Next, Yzerman calling up Aston-Reese over Marco Kasper (20:25) before we take a look at how the Red Wings stack up to the Capitals, Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers, and New York Islanders in the NHL playoff race (27:30).
    After that, the recent developments that show the Arizona Coyotes may be moving to Salt Lake City as Ryan Smith is reportedly part of a deal to buy the Yotes from Meruelo and move them to Utah (36:45).
    After that, NHL news including Matthews' potential 70 goals, McDavid, MacKinnon, Kucherov, & other Hart candidates, & more (55:15) before we take your questions and comments during our Overtime segment (1:10:05) - enjoy!

    Washington sitting in that wildcard spot with a -40 goal diff is just embarrassing.

    First... no gripes here. We had entirely winnable games this year that we lost. That's on us. Had we beaten the Coyotes? Overcome the thrown stick against the Kraken? Beat the Sharks at home? We're in. We didn''t win those games. We're playing meaningful hockey in April, and that matters a lot for these kids.
    Second... Arizona. As someone who watched their 1b team, the Thrashers, leave Atlanta, I'm devastated for those fans. I never missed a Wings game here, and for as long as I'm still in Atlanta, I'll never miss a Wings game when the league returns (rest assured, it's happening, only a matter of time).

    I would say it’s not the fandom point of view of being disappointed if playoffs don’t happen, but it’s HOW it didn’t happen if it doesn’t.
    At the start of the year if you said they’d still have a chance to make it at game 79, we would all be excited. But it’s because th way we comfortably in, and as soon as Larkin got injured, they couldn’t scrape points together. There’s expectations when you have an 8 point cushion, there aren’t big expectations if this race was happening from a season long fight, vs a 7 game collapse

    Edvinsson is underrated still imo. He has everything you could want in a player package. Bring up Matt luff, ace in the hole.

    On the pp they use to try and set up DeBrincat for the one-timer. They seem to go away from that strategy.
    I also read a lot of comments about this team being better than last years team. They are, but Yzerman spent almost 30 million on free agents, and it looks like that is only going to make a six to eight point difference. That's not good enough, and now there are some bad contracts to deal with. I really wish they had gone with the young guys instead of bringing in so many free agents.

    The problem with the Red Wings is that near the end of the season they were expected to play a defensive game when it’s not in their D N A. In the end it really doesn’t matter because in the playoffs defensive hockey wins games.They would get crushed playing the way they played the first half of the season.

  • @-Nv-94

    They didn’t get goalied. He saw everything from a mile out. The entire team was boxed out and played on the boards until the last second. Then we score. Coaches fault not to be able to get his players to adjust. While they were “out playing” the caps. It still should’ve been 0-2 caps lol. Two of the bar. While wings had weak shots from a far.

    After the first period should’ve put sprong on the 3rd or even 2nd line. He may suck defensively put he WANTS TO SCORE. Why do these coaches make the most insignificant adjustments ever, every time. Or even none lol. Why am I seeing players like czarnik and fisher getting our most prime scoring chances in a must win game. Literally they both had the best slot chances of every player during this game and they blew it. Great lines La L

    Totally disagree on Arizona losing the team and getting first shot at an expansion when they get their act together. Cities that lose teams for WHATEVER reason shouldn't automatically be put back into the queue. I'm in Houston, and we HAVE an NHL ready arena (soon) and a huge population base. If dallas can prosper with a team we can do every bit as well. Arizona had its chance and is blowing it. And BTW, #LGRW

    I'd be a lot more excited about the "still playing meaningful games in april" if we'd been .500 for the first half of the season, but had gone like 30-6-8 to claw our way back into a playoff chance. As it is? I can't be excited about this. The last half of the season has just felt like Detroit constantly pissing away every opportunity they got to make the playoffs and repeating the same mistakes over and over without learning from them. I'm tired, boss. Whatever happens, happens. But I'm done letting this team hurt me by tricking me into believing in them.

      Consider this - what I have done for the past couple weeks - imagine what this season would be like if Kane had not come (that was unexpected and certainly unexpected how he could play & Having Alex Lyon and the way he played ) think about what this season would be like without those two - which were completely unexpected when the season started - that is scary bad

    Typical results for a team that never won the draft lottery. No league elite forward to take over a game.
    They are not going to win the lottery anytime soon, and have to build another way for many more years, if ever successful.

    I don’t understand the rule that you can’t review it because he isn’t injured. What does that have to do with getting the call correct?
    His stick hit him in the face clearly, 2 minute penalty regardless of an injury or a review.
    What are we doing?

    I resent the Caps. Not because they beat us twice to prevent our playoff push, but that they are an objectively crappy team that literally wins with luck and Ovey scoring randomly. I’ve had it with Debrincat….the dude doesn’t have a single strong suit in his repertoire. The month of March will forever remind me of this bullshit season. Can anyone tell me how we pulled two power plays spending most of the game in the Capitals zone? Seems like BS to me.

    26:00 It's like they're playing not to lose with the ZAR decision. Playing to win would be Kasper. Playing not to lose gives you no umph if you end up needing it.

      @user-rw9rs6di9n Před 21 dnem

      @@patrickgaughan1199 I don’t think we have to default to being so risk averse all the time. A lot of guys have a lot of NHL experience sure, but many have experience that they aren’t anything super special. I wouldn’t be opposed to bringing some rookies in that we project will be important to our core. Get them reps and maybe they surprise. We usually play guys that are nothing special and then I get pissed when the safe guy without upside gets more rope to keep making mistakes.

  • @chrismills8255
    @chrismills8255 Před 22 dny +2

    Yzerman’s vets fail again, rinse and repeat. With the addition of Kane, the expectations this season should be playoffs. I don’t expect any changes but there should be. Team has won 4 times in last 19 games when it finally mattered. Yzerman is vastly overrated and the team he’s built is extremely flawed, and he’s taken five years to build it, lol. If Stevie hadn’t inherited Stamkos and Hedman, he wouldn’t be coasting on his TB rep, he’s not a good GM.

    • @user-sw3ki2kk9s
      @user-sw3ki2kk9s Před 22 dny +3

      I agree with everything you said except Yzerman not being a good GM. We have improved and this is not an easy job. You’re in a division with 4 teams clearly better than us because as you said, they have superstars. We don’t. They don’t grow on trees. The process is slow but perhaps Raymond and Seider can become that. We have a lot of good players but we need that dominant player like Matthew’s or Pasternak.

  • @-Nv-94

    Someone with some power tell Seider to work on his edges non stop in the offseason. It’s pathetic at this point. Been watching Wings hockey for 29 years and I’ve never seen a d man fall over while getting blown by a dude to allow a goal so much. It’s happened almost 20 times during this season. He’s lost all confidence. He doesn’t know which way to go or pass. Left, right, up down he’s second guessing everything! He’s suppose to be our 1-2D like that isn’t it!

    This team needs a superstar ow two! Larkin is the only star in his prime and that’s streching it. He’s elite not a star. Kane is way past his prime. Nothing to build long term. I don’t see a single superstar in this system besides the Russian who won’t come play here. Nothing but overrated Larkins in this system. Nothing but a 2-3c and that’s even a big maybe at this point.
