Shit, i wasn't ready to see Rdavidr playing Hardcore Punk but that's great
Wow a cymbal demo where the cymbals are actually played!! Revolutionary
R E V O L U T I O N A R Y
I know right!!!!!
All of David's videos are quality
You must be soooo fun at parties...
Jay Villanueva who
Huh? Are you a punk rocker, never seen you play this aggressive before. Well done sir.
Used to haha
rdavidr have you not ride a ride?
I heard some hardcore type beats in there too, would be cool to see some of that on the channel!
@@cameronbarber3768 I second this. Rock drumming FTW
When I saw the music less clip on FB, I knew you were playing some crossover type stuff.
Meinl, hit davidr up with a sponsorship already!
Well, they are already giving some good exposure to each other with these collabs. I think it is quite close to a sponsorship in my opinion. But yeah, making it more official would be nice.
Tyler Bailey They don’t want to see their beautifully crafted cymbals with HOLES drilled into them.
Joe Rico 😂 or shot by a pistol
@@Assimilator702 dunno why, he has good ideas
Joe Rico Hahahahah
These are my favourite cymbals for metal/hardcore/punk, especially the crashes.
Which was your favorite?
See the other cymbals in this series: bit.ly/2LPnyXq
Hi David
I know that the cybals you are great but why didnt you play the 18 China?
Keep on blasting🤘🤘
rdavidr all of em! You can make trash cans sounds great man! Keep on doing what you doing! Your awesome!
Definitely digging that crash ride the most
My favorite from this line isn't in this video, it's the 18 inch stack
rdavidr I really liked those 15’ hi hats though
bruh rdavidr out here playing youth crew straight edge hardcore this is sick
khaki cuffs right??
"He went from calm music to rock real quick"
🤷🏻♀️
I use the 18" and 19" in my set.
They're indeed, very loud, but the dark undertones is what makes me like it the most.
Fun stuff.
Btw, nice punk playing, you!
I've been looking at these for a while now. Glad i could hear them in a mix like you've done here.
Thanks mate.
This is, without doubt, the best vid you've ever done on cymbals. Why?!
Because you played those damned thing in EXACTLY the context they SHOULD be played in.
Every other CCD video is some melodic crap or the standard hip-hop funk beats, and you dont REALLY hear how they open up like this vid!
Thank you, man!!!
100%
@@AllingutsI own them. This is what they sound like... even without the mics. 💯
@@echopryme thanks, im in the process of buying them.
Agreed
@@Allinguts This is EXACTLY what they sound like. Just as loud (its going to piss off your guitar player... but he had an amp 🤣) and just as intricate.
Meinl, as a company, is one of my loyalties on this planet, honestly. They make AFFORDABLE products that sound GREAT! 💯 And not just the cymbals... but all of their stuff.
Most companies make their "affordable line for beginners" and it sounds like absolute trash. Meinl makes their "affordable line for beginners" too... (Brass cymbals and whatnot)... but they put the time into making them NOT sound like shit. They make their B8 Cymbals sound as good as humanly possible, and unlike Paiste and Zildjian, don't make you have to mortgage your house to get them. 💯
The Classic Custom Dark series sounds great on almost any stage (other than jazz... they ARE LOUD), and I've recorded them in studio to engineers being amazed at how well they record. 💯
All for 1/4 the price of a set of the (imo) overrated "K's"....
Meinl makes shit for people who WORK for a living. I respect the hell out of that company. 💯
Always knew you repped this style from when you used to always wear a Free Spirit tee! Sounds sick.
Exactly what I was looking for. Not only a perfect review of the cymbals I've been considering for a while but also rdavidr playing hcx beats. I love your channel!
I have the 17” and 18” crashes from this series. Between this series and the Extreme Metal series, they are the best mid-range cymbals on the market.
This might be one of the best videos on this cymbal pack. I don't know why I didn't see this video when researching these. I got this cymbal pack without seeing this particular video and was sort of taking a leap of faith with the "limited" amount of videos I saw of these exact cymbals. I went ahead and got them because they ticked most of the "boxes" I had in mind. I bet I'll like them is what I'm thinking after seeing how you play them. They still got to come in but now I'm more excited about them. You make them sound awesome man. To be half as good or a 1/3 I'd be fine with hahaha. Hopefully get decent with them and of course proper practice. Very cool channel. Thanks for sharing.
I was on Amazon looking at these cymbals when the notification popped up. Great timing!
The first group of crashes and hi hat sounded great, and I love the 22” crash ride. Thanks for posting this video.
Wow! Some amazing sound cymbals thanks for the demo David!
This is how you do a cymbal demo/review!! Love your stuff David.
The dark hats are beautiful. I have them on my kit and I love the way they sound.
Absolutely loved the punk playing on this video! I was trying not to two-step while watching it 🤣 I love these Meinls too 🥁
Ok, I want em. Thank you. I've been stuck on what to get and the other videos on CZcams just wasn't selling me. You did it sir!
Finally some meinl cymbals that sound dark but not like they are broken. These sound really good and look rad.
I actually use the 22" Dark Ride in my videos and with heavier studio sessions. Its seriously underrated if you demand a heavy, cutting ride cymbal. I've previously owned the 14" Dark Hats and loved them. I've played the crashes and the Crash-Ride, and they all sound great. The Crash-Ride in particular is a rarity in this price class, as you won't find many crash-able rides with good definition and a usable bell.
They sound and look amazing! Great video as always David, keep it up! 👍
I love the covers david used in this videos. Keep up the good work! 😃
I always love when you upload videos, it's an extra treat when you bust out some punk jams!
Keep up the good work, love your stuff! Cheers from sweden \m/
I have had the 22 crash/ride for about 6 months now and I absolutely love it!
Love these cymbals. Our old drummer had them and they sounded phenomenal! At least to my ears
Great cymbals. I'd have to say I like the 14 hats , 16 & 18 crash , 20 ride. I'm looking to get a mix of classic customs and darks.
Great video. Nice to actually "hear" this meinl series in action.
Just got these today, they sound amazing!
I hate the fact that I have those same cymbals and have had them for at least a year now and you still make them sound better lmao. Nice vid anyhow.
Ive had the 15" hats and 18" crash, and really love them. The crash has a nice dark tone but it is also punchy, it just sounds different. The hats are very versatile, good for more defined playing and can get loud and washy when you open them up. Really versatile cymbals. For the price, these are incredible.
Been playing with an almost complete set up of these for years now, which is great considering they’ve lasted a punk band, multiple recording sessions, and an entire summer stock on musical theater. I’m using the 16 crash as a crash ride on my street kit and it kicks ass with that bell. Can’t wait to get my China and complete the set.
one of my favorite cymbals is the 21" Classics Custom Dark Crash.. very versatile
Bro your playing has come a long since I started following you. Good stuff!!!!
YESSSSS LOVE U DAVE
I've been waiting to hear dave embrace his inner metal head for years
These are by far my favorite cymbals. Been playing for 24 years and i played every cymbal known to man lol but i exclusively play these now
Your technique flows really well into this genre man! It suits you!
Dang not sure how I missed this video. I’ve watched since the beginning days in the old room and garage. Didn’t realize you was into heavy metal. Awesome
I definitely love the 18 inch dark crash... I have one as well and that thing is a BEAST!!!
Dark side of the dave
I am 100% getting that crash ride! Its exactly what I'm looking for!
I like it when Rdavidr simply just start playing right at the start instead of listening to him for 1000 years
Don't disrespect the homie
Great review, great sound. I play Classic Customs darks too. And while I want to be playing Tool and Jinjer, I gig in a Zac Brown Tribute band in Florida and for small venues these things don't even need to be mic'ed up. That 22 inch ride had a ping reminiscent of Vinnie Paul. The 15 inch hats are crisp and dont have the overtones of cheaper metal. And the 20 inch crash is an absolute workhorse. I've heard there is an awesome stack that can be made with a Classics Customs Dark China and splash but havn't tried it myself. Drum on Drummers!
Gotta love those toms ❤️❤️
I love the cymbals they match the nice gray drum set!!!!
I was on the fence about these cymbals, but after hearing someone play them in the type of music I'm gonna be playing, they sound pretty damn good 👍. Thanks for not forgetting the punk and hxc drummers out there
The bell of the 22" ride (not crash ride) sounds tremendous. I'm buying these. Hands down, I'm buying them.
A great Video again🤘🤘
Great demo/playing! Nice sounding cymbals
recently bought the 14 inch hats, two 18 inch crashes, and two 18 inch chinas. loving all of them. will be getting more.
hey david, love the video. you should do a video where you put every piece of drum equipment that you own and make one monster kit
Wow! This was amazing and I really love the way you drums on this and over all it would be cool to meet you in person
I've had the 19 inch cash for about a year now. Love it. And after looking and listening to all kinds of other cymbals, I'm gonna buy some more of these. I don't think you can beat them for the money.
These cymbals sound awesome. Loved the crashes.
Great demo!
Looks like this dark things are perfect for hardcore punk! Never expected to hear this kind of stuff from you, haha :) Perfect!
You pretty much could sell me anything at this point. Your videos are the best. My kid thinks so too!
Great review. Your drumming game has really stepped up too.
I like the look and sound !
loved the new style! :)
Really digging the playing on this video!
This is crazy ironic, I just bought this set two days ago, looking to play them for the first time today!
I’ve got the classic custom 18” crash, 16” crash, and 8” splash. I’ve been debating about what to get for a ride and for a new ride and that crash ride sold me on it!
I can't wait to get my hands on this set, the look awesome and love how subtle the wash and vibrance is. Also you don't hear that super high pitched under tone in the sustain like the zildjans have, especially on their hi hats.
Holyshit, those actually sounds really good they look really cool too!
Dudeeee your playing has improved so so much!!!
Keep up the good work
funny you say that since these parts were played/originally recorded in 2014 lol
@@rdavidr No way!
Well I dont doubt you play even better
I played on these at my local Guitar Center they sounded amazing
I’m loving that 19 inch crash 🔥
I purchased the crash-ride before seeing this video, and I feel very affirmed. It's going to sound great in the studio! It also came with the 15" hats, and I have Zildjian crashes that I rather like... hopefully the darkness of those will be able to balance with the brightness of the crashes. I'd LOVE to not have to drop another couple hundred bucks to get these dark crashes.
These are some tasty cymbals! That ride is so sick
They look so cool with the silver drum set.
C Van Ek they look even better with a black set
David that CrashRide is a killer and the first set of Crashes sounded good Punk on bro!!!
Killer demonstration video of these cymbals I juts recently got an 18” crash. Now getting the 19” crash.
Such an awesome versatile musician man. Oh and the cymbals are good too lol
And it’s hardcore punk at that holy hell with that Tama imperial star and meinl cymbals!! Just for that I’m gonna have to buy some merch soon
I've been playing on those hats for about 2 years I think. Quite funny to see them in your video now
Bro great demo
Love them all.
I play these cymbals and I absolutely love them.
I have these and more to the set. Love how they sound
Do more of these. Thanks! Good run down.
So sick to hear you playing early 2000's hardcore stuff! I own an 18" and 20" crash of this set, they both record beautifully, I fallen out of love with the 20" unfortunately but the 18" is awesome!
Great video!
I rerally would like to listen to your old band david. Sounds really good.
Liked the video a lot. Maybe more so, cause you were jamming to those tunes.
They sound great!
I wish this video was around when I was trying to find a video of someone playing punk with these. Please do more reviews of gear while playing punk. It's a niche market, but it'll be appreciated
This 22'' ride/crash is sick, definitely my favourite
drum mix sounds great! did you upgrade any mics or change up your production at all?
I've been really really interested in these ever since I've seen them. I'm trying to finish my kit a 6 piece Mapex Mars (Black) and it would fit that kit perfectly. Would you suggest them for a beginner drummer? Also do they have any China Cymbals in that line up?
I like that style your playing David 👍
Wooow!!!......great sound!!!
Hey have you ever though about turning a kick drum into a snare. Kinda like a snom. Dunno if tid sound good but it's worth a shot
What kind of kick drum pedal do h use and where did u get it and I’m talking about the white or grey iron cobra
First time I hear you play to rock/Metal music 👌🏻
Never seen you play this hard.. dopee
I guess I bought the "mega" dark classic custom kit... My 8 cymbal kit came with that 22in crash/ride, 16in hi-hat, 18in and 19in crashes, 18in trash china, 16in trash stacker (my favorite sounding cymbal out of the pack) 12in trash splash, and some other 18in regular China. I dont use all of them but to me they arent as heavy as some cymbals. At first the studio engineer said no till he heard them and he too fell in love with the 16in trash stack cymbals. Also I keep my cymbals a decent distance away from my tom mics to keep the bleedthrough down since they are loud. But I find the sound is projected. I look at Amazon and they have them for $1,200 sometimes or $1,600. I got them for much cheaper but I'm super happy with them. They are unique, I get compliments on the road. Plus aside from just using a lint cloth theres not much in the way of cleaning them.
When did you make that short diffusion wall and how much did it change your sound?
