Props to the iBP rep for giving the guy the recommendation to your services versus just telling them to pound sand and buy a new system.
This exactly. Nice!
I feel like this will not be the last customer that gets directed to Greg by IBP from now on lol
It's cool one time but he isn't the IBP fixer. They tend to use cheap parts and no one wants to see 1000 prebuilts getting rebuilt. IBP needs to up thier warranty with the massive upcharge they do on systems
That is kinda awesome that a company recommends you for something like this. :)
Just an employee there :) Sort of bad for business, but each have their own... morals I guess.
@@gamerdweebentertainment1616 true
@@gamerdweebentertainment1616 It was out of warranty. The guy did him a favor, and the next time he's looking to buy a pre-built system, IBP will be plus in his mind.
Awesome, or lazy? I can see an argument for both.
Scratch that, I replied before starting the video. If this machine was out of warranty, then it was an awesome recommendation.
2:20 doesn't matter if is fresh water, salt water, or shit water 😂.
All can hear is "CAN YOU TAKE ME HIGHER?!" as soon as i saw the shirt.
"To a place where blind men see..."
Men of culture, I see!
"Put your PC higher!"

I heard "hold me now, I'm 6 feet from the edge. "
This channel has got me into building pcs at 40 y.o. I built mine and just finished my sons. Your videos helped me take that leap. It's also saved me some money as well. Can't beat that . I Appreciate what you do for the pc building community.
Watching Greg's videos (especially the PCDC videos) made me clean my rig more often.
I found him after researching SFF budget PCs. A guildmate pointed me to it. I'll be 50 next year 😂 I thought you still had to solder things yourself lol
Old Balls unite! I'm 42 and I just got back into PC building for the first time since high school when I was 40. I credit channels like Greg's that offer up knowledge and advice in a digestable and accessible way with keeping me going early on when everything seemed so overwhelming and intimidating. Thanks to all the Greg's of the world and CZcams and good luck with your continued journey!
68 and building PCs for many grandkids! I’m gaming COD too!

kudos to the service rep that decided to suggest you to their customer, that is a knowledgeable rep and they deserve a bonus.
We’ve gone from Mclarens getting flooded by hurricanes to PCs getting flooded by toilets
Give it a bit long and each will be equally expensive as well.
Don't forget, the P1 was also damaged by a toilet.
@@frankkeck3114 I promise a broken Mclaren will stay more expensive. ;)
My comment is harder to find funny with what happened to super cars recently in Dubai.
"Put your PC on the desk" is a good CREED
"CAN YOU TAKE ME HIGHER"

No
Techsource took that too seriously

It's unconscionable that this dude has been at 893k subscribers for months. This dude deserves to be over 1 million, in my opinion. Love the fix or flops!
i agree but the fact that he's still getting views and sponsors is good enough for me every view counts for him :)
we have a scheduled 12 hour power outage in an hour or so. glad this was uploaded so early so I don't miss my fix or flop ... uh... fix this week.
South Africa ?
in south africa haven't had any power cuts for 30 days
Is that normal
Buys a PSU tester to see if power supply is functional and can still be used. PSU in question passes with flying colors. Proceeds to bin the PSU anyway. "That's a bold strategy Cotton"
???
Good form iBuypower.
and good on the owner of the rig for not trying to turn it on.
and Greg.. all aces.
Mine is on one of those stands with wheels, it has a good floor clearance.
Even the simple solutions are awesome videos. I feel like people run into this situation and question whether they should turn their rig back on or not. Super informative. Thanks Greg.
You can tell when the projects are easy when the videos in this series are only 10 minutes long. I think it's neat that iBP recommended you for a repair.
As a car repairman for years, when I see signs of a car being flooded, I beg the owner to run away from the car. Cars are built with computer systems and have the voltages you'd expect in a computer a lot.
A car flooded, could be fine 6 months, a year, start to have issues, until it's an endless money pit after a flood. A computer, who's power supply that could start to rust and get high resistance somewhere... those high resistances are probably what fry so many strange things on a flooded car, but a computer is built less protected than a car from elements in design. I suspect something would just fry, more so even than flooded car components. I woke up really early before typing this, sorry if there are any typo's...
“Haters gonna hate!” Love the work you do, and awareness you bring to the viewer, THANK YOU Greg!
My computers are on the floor, on the 2nd story. LOL
You're a more generous guy that I am; I would've tested that power supply in a different rig as well, but once I saw that it was working, it would've went right back in
Totally agree with Greg on that - keep your desktop away from the floor.
Love the PassMark inline power supply tester, UNTIL i saw the $620 usd price tag 😢
LoL, that was exactly my sentiment when I first saw Greg use it. I did however just see that the Thermaltake Dr. Power III was just released in Europe and will be coming soon to the US. I'm sure the PassMark tester is better on a commercial level as the price indicates, the ThermalTake tester looks pretty decent and at under $50 USD is more in line with at least my budget as a hobbyist.
Greg you made the right call. I had an APC power backup unit get flooded and let it dry out and it worked for a few weeks. Lucky I was home when it started smoking. Pulled it out and took it outside fast. That was a close one. You definitely did the right thing. A+
much respect to Be Quiet for being a staple part of this series. i'd definitely try to get something from them on my next build, hopefully.
I build a lot of computers, and strangely, I didn't notice how high end some of Be Quiet's components are in other reviews until they were featured here. It's as if their branding is.. quiet. :)
I really really enjoy your channel!!! Love these fix or flop video's
Greg welcomed this challenge with arms wide open.
One of the easiest FoF videos I've ever watched... :D
Well, I have got to say, you took this Fix or Flop Season 5, Episode 9 ... With Arms Wide Open!
Easily the most informative and educational on all of CZcams! It’s entertaining and also teaches me what to look out for if my PC or my friends/familys PC runs into these issues. Thanks Greg
Thanks so much for the support!
No need to upgrade the cooler unless the cpu is overheating, not sure why ppl always think the cpu needs to be over cooled. The stock cooler or equivalent will keep the cpu cool enough unless you overclock, then stock cooling won't keep up. Great video Greg!
The Creed shirt.... classic...😅😂
Great video. Nice job on the fix.
Thanks for still posting this vid even though nothing was really wrong with the system. Teaching people how they can save a ton of money by playing it smart after something like this.
its fix or plop now is it . nice on mate .
Another great video, Love the creed shirt too. I might see them live in NY this year!

Great video Greg and while I would love to put my pc on my desk unfortunately, I don't have enough space on my desk and no space for a second desk.
Man, you've started something new and something big with Fix or Flop. Who cares what other people feel like you should've done. At the end of the day you FIXED the issue that was reported to you and we got to learn how you go about troubleshooting. Everybody got something to say when they're not the one in the driver's seat. I look forward to each video just to see what you come across. This show isn't named Fix and Upgrade. If the customer is trying to get upgrades they shouldn't bother sending in a broken machine. Keep up the great videos.
this was just funny all along man
I love it
Holy crap, I just saw that PSU tester is $620 dollars from PassMark... that is some fancy equipment there
I have that exact psu! My current 3 year old system is an IBP pre-built with various upgrades done over time: case, ram, an extra ssd, a better aio, and better fans. In my experience, their PSUs are great quality!
my Friday is now Set thanks Greg
Good guy taking precautions nice to see
Honestly it's a good thing he didn't power it on. It's possible the water dried up. Probably was very little but at the end of the day props to the owner for not taking chances and not powering it on.
I really enjoy this content. Helping reasonably local computer owners recover their computers - epic efforts always. Presented professionally even when solutions elude you or the videos are short like this one - thanks :)
Much appreciated!
Flooded Toilet Unit is going to be the name of my new band!!
Sick Creed shirt 😂 and great video as usual!
Had my rig on the floor, spilled a beer on my desk and down into the rig. Dried that baby off real good, put it * off * the floor and onto the desk. She ran great--but smelled like burnt beer--for over a year before I had to replace the MoBo. So, yeah, learned my lesson about PCs, floors, and beers. 😆
Mr. Salazar! I just want to thank you so much for all your fix or flop videos. Watching your videos is what motivated me to stay up until 3 in the morning to fix my computer! I was considering turning it in to you if i couldn't get it but I kept thinking about how you go through most of your fix or flops. I was able to fix it all because you created this series! THANK YOU!!!
Thank YOU! Your support is greatly appreciated!
Having the PC on the desk also reduces dust buildup inside it. Plus if it has a glass side panel, it looks cool, so it's aesthetically pleasing.
I've never kept one on the floor, but with the insane air flow I like to use, my PC"s build dust like they're goal is to clean the air for the whole dang house. LOL
Usually when we open our case and find a terd in it, it is referring to the 7 year old RX 580 in it that has seen better days. This potentially had an actual* floater in it 💩
Awesome that buypower recommends greg for this pc.
love this series Greg :D Be quiet is great and this is the same exact PSU I have in my rig.. Crazy how something so tiny could be why your PC is running a little off or weird.. I was dealing with some weird glitchy laggy noise when moving my mouse in the middle of a youtube video, or opening a new window during and moving over the icons on my taskbar.. Started when I moved into my new apart a couple of months ago.. Well! today I decided to get a new Cyberpower Surge protector and plugged everything into that.. No more issues, My fans instantly ran faster on boot also! could hear them like they were not used to being that fast.. lol!
I know that wasn't the issue here but still, PSU wasn't getting the power it needed and altho my PC still booted up wasn't at full potential with the old Brick I had everything plugged into before.. Was just time to get new.
Hi Greg. That was a nice, short, and successful fix. When you placed his PSU in the ALIENWARE case, I was surprised the PC booted. I totally believed that ALIENWARE/DELL PSUs were proprietary and not switchable with non-ALIENWARE/DELL PSUs. Have these companies now gone mainstream? There is another good reason, if you own a male dog, not to place a PC on the floor. They have a tendency to think the PC is a tree.
DUDE, LOVE the t-shirt!!!
Its cool that iBP referred the viewer to you, would have been much cooler if they offered to test + replace damaged parts. It feels weird, from an outside perspective, for a company to go "try this CZcams repair lottery" basically. Awesome you were cool with it
Props on the shirt, Greg!
Just for future reference, I really like when the specs of at least the CPU, RAM and GPU are also mentioned. Good video!
If you are just trying to go the few inches route, you could always use yoga blocks. At least you won't have the computer on the floor itself...
Agree about the unit being on the desk. It needs to be off the floor. I have my tower on a small table. It's not as high as my desk but it's a few feet off the ground.
good job Greg👍👍
"And the Legend of Greg spread all throughout Floridaland. From Apalachicola to the Everglades, word of his deeds passed on from nerd to geek and from geek to commoner, and soon even Normie IBuyPower citizens even heard of his greatness."
Good Guy Greg being the Goodest Guy. LEGEND!
LMAO thats actually dope that Ibuypower literally sent this guy to you, super cool
Greg,
it appears this client's PC was really in the sh1t.
Great video!
This episode should be called fix or plop!
Nevermind flooding. Just regular floor dirt dust, dust bunnies and pet/people hair are awful for PCs with air intakes, especially the power supply with the bottom intake.
Great video.
Big fan of Be quiet! products, got plently of them in my personal rig and just built a pc for my friend with lots of Be quiet! hardware :D
Looking forward to the next video :)
That was really nice of you to give him a new power supply so that he won't have to worry about it. This is why your a great channel to watch.
It likely didn't overflow how you imagined. In order for turd water to overflow you'd have to have a plugged toilet and a failed flapper. Otherwise any water that goes into the toilet from a leaking flapper simply continously fills the toilet past the p trap and down the drain.
The more likely failure was a fill valve that ran nonstop and overflowed from the tank of the toilet. One requires two failures the other only requires one.
That shirt though!!! Greg why didn't you give him an RTX4090?!?(Sarcasm)
For all we know you did the right thing for the long-term and it's a handy upgrade!
As a former student worker that worked with hardware for university and now, a web app developer that a lot of times touches the application stack on our servers, I LOVE the series. You started the series screwing every motherboard you think would work but end up not working. The latest season show that you've learned to test the motherboard, cpu, and ram together first to boot on top of a box. I love that you've learned a lot as time went on and even used that PSU tester from the get go. Even when I have a new build, I always test the three and plugged in to PSU before screwing things in, just so I know power goes through motherboard, then I plug in gpu just to see if the entire system posts.
When our main hardware IT guy for our machines told me about that PSU tester, my jaw dropped and wished I had that kind of tester back then. And even with multimeter and reference to check the rails, it's still hard to know if you're getting clean power.
PS. Hot tip if you don't want to waste too much thermal paste and save some time, you can test to post a CPU even when you place an air cooler that has a flat plate on top of the cpu even without screwing in and without thermal paste just to test to post. The contact of the air cooler is good enough to at least keep CPU temp not crazy while idled on BIOS. It can end up with tiny scratch on the cpu but is worth the savings especially if you ended up testing more than one cpu. But disclaimer, I've never tried it with CPUs that run more than 150 Watts. Or if you wanna be lazy, keep reusing the same paste (except if really old and crusty) until you know you're gonna be finally screwing in the cooler so you can save some time on cleaning paste over and over.
PPS. Now that you have a NAS rack server setup. Next thing you gotta learn is setup your own VPN at home to make all that footage accessible everywhere for yourself. Either set it up at router level with port forwarding, or use open VPN. You're gonna end up learning about networking yourself too.
They Epyc's I built were a PIA. Let me tell you. I reused paste like crazy because they're just so big. I've actually tried quite hard to pick up what Greg uses as a PSU tester. No success yet. If you know where to look or what keywords to use to find one... I'd appreciate it!
Yes, I'm right there with you. I need to setup port forwarding or a VPN. Been aware for a while it's what I need to learn/build out next.
I love this video.
Another great episode of Fix or Flop!
Thanks for watching!
@@GregSalazar Yep of course!
Thats dope that u were recommended but i mean come on your just better!!!
You’re a good guy Greg.
Honestly, I give the pc owner props on this one. I don't have patience. I probably would've just overlooked the case/components and assuming everything looked dry, I'd have sent it and hoped for the best.
I wonder if like a flooded car, with so many similar power systems to a computer, if it'd rust over time and just randomly take parts out and would have really made a mess of a repair later, which a lot of people, not this channel owner, might just give up finding a solution to and end up replacing it all.
i agree with your decision to just fix power supply. Good info on what to do in this situation. Agree I tell my friends all the time to not put there pcs on floor or carpet.
How do you clean the computer when the dust is sticky ish and won’t move by an air blower?
Great video and always helpful.
I have a question. Recently when I go to turn my pc on it doesn’t always turn on right away, sometimes it takes three to four button pushes. Is it possible it could be the case malfunctioning? The pc runs fine with no issues besides that. I appreciate any help. Thank you.
Creed! “With arms wide open under the sunlight, welcome to this place I’ll show you everything”
You can buy desktop case hangers to mount your pc underneath or on the side of the desk on the cheap.
That's how you know you've made it in life, when named retailers recommend you instead because you can handle it better than they can. 🤣
Well that was a flush of entertainment.
Modular psu's are the jazz.
Dude you are awesome. I try to be a nice guy myself but I'm afraid I would take a hard pass on a PC that had been in toilet water! :D 10/10 to you my man!
That toilet water is so diluted it's almost all water. What I really like about this series. Is that Greg just shows the process. Regardless if the fix or flop is easy, hard, special or just commen.
We keep learning with you 👍💯
@gregsalazar Good seeing you today 4/27....yes, the ladies like fast cars...keep up the good work
@greg i love your human clay sweater🙂
Good advice, my PC is on the desk, never thought about a flood in that way, since I'm on the second floor.
The irony watching a fix or flop episode while I fix my own PC HAAA!!
The ibuy power rep could have let the cutomer know if they have renters insurnace or home insurance. All they need to do was get a quote from a computer tech of the value of the unit. pay the deductable and get a new computer. But this way also worked!! I have a repair shop in the Jacksonville,FL area and this is always my go to for customers that run into this situation.
That's the case I got. But did a complete new system upgrade went froma 11600k to a 7900x3d. I took the front glass off for better cooling and put a total of nine fans in the case.
Greg with the Creed shirt!!
I can't believe the Skibidi Toilet tried to rizz up this gaming PC but got fantum taxed by some sigma working at iBuyPower in Ohio
Leave that psu on the shelf for a month and I'll bet stuff starts to grow inside, good choice.
Yoo you have a Creed shirt!
I miss mine (something housefire)
First and foremost, nice Creed shirt Greg! It's awesome that they're back together again, looking healthy and sound good.
That aside, at the beginning of the video you had mentioned the warranty. It may or may not have been your intention, or maybe I took i the wrong way but it almost seemed like you implied that the warranty would have covered this machine had it not been expired.
To the best of my knowledge, most places don't cover physical or liquid damage under the warranty. Am I missing something here?
Yes, an extended warranty should, but not the initial warranty, not for a flood.
I know exactly why my PC sits on a table. ^^
Sup Ibuypower guy, well played.
The probable scenario is that the auto water level arm/valve went out and the tank over filled and started flooding the house. It would have been very slow that source is not like a open hose. That in mind the amount needed to start filling a residence would have been over a couple days. Odds are the water didn't get over a few inches deep as it would have started leaving under the entry doors. The water from this area of the toilet is clean water not sewage. All precautions are to be taken anyway.
