I actually met the guy who played Tim on a zoom call, Joe Mazzello, he mentioned that the velociraptor kitchen sequence was shot on his birthday and the one raptor on wheels knocked him in the head with its claw. Right after checking he was ok, Spielberg got everyone to sing happy birthday. Love that even years later the cast is clearly proud of the work they did on this film ❤️

Man I always felt so bad for Hammond at the end of this film. He looks so genuinely heartbroken as he takes one last look at his island. His idea was really neat but Ned just had to go fuck everything up. I guess if the park did open though, the bullshit that went down in the first Jurassic world movie woulda eventually happened, but prolly in the early 2000s or even late 90s instead of 2015. Greed is always a part of human nature regardless of when you are.
That's the main difference between the book and the movie, movie Hammond is a greedy dude but he at least care's for human life, book Hammond is just a menace
@@thegobblereditor and got bodied, got what he deserved, the boom Hammond
With the eggs that Grant found in the jungle it was evidence that no matter what happened, Jurassic Park was doomed from the start. In the novel dinos already made it to the mainland, that's what caused Hammond to need to get approval from some guests (i.e Malcolm, Grant, Ellie) and endorse it to put investors at ease. Even if Nedry was even more devoted than Hammond and worshipped park security and his job, Jurassic Park would never have lasted more than a couple weeks if opened to the public.
Well actually the Raptor's escape was on Hammond for pushing on resetting the systems as the first thing they checked when they found out Dennis messed up the systems was the Raptor pens which was still working. Even Muddoon commented when ne saw that the Raptors escaped that Dennis wasn't stupid enough to shut down the electricity to the raptor pen.
Me too
Fun Fact: Richard Attenborough (who plays John Hammond) was brother to David Attenborough, the British guy who narrates all of those nature documentaries.
And recentl, David Attenborough narrated the dinosaur documentary Prehistoric Planet.

Justin Y. You became a Legend
How'd you become so...... _Famous_
Does anyone else feel like the cgi has aged very well. Seriously the t-Rex bursting out of the cage looks way better then the dinos in the newer versions
That is probably because of the use of animatronics in addition to cgi. It tricks te brain as to make it unable to clock when something is cgi and when it isn’t, giving a more realistic illusion.
I hate when people say "does anyone else feels like" then say some totally popular opinion.....
Unlike the CGI in the first Power Rangers movie, even though they CLAIM they had the best software available at the time.
@@Marigumilikesartthe weirdest thing about that is HOW does the switch between the animatronic and CGI work so well even though if you actually look at the model for the CGI T-Rex and the animatronic they don't actually look the same their eyes, eyebrow ridges, and head widths are different and yet I've never noticed this until someone pointed it out with side by side photos

I love how Muldoon dying perfectly mirrors what Grant tells the kid in the opening. He sees one raptor and takes aim. But that’s when the attack comes, not from the front, but from the side🔥

Fun Fact: During the shooting for the T. Rex breakout scene, the water from the rain effects accidentally soaked into the mechanisms of the animatronic for the Rex, which would cause it to move more erratically than it was supposed to. Initially, it was never intended to actually break through the roof of the car. So when Lex and Tim were pinned against the car seats with only a few inches of glass between them and one of the biggest animatronics in film history? Pure, genuine screams of terror.
Yet somehow the glass breakong is in the storyboard and in the script... People keep repeating this lie without actually checking
Holy shit I never realized that the belt buckles were meant to represent the female dinosaurs finding a way to breed 🤯
Me either, I just thought it was a funny gag.
Me: *laughs in Jurassic Park super fan*
holy fuck i never thought of that
I didn't know that either 😲
What the i never knew that until you point it out
10:00 Fun fact, in the novel this was actually explained. One of the many defects caused by the frog DNA was poor eyesight similar to an amphibian, rather than a predatory reptile.
Grant didn't realize the tyrannosaurus was myopic until he was out of the car and froze due to terror, realizing after the t-rex started sniffing around and nudging the car, that she could tell there was someone there but was unable to locate him as long as he was motionless. Grant identifies the reason due to his knowledge of biology.
This gets subverted in The Lost World, where everyone assumes the dinosaurs are blind but discover successive generations of unchecked breeding not only eradicated several defects and made their DNA more "pure", but produced other mutations as well, such as adaptive camouflage.
Edit: Other fun facts: in book the adult was paired with a juvenile to keep her company and it was the baby that killed the driver, and the dilophosaurus was an enormous 8-feet tall and ripped Nedry's guts out while he was still alive.
I Am The One Who Knocks James is an alright guy. So what if he doesn't know everything, man?
@I Am The One Who Knocks Wdym, finally someone who pays attention? He did pay attention, it was never covered in the movie itself. I never even knew there were novels to begin with. You don't research to something you don't even know exists.
So many succesful movies have lesser known novels. Novels and movies are very different. Movies are all about being visually pleasing (usually), whilst novels are about your own imagination and as such don't rely on that.
So give him some slack, in the context of the movie it is not explained.
@I Am The One Who Knocks "I pitty people who belive anything they see on the internet" what does that even have to do with someone not being aware of an obscure fact in a book that he's not even reviewing? James isn't reviewing the book,he's reviewing the movie, who cares if he didn't know about vision based on moment bit?
@I Am The One Who Knocks wtf who researces a movie, ur able to watch and like a movie without knowing every single detail about the history of it.
He's the one who knocks guys he's all knowing.
This is one of the oldest Kill Counts, but after everything I've been through today, I just want to thank James for being my comfort CZcamsr, and actually living up to that in real life as well. Thank you, Dead Meat, from the bottom of my heart.
Point of interest - early in the film Genarro asks the head miner where is Hammond and he replies 'he wanted to be with his daughter she's getting a divorce' - the daughter is Tim and Lex's mother, which makes the 'he left us' line hit all the deeper...
The sound effect when Nedry slipped and fell down the water slide was hilarious 😂
Especially the sound effects slip 😂😂

Fun fact: The scene where Grant and kids found the nest of broken eggs, they filmed that shot at the Kauai Botanical Gardens.
Bonus: The scene where Grant and the kids ran into the gallimimuses was filmed in an area of Kipu Ranch (also located on Kauai).
Gallimimus is the correct spelling btw

Damn right, he is blinded and gets his intestines ripped out.
I loved it :D
In jurassic park the game he has his head ripped off and was eaten only on the isnide
Newman died horribly.
Technically, when it comes to Allan and Ellie's "relationship" in the movie, this was just an idea of Spielberg to improve the rivalry and discomfort of Grant towards Malcolm. In the novel, it is well established that Allan and Ellie are just good friends at work
It's kinda sweet that Malcolm backed off when Grant got defensive when he asked if she was single.
Haha Dominion go Brrrrr
Until Dominion finally woke them up.
Fr just read the novel, Ellie is his student and is going to marry someone in Chicago
Plus, in the book there’s about a 20 year age gap between them
This and the Hunt For Red October are my go-to examples of a movie being very different from the book, and yet both being absolutely fantastic.
They both do their own thing very well
The book is a gory horror about the dangers of greed, while the movie is an exciting thriller about meddling with nature
@@normalhuman9878I wouldn't say the book is about greed, more aptly,it's about the dangers of genetic bonding and how big corporations will try to capitalize on science without any precautions
@@normalhuman9878I eould still call the movie a horror. Its not out right terrifying like other horror movies but if you tell me that the water rippling and raptors in the kitchen sequence dont build tension like a horror movie then I dont know what to tell you. Since then, I’ve seen it obsessively for years and too many times to count. And yet, I watch your review and learn things I’ve never ever realized before. I’ve studied this film my entire life and learned new things about it from your video. Thank you.
Funny you said that about the toilet, I’ve always remembered the arm. The whole movie terrified me as a kid and I haven’t revisited it, but the arm definitely was what I associated with Jurassic Park!
10:04 funny enough some types of frog, and toads can only properly see moving objects, so the Rex in the film could have been slightly effected by the genetic tampering.
That’s the reason that the T. rex could only see movement in the book
Yeah, they explained that in the book, so your theory was proven correct before the movie even came out XD
It works better in the book too because Grant discovers this fact by accident. He freezes in fear and realises that Rexy can't see him. Was always a little silly to me that he knew this beforehand in the film because it's not something you could discern from looking at bones.
This frog DNA thing was also the reason the Raptors don't have feathers and aren't turkey size because the frog DNA made them look more Reptilian

I mean yeah, wouldn't you be?
Fun Fact: When the Rexy smashed the window on the top of the ford explorer that had Tim and Lex, it wasn't meant to happen. So the screams they had were genuine and not acting. It was because the rain kept making the animatronic T. Rex shake uncontrollably
The glass breaking in was supposed to happen the glass breaking a huge chunk wasn't meant to happen
@@richardperaza5083 Actually no. Even the cast of the movie said it wasn't meant to even cave in like that at all
@@meptim Can I have a link to that video please.
@@OG.Trippster I’m afraid Richard was right, the T-Rex was supposed to push into the glass panel, however; there’s a chunk of glass that breaks off that you can see in the shot. That was not intended to happen. The Rex pushing the glass down was even in the storyboard for the movie, and the camera angles even suggest it was definitely an intentional shot.
Oh God! Well sure it made the movie look good but still!
I love how in the novel the t-rex literally chases them through a river, through the entire park, and its so terrifying. If a 66 million year old predator chases you, your probably gonna be dead soon.
So fun story, around the time Fallen Kingdom came out, there was a promo event at a mall near me. I was walking along, head in my book, when I heard a really familiar sound and kind of instinctively made my way towards it. Turns out the sound was Rexy's roar, and I almost walked into the massive animatronic before realizing what it was lol.

Awww, that's sad....
I don't think you needed to justify it as a horror movie, yes it broadly fits into adventure but if movies like The Birds, Lake Placid, Jaws count as horror there is really little difference.
Hell you could even argue that the cup of water scene and raptors in the kitchen scene are just as suspenseful as anything in Jaws.

I'm imagining Arnold's chase and death scene and I'm just picturing Samuel L. Jackson cursing and fighting off veliciraptors with his bare hands. That would be beyond awesome to watch. Also, anybody else realize that the food Tim and Lex are eating at the end of the movie has most likely been sitting out for a whole day? The “welcome to Jurassic Park” shot was actually shot on my home island, Kauai, (West side best side, go Waimea, Seniors 2022!) and my close friends dad is a helicopter mechanic, and he was one of the drivers of the Jeep’s!
I've never understood the disagreement over whether or not Jurassic Park films are horror. I'd consider them just as much a horror movie as any other "monster" movie -- Alien, Jaws, or even The Mist.
I think the Alien comparison is most apt, since really just the first of those series feels "horror" (although I guess a case could be made for Alien3 and Fallen Kingdom).

There is no moat between the goat and the fence and the t Rex got the goat then and is rubbing on the fence to test it then walks through. There was a large enough tree to catch the jeep, and there was no walking space between the wall and this tree, so that goat that was released obviously on even ground and less than 30 feet from the wall, the drop never existed originally but was added later as a mistake. if there was a moat it would be past the tree. With how large that tree was, the most would at least be 30 feet away from the wall.
10:21 'mmmmm rubber' i fell off my bed lol
Search up Homer Simpson mmm doughnut
They sound so similar
The fact that JP came out in 1993... NINETEEN FUCKING NINETY THREE... and the special effects still hold up is simply amazing. This movie is something special, beyond great, beyond iconic. It hardly seems possible that they accomplished what they did even compared to most movies that come out almost 30 years later.
I love how excited James is

F-YEAH DINOSAURS!!
I never realized just how many iconic scenes are in this movie.
this movie is amazing for being made in the 90s, it's crazy how well made it is!
Yeah 💯 Jurassic Park Amazing movie 🤩 remember that Awsome restroom scene where the really mean old lawyer guy selfishly abbonond those poor kids! He thinks he's hidden sitting on the toilet 😥 and Rexy She found him anyway lol bite him up and Shaking him around like a fun Dogy chew toy before Eating him up its actually kinda funny looking wouldn't you agree with me?
Love the dark morality of the JP films. You're entitled to two heroic deaths per film (Muldoon, Arnold, Eddie etc) every other main character who dies seems to deserve it somehow.
"Jurassic Park isn't a horror movie."
- person who wants to be eaten by dinosaurs
In comparison to movies like Alien or Predator? Yeah, not really a horror movie.
@@maximaldinotrap but God damn is it *GOOD*
@@maximaldinotrap it is pretty much like a horror movie if you ask me
It’s a monster film with bloody kills so it counts
13:29 so are we not going to acknowledge the amount of skill it takes for James to match up this narration with the lips of the character? i know it's supposed to be a joke but THAT SHIT'S IMPRESSIVE, DUDE!
same here James. I've been obsessed with this franchise my whole life. I'm looking forward to see all these films on the kill count.
4:54 the same applies to me just with Inglourious Basterds and the way Aldo Raine pronounces the word Nazi
Fun fact: Nedrys creepy ass laugh sounds like the Dilophosaurus cry
It sure as hell does. I completely forgot about that.

Duuude best kill is easily the Raptor scene - 'Clevah girl'
That was awesomely strategic
Raptors were very smart creatures
Miranda Vitela have you ever met one? or do the bones tell you how smart they were lol
"Professional yeller Samuel L Jackson" lol
i love how energetic James is in this kill count really shows how much he loves the franchise.
Man, this brings me back. I remember when I was wee little, in 2011, I was a *HUGE* dinosaur fan, and my mom showed me this iconic film, and I fell in love with it, to where Jurassic Park competes with The Dark Knight as my favorite movie of all time.
09:55, actually, the " vision based on movement", it's not actually " made up". In the novel, Alan Grant discovers that the Rexy had a poor eyesight, due to they used frog DNA to fill the gasps.
I mean, Rexys vision problems are due to she is a mutant clone.
However, the movie told it as if it were something that real T-REXES suffered from.
THANK YOU someone else who read the book!
Actually the T Rex could see people when they weren’t moving in the books, specifically when one killed Baselton in The Lost World by Michael Crichton because he stood still and thought they couldn’t see him
I'm currently reading the first novel and will go to the 2nd one once in done but I do remember that part of the book since I passed it
18:15 I can feel the excitement through my screen lol. That roar was awesome though.
What makes the Triceratops scene so emotional (you tear up watching it I don't care who you are) is that they put tears in the eyes, so that you see her crying...
Growing up as a kid, I was obsessed with dinosaurs. Everything I owned was dinosaur themed. I had toys, blankets, pillow cases, lamps, everything and when I first saw Jurassic Park, I immediately fell in love with it. I didn’t get scared at all because I was zoned in and amazed at how real the dinos looked that I even thought they were real at one point. This movie will forever hold a special place in my heart and no matter how many times I watch it, I get more and more amazed by the special effects and CGI they used.

That t-rex victory roar is one of the coolest things I've herd in a while.
Ya
I’ve just started watching The Kill Count and so far this is my favorite one… this is absolutely hilarious! James, you rock!!
Fun to see James get so excited about this movie. Jurassic Park is actually my favorite movie of all time so I can truly appreciate James' energy here. I saw it multiple times in the theatre as a kid (We had a dollar theatre down the street from our house, where I saw it probably 4 times) and I've seen it probably at least a hundred times since. I was a big lover of dino's when I was young so this movie just spoke to me and as an adult I learned to truly appreciate everything else such as the music, special effects, character moments, etc. It's such a masterpiece and I never get tired of watching it. Thanks for making this Kill Count!
