New DJI Firmware Updates for Air 2S & Mini 3 Pro - Served with Remote ID!

- New Firmware updates DJI could have done before but waited!
These new updates are served with a side of Remote ID compliance which we all know is coming but in my opinion this was slick to add what many wanted to avoid for now into an update hard to resist.
Adding things for the Air 2S & Mini 3 Pro that many have been waiting for is the perfect time to slip in RID but they could have done it as a stand alone update. Oh...and you can't go back! - Věda a technologie
We all have to comply in the States eventually but this was a way to make sure we do. Just my opinion but RID should be an update of it's own not mixed in with things they knew we couldn't resist. These firmware updates we can't turn back are getting a little controlling as well but when you are the drone king you rule the people!
Time to get the older quads off the shelf. Lol

Thank you so much for this! I almost installed the update, but held off because I wasn't sure what all it contained. Grateful to have found this before I updated.
Definitely won't be using an internet-connected control device for the foreseeable future.
The general public should never be able to track down a pilot & their drone using public geolocation data. Targeted thefts and Karen confrontations will skyrocket. Very poorly thought-out regulation.
It will be interesting to see how it all works out.

Autel, Fimi, Hubsan and others will start doing the same thing very soon. I think that’s a sneaky thing to just force it on people in a firmware update without the option to cancel or “go back” on it. You should have the say so to install it as a stand alone option if you want to or not. This is why I never bought a DJI product. I always felt that they are sneaky and peaky with it. Yes, they are the best drone makers on the planet but does that allow them to control you (the user) from controlling the product that you spent so much money on? Regulations or not, this is plain wrong.

My friend brought over his Air 2S that has the new firmware installed and I have the Drone Scanner app and the OpenDroneID app on my Android phone which is tested to be working with DJI WiFi RID broadcast, but it didn’t detect any broadcast of Remote ID coming from the Air 2S. Is it only enabled by default on the Mini 3 Pro? Must you manually enable it on the Air 2S? We only turned the drone on to make sure it was communicating with the RC after updating to DJI Fly1.7.8. Does it require you to be flying before it broadcasts the RID? Surprised nobody has made videos demonstrating RID in action after all of the new updates.
It’s hard to say right now and who knows how it will be once the FAA gets their act together with this shit.
Hi Chris. A question, one of the reasons I cancelled my initial order for the mini 3 pro was the terrible depth of field in land and seascapes, it was so oftputting to see the far background out of focus. Im wondering if all the updates the drone has received have made a difference to that out of focus background. Many thanks my friend.
No it’s still a little frustrating in that department. In my opinion anyhow especially if compared to the Nano Plus.

Especially since DJI care refresh isn't covered if you aren't on the latest firmware.
Not exactly true…being on the latest firmware and being covered is based on the situation. Hardware failure doesn’t wait for new firmware to fail or fail because it’s tired of the old firmware and flyaway coverage covers a lost drone in which they don’t ask what firmware version you were on.

Thanks for this informative video. The way I understand it, if you don't register your drone such as a recreational pilot using a sub 250 gram drone, you don't have to activate Remote ID. I also heard that if Remote ID hasn't been activated, you will get a Remote ID error message in the upper left corner. Since I'm getting that error message now I guess that indicates that even though I have updated to the latest firmware, I'm not transmitting remote ID coordinates. Can you confirm this?
We aren’t there yet so it’s not anything but speculation I guess but the way I understand it is we all will need to be compliant and sub 250 may get raised to a heavier weight allowing some little larger heavier drones to be treated like the sub 250’s are now. That’s promising but ever changing till they make it all something final I guess.
I will not comply to a corrupt system in its overreach pay to play and make way for the almighty corporate drone delivery service providers. They can kick rocks w this remote id bs.
I wouldn't mind seeing some of your just for fun flying videos on this channel or a second channel. You have some great scenery there. Watching this video, I think I will keep my DJI mini2 forever and only use with Litchi.
I often think of doing just that so maybe next spring I’ll take you on a tour of all my spots where I don’t share on CZcams.

I thought that the benefit to owning a drone under 250g was that remote id wasn't going to be required? So now the Mini 3 Pro will be able to be tracked by authorities?
That should still be the case but maybe it needs to be there for the working 107 pilots or those who load these down with extra weight.
Not sure if any sneaking around behind our backs will be happening for the hobbyist owners.
DJI AIR 2S goes to C1 or not, did they retrofit on this class?
Here in the US I don't follow that but I think just the Mavic 3 has.

You should google EU Drone Remote ID. It’s different from the US but I don’t know the specifics enough to quote them.
That Firmware flip it does when switching aircraft is the same method used with RM330 pairing with Mavic 3, that DJI gave us early summer. It confused a lot of folks; the onscreen dialog. Biggest reason? Mini 3 Pro no havee the Airsense, where Mavic 3 & Air 2S do. There may be camera related differences as well. No biggie. My Mavic 3 had a lot of lockups/app freezes with the RM330, but I like flying Mini 3 with the RC Pro. DJI getting it done with interoperability, which illustrates how stable and less experimental these platforms are becoming. *He says as O4 gets released*
Yeah all the firmware is in those rc’s after the initial update. It just needs to activate small aspects when you switch from drone to drone using it.
Bonjour Chris, nice video, I hope they do not force us to remote ID here in Canada,. and why do they remote ID the sub 250 grams drones ( DJI Mini 3 pro, DJI Mini 2 ) that we don't even have to register? Is this another thing the US will try to apply to the rest of the world,,,, again
Hey buddy! I think the reason for RID on the Mini 3 Pro is for those that work with it and for those that load them down with weight but I’m sure it’s always on. lol

I remember reading that Air 2 will need an outside solution. Not automatic through a firmware update.
That quad and others that can’t be done by way of firmware will get a pod like device you attach to the quad. At you’re expense I suppose. 🙄
Exactly what harm would adding a software license plate mean since all other wireless radio transmission including telemetry isn't encrypted and could be obtained easily? There's even apps out there freely scanning the WiFi and Bluetooth radio transmission spectrum like Drone Scanner? 🙈🤔😂

It's my understanding that this update also enables remote ID on the sub250g drones like mini 3 Pro.
And it's not possible to turn this off.
If this is true this is outrageous as dji are forcing you all in the states who have bought a sub 250g drone to avoid the remote ID to actually be advertising yourself id location etc when it's not necessary. Sub 250 doesn't need remote ID unless part 107.
I'm in the UK and I don't see any one talking about this......its just wrong
I'd totally get rid of all my dji gear if they forced on me remote ID when in the law of my land it said It wasn't needed or required by law!!
It’s part of the Mini 3 Pro firmware update now and new area information pops up on the screen now but I’m thinking they did it for those who work with the drone or overload it with accessories. 🤷♂️
@@QCGUY I believe DJI need to be made aware that this is just wrong.
Sub250 doesn't require remote ID.
If part 107 then their should be something in the app enabling users to activate it. (A one time activation so as to obey the FAA rules)
As for accessories interestingly my mini 3 detected when I had fit the new wide angle lens.

Don't care for remote id. My mini 3 pro will stay on beta 310 firmware. Bunch of BS from dji. Making drone under 250 gr remote id mandatory. They should give us an option to the customers.
Yeah, no matter what they say as long as it’s on that drone, they will be watching you more than they already are.

If you don’t know you don’t have the controller which is called the dji rc as I said in the video.
If you own a air 2s or mini 3 pro and don’t know this controller I’m not sure this video is for you or applies in any way.
