.
Fantastic stuff, I had no idea about many of these instruments...Imagine taking this show on the road though. Check in at airports would take hours.
Simply, amazing! I love jazz, but never heard a sub-contra do jazz! Wow!!
Magnificent display of instruments & musicianship! Great choice of music for such elegant instruments. Next time I get to Italy . . .
"Someday my prince will come" has this feeling of familiarity even though I've never heard it. I don't know how to describe it but it just fills me with nostalgia
SO classy
So cool. Thank you so much for posting this. Very fine playing and interesting instruments. Now If only I could afford a Conn O Sax....
Bravo!
Delightful, thanks, you have gained a new and very happy subscriber! Mr. Berni, you are the wizard of woodwinds... you are a...Woodwizard of the Winds!
This was beautiful
No kidding! Nice to know that they’re conserved & still around, sounding great too!
Fantastic bravissimo
this video needs more views
I shared it on my fb. As a former “band kid” and a “lapsed” clarinetist, I’m confident that some of my former band mates will enjoy this performance.
The giant sax is the least important thing in the video. Piazzolla's Oblivion rendition is superb...
Can you imagine bringing a sub contrabass saxophone to blues alley?
:)))
Minds would be blown! ❤️
My kid says “daddy it sounds like Farts… lol a whole bag of farts!” She’s not wrong! I love the soprano clarinet and the piccolo sax! Very neat video!!
Love this very beautiful accomplished instrumentalist
The whole Band is out of this World bravo 👏👏👏👏🎶🎺🎶🎺🎶🕺
Nice work playing all those different horns! I liked the sound of the open hole and the slide sax the best.
bravo!!!
meus parabéns extraordinário !!!
my extraordinary congratulations !!!
todo expectacular
That was so fun and amazing ... thanks for sharing.
I want to take up sax now! This is such a lovely treat!
9:26 that subcontrabass sax!!!!
Sounds like my Grandpa's farts.
This is absolutely amazing!
Italians are Gods
Magnifico saxofonista ...
Artists, all! Bravi!
Thanks!
Juste magnifique !
Thoroughly enjoyed, thank you!
WELL DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This video is cool! What is the double bell sax though? WHY???? Now I need to google this....Different notes??? Kind of like a French horn?
I was wondering same, what does the double bell do?
Look for the video about uncommon instruments. My mind was blown!
Love this
The Bass Tarogato has the neck of a tenor sax, half the body of a contrabassoon, and sounds like a tenor sax...
...so its basically a wood tenor sax
Doin the lord's work.
Nunca vi tantos instrumentos tão inusitados... 👏👏👏
This makes me wish the sub/octocontrabass clarinet still worked
9:26 if you just wanna hear the subcontrabass
Wonderful jazzmen!
my guest room now sound like an france cafe in 4 PM
So enjoyed this!
No way he played Luigi’s Mansion theme 😮
Beautiful ❤️
The subcontrabass must use a 2x6 for a Reed
Great skill needed to play such a wide range of saxophones. That subcontrabass sounds like a foghorn ! They all sounded pretty good, except for the slide sax which struggles to stay in tune. I didn't know that the Italian Saxophone Museum now houses the biggest collection of saxes in the world.
10:50 he really lets that one sing wow
great tone in the upper range for an instrument that small
THAT instrument sounds very easily pronouncing and smooth-playing, basically resistant free
I love it 🎷😃
That´s new to me: An unknown brazillian extreme saxophone factory.
Un sax con 2 campanas (pabellón)???😲😲😲😲
Maravilha de som !!!
🎷🎷🎷
That Greek mythology creature we see being played here is what happens when you don't put away you horns in their respective cases, but leave them to hang out together overnight.
Come on, people "Muhely soprano tarogato" you have just left out the makers name since műhely means just workshop. The name comes before that.
Bravo 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The thing at 9:35 should be called a saxofart
fartophone
What pitch is it in? Maybe Bb or C? I was expecting something reasonably low sounding but it's like the tenor. It's certainly beautiful.
Please excuse my ignorance, but what is the purpose of a double bell?
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
I want to see peole clean the sub-contabass sax or do they not clean it
Pero que saxo mas raro!!!
Is this made of bamboo or plastic ?
Como se llama ese instrumento de 2.44 gracias
How great music
How is the sax at 15:00 a bass? it's straight, but size and range of a Tenor.
7:50 ALTA TRANSICION
