They did an amazing job with the engine. The only thing that the Raider and Roadliner/Stratoliner needed to be great was a 6 gallon gas tank and a nice 6 speed transmission.

Yamaha Raider is a beast of a bike. I have one of the first ones made. Bought it in December of '07. I have just over 101k miles on it and very few problems. Had to replace the fuel pump housing about 5 or 6 years ago. Other than that, no real problems other than wear and tear (fork seals, etc.)

I've considered putting floorboard on my Dyna
Yamaha not only uses the same engine, but in the Stryker and the others that use the Stryker 1300cc engine the used the same piston.... they're just a shorter stroke

I know that this is an older video. You've moved, so much has transpired since you posted this video!!! I've spent most of my life playing around on two wheels...but in 2009....I found out I was going to be a Dad!!! Think of me what you will...but, I had a 1989 Yamaha FZ700 Genesis bike!!! Delta box frame, just a fun bike....but now there was a little one coming! I argued, stood the ground, and did what all other real men do.....I caved and sold the bike!!!! My son is about to be 14 years old now. His mom decided someone else was more important to her than me, so we've been apart since 2015. Long story short... watching a number of videos on CZcams, and seeing your reviews....I got really interested in the Raider!!! Been a Yamaha fan forever and a day....so....the Raider, with that Ginormiss V-Twin, just reached out and grabbed me!! Been riding mine for over a year now..... totally Love it.....but now here's the kicker!!!! Sean.....I saw a video from you about the Stratoliner deluxe!!!! I said... that's my Raider with a ferring and bags!!! Suddenly I can see Two bikes in the garage!!! Lol...so...this mini book is only to say Thank You, May our Lord and God Bless you and your family until times indefinite!!! And as you say.... it's not what you ride...... it's how you get there!!! You, my Brother, helped me get there!!! Thanks again...and I apologize for the book! Lol😊

Thanks for the video and words of wisdom. I like it, but not the angular mirrors. If everything else on the bike is rounded or sweeping curves the mirrors should be too. So a friend of mine has a Shelby GT Mustang and always wanted to race my modest 750. I said you would win. But I could beat him with this right? I want three things on my next upgrade. I like Harley's but don't want an ocean liner type bike. 1.) I want a basic cruiser with lots of power. 2.) I want pegs that don't drag if I take a corner with hard bank. 3.) I want gear indicators on the gauge. Does this have that?

    Awesome video btw Sean👍

Actually, it's highly unlikely it's larger than your car engine. Very few cars have an engine smaller than a 2.0l. There are some but not many.

@Mallard I feel like a college kid! Had a Sonata for 7 yrs, 2.0 turbo, 274 hp, traded for a 2019 civic, 1.5 , turbo, maybe not as fast, but close. Both are way faster than my 6.0 f250 diesel. But then, I have the 92 vmax, 2013 Raider , and 08 Honda vtx 1800. At 62, feeling like a college kid for sure.

@Mallard Tongue in cheek reply here-, but errr in the erm, in the, "marking up the wall" stakes. I take it you live in that little country in the northern part of the continent of America, where relatively few venture outside their country, unlike us in Europe who frequently cross countries (and therefore cultures) and regularly cross continents. The place where your vehicles are such low tech they can't meet our emission standards and huge junks of your vehicle industry is now owned by European companies in order to gain the technology that we have, and most of your motorbikes come from overseas. So that for example, you too can have trucks that are as economical low in emisions and as powerful and heavy as ours. (Whatever happened to Cummins?) . . :-)

@Mallard Well, at 62, everything I have will probably outlast me, none of the men in my family made it much past my age. Even my 8.2 Detroit in the dump truck, slowest truck in the county, but it hauls a load every day. Old school bus motor I put in it about 15 yrs ago.

I hear ya. A motor usually has windings. It's electric. They call several things motors. I know at the bottom of a oil field drill string there's a device that's called a mud motor.
