It's funny when I first began to get interested in this hobby, I didn't think about corals. I was thinking about all of the different fishes and invertebrates there are. But now I find that corals are just as interesting.

#1 easiest imo is xenia then gsp. Xenia is bullet proof. Gsp grows on anything, anywhere any light and even grew upside down on my water surface : )
Zoas are hard to kill but soometimes hard to please as well.

I do want to point out that while zoanthids are super hardy, they can be awfully cranky getting them to open up and stay open, and with so many different species of zoas, they can have quite varying requirements in term of lighting and flow.

Looking into getting into the hobby and researching a lot prior to investing into it. I keep hearing you saying each corals lighting needs. Is this based positioning or the lighting fixture itself. I was looking at getting a AI prime due to its price point compared to other lights. Also cant decide on 20gal or 40gal to start. Thanks for all the great info!

It's not really a Coral, but an honorable mention should be Discosoma Corallimorphs. They are the easiest thing to keep I've ever found and the beauty of them is they're similar to Ricordia in that there are so many different morphs and colors to really brighten your tank with. I've started stocking a Pico tank recently with them because there is just so much variety.

surprised acans arent on here! I love the green stemed tall branching duncans! I have recently bought several single head hoping they will grow in a tall branching from but they want to grow horizontally! I got lucky with unique coarls, they sent meone that was about 7 heads tall until it stated to branch and it died in a tank crash. Do you know if there is anyway to make them grow like that or just luck of the draw? Perhaps If I could find one that cam off a mother colony that grew like that but none of my lfs seem to know and even ebay sellers i have asked dont know or dont have any! I would pay triple its worth just to get one back! It was the prettiest coral in my tank by far! Have you ever seen a purple star polyp placed and let grow on back like people do the gsp? I dont like gsp like that but nothing prettier than doing same thing with purple! The purple blends into back of glass and you cant really see it, what you do see is the neon tiny green centers everywhere like twinkling neon lights! Its gorgeous! I saw a LFS do it on a rock and got the idea because it looked so cool but wouldnt want to waste all the space on a rock that I could put coral on!
