I love that EC Henry fighter, it looks so cool. Such a wasted opportunity for cool new ships in the sequels.
He didn't create it, he just made it look much more like it belonged in the SW universe. I like his version much more than the model Porsche designed.
agreed. EC Henry's take is a much better designed ship and I wish Allen showcased that version, but since Lucas film actually collaborated with Porsche on the design, guess this version is actually canon and had to be used in the video.
A shame the Rebel Assault Frigates (modified from Republic Dreadnoughts) weren't seen in the movies or shows, though mk1s and Mk2s were seen in video games. Yet they were basically gunships and little to no fighter compliments unless heavily modified. Please comment if I missed them.
Yeah they were cool, made sense to refit a reliable cheap ship like that en masse to serve as sorta the main offensive capital ship fire paired with the defensive Mon Cal ships.
These shiny (clone humour)new Cruiser Sized Ships we see in Ashoka are a Canon Replacement version of the 4 Assault frigates definitely , You can clearly see these in place of assault frigates when Thrawn very first space battle Victory in the Thrawn trilogy books
Who can forget the Starhawk class battleship on the big screen - besides apparently Disney.....?
Please that ship existed and was described pre Disney. kennedy needs to erase everything that pre dates her so she can pretend to be a creative. At least we got an epic star hawk scene in a video game.
If you don’t like how Disney is handling Star Wars, you’re free to never watch another piece of Disney Star Wars content again. Wasn’t sure if you knew that option.

Why would there be a Starhawk in any of the fleets we’ve seen so far for any reason other than fan service? Those are the big guns of the New Republic and are fairly rare I assume. No need for one in a prisoner transport especially with Home One already present
I'll just say it, the Pegasus fighter is a beauty to look at. And probably plenty deadly as well.
It doesn’t really look like a Star Wars ship to me, but EC Henry does have a good redesign for it
Shout out to all the unsung sector task force fleets cleaning up remnant / first order trash. I hope that in post sequel material we get a mention of (reformed) new republic being more like High Republic, with coalition fleets
It's no surprise to see blockade runners still be a part of the New Republic fleet, cos they're probably serving the same role they did pre-rebellion, now with the added knowledge of what they're capable of when the shit hits the fan.
Some of the smaller ships seen in The Last Jedi are also ex-New Republic. I find the Free Virgilia-class Bunker Buster particularly interesting. It's a ship specialized in orbital bombardment, which makes sense since probably most Imperial Remnant forces the post-disarmament New Republic fleet would be legally allowed to fight would be planet-bound marauders and warlords without much of a presence in space.
The fact that Mon Mothma failed to see that having the military is not the only reason why Palpatine risen to become a dictator is beyond my understanding.
I've also been a bit of a scholar when it comes to Star Wars vehicles and I have to say the Empire did make some good ships although rarely used them but so did the Jedi Republic and the New Republic. My favourite is the Nebula Class Star destroyer which was New Republic through and through and was created near the end of the Civil War to Combat ISD2s. And they were good at it. While going through my usual fantasy of "What worlds would I want to govern with what fleets?" these Nebula Star destroyers became my Fleet Vanguards. While the Fleet in back released a swarm of Starfighters from Venators, These Nebulas had the Armour and weapons to take them all into battle and tank hits while dishing out a lot of firepower while my other 7 ships stayed behind and provided long range covering fire while Acclamators rushed through with the Nebulas to land Ground Forces. But that aside, I am more interested to learn more about this latest new Republic carrier. 4 Squadrons of X-Wings and Y-Wings and other good Hyperdrive equipped fighter isn't a match for a venator but it would still be an effective Anti Piracy Ship to patrol with. I just wish we had way more details about it such as shield strength, hull strength, weapons, point defense, Hyperdrive speed, regular Speed, In Atmosphere Speed, If it can land or needs a space dock etc etc. Because if done right then aside from the obvious glaring weakness in the thin strip in the middle of the ship, this could be one of the best New Republic vessels ever and one of the smartest. While not a direct match for Imperial remnant Star Destroyers it could just get in, with a few others, release their fighters, perhaps launch a few Ion cannon Shots and then jump away until the Star Destroyer is disabled or dead. Although this de-armament bill is a bit of a problem for weapons, the more humane and less destructive Mag pulse Weapons could be useful in place of the more damaging Ion cannons which would often fuse electrics and force heavy repairs to fix. But hey, when in doubt, Mandolorians can always bring in more firepower. Offer to help rebuild Mandalore and they might design the New Republic a few Hyper Lethal Ships to sell to them
The Tri Wing was designed by Porsche. But I want to highly recommend EC Henry’s video on it. In his opinion it didn’t look like a Star Wars ship. Something can agree with. It looks cool but more like a typical Sci Fi ship. So he redesigned it to better capture the Star Wars aesthetic. Imo he did a fantastic job that looks way better than the Porsche one and feels like Star Wras. It’s worth checking it out.
Great video as always btw 👌
I think it works very well as a star wars ship with a different paint job. White paint with a primary colour highlights, make it less shiny and it will fit in with any other Alliance/NR fighter
I wonder if a Starhawk could drag Imperial ships into each other? There are so many potential applications for a weapon like that, and I wish Disney showed it off more.
Believe it can & has been done but can’t recall in what media
So they standardised the Lightmaker maneuver in rogue 1
@@fakezombeyywhy hit 'em with missiles when you can throw their own ships at them
- probably the new republic
@@Zeb0101 let's be honest a battleship slapping Star Destroyers around like action figures is metal as hell
That could been part of how they used them. Especially battles like Jakku. Have 2 or 3 fire them tractors even on a huge resurgence SD an go hard in opposite directions an with tractor beams THAT strong you could possibly rip even a huge dreadnaught apart.. or least drag them around an immobilize them while everyone else pummels them into oblivion or submission
i still think the GAR had the best navy for a republic with a mix of Venators, Acclamators and Arquintens along with the pelta class, the combination of these ships with the modern X wings would make a perfect republic fleet
Agreed, although I think the pelta is better as a medical frigate for ground forces (since it can land) wheras the nebulon-b is a better naval medical ship since it can carry more facilities.
Clearly you meant CIS
CIS had a terrible navy also droids bad@@alecatnight1540
Also add the Star destroyer Ancestors , Victory and the Imperator and tector
I always liked that Pegasus Tri-Wing. I thought that if you painted it cobalt blue, put some cop lights on it and added restraints to the back seats it would make a good Police Squad. Maybe for the Rangers.
That bomber was a huge mistake. It was Rian Jo's desire to do a WW2 style B-17 bombing runs, though what he failed to realize exactly ineffective the B-17s were against naval targets. Torpedo and dive bombers were far more effective against naval ships.
Not to mention he forgot to realize that they suffered horrific losses against land targets.
@@luisemoralesfalcon4716 granted those severe losses were before the generals got the sense to make fighter platforms capable of actually escorting the bombers and another thing entirely to get the pilots to learn to stay with the bombers instead of going all cowboy and chasing the first bandit they saw
While it did look awesome onscreen, it was such a stupid design and made them easy targets for those TIEs
@@keeganfox1864 now that is also true, very true.
@@keeganfox1864 Also a fair point as well.
Love this.
Particularly the subtle shade thrown at the Rian Johnson bomber garbage
At 4:00 minutes into the first episode of Asoka in the background there is a A-wing in all its glory 😂
I wish they had some MC30Cs, DP20s, and Nebulon-Cs in the show. It would be interesting to see a fully armed standard Nebulon-C in a fight given that the reduced armament medical variant was one of the most heavily armed ships in the Resistance fleet in the ST. Plus it would be an IMO nice call back to Episode VI where one of the few close quarters capital ship combats we got look at was a Nebulon-B trading fire with a Star Destroyer
I have really enjoyed the ships presented in Ashoka particularly the Vesper and E wings.
Fantastic video ❤
I agree with you Alan, I love the Starships and vehicles and all that mechanical stuff.
But you missed the best part of the MC80! It had pools designed around the needs of the Mon Calamari's need to be semi aquatic in space!
If the Starhawk made it into this list (which don't get me wrong I'm glad it did), then you may have wanted to mention the MC-95 since it shows up in both the Ride of rhe Resistance ride and in the background fleet in Episode 9. I always wished we got more info on that class.
EC Henry did a revamp for the B-Wing. Making it into a long range patrol ship. Utilizing 3 crew members. Incorporating a living quarters in it as well. I would love to see SW bring that into world. Plus EC Henry is just awesome with what he is able to accomplish with his collaborators with these vessels.
I watched this entire video. My allegiance is to Generation Tech.
My favorite starfighter is probably the mandalorian fang fighter
Love the Tri-Wing
man i hope we see that starhawk in ahsoka
would love to see more videos on New republic military!
Oooh, never seen the Tri-Wing Pegasus before... I like it. Thanks for this type of video, it's one of my main interest areas of Star Wars.
So what happened to the B-Wings? They reappear in Rise Of Skywalker, but they don't seem to have any special tactical effectiveness and get taken out by single stray shots. Maybe it was borderline impossible to keep a B-Wing running at full armament so we saw a few stray leftovers whose owners hoped to never go into combat.
It was one of those pieces of equipment that was there because they need equipment, any equipment, would do. The B wing was interesting but impractical as only the best, most trained pilots can make use of its unorthodox cockpit design and flight pattern. It probably got phased out when the new republic can supply enough fighters in general and the B wing got axed because it does not fit the doctrine and is too temperamental to deal with.
@@eddapultstab2078which is a shame. The B-Wing is such an amazing heavy bomber imo. Especially the flight patterns it could do with it's cockpit seems like a it would give them a much better time making a bombing run while in contested space then the heavy and slow Y-Wings with just theire Ion turret on the back. While the Y-Wing was pretty sturdy the B-Wing was a mf to hit while both had good shielding for a Starfighter. I would prefer an squadron of B-Wings with escord over a squadron of Y-Wings with escord anytime of the day
Random: the coverart kinda reminded me of a fighter from an older show, “Space Above and Beyond” Hammerheads!
Tried searching to see if y’all ever did an episode on it, but SW Hammerheads just kept popping up. Anyways, probably dating myself but thought I’d throw it out there as soon as seeing the episode’s coverart. Long time fan, yalls feed is kickass, thanks for all your great posts! Cheers
While I think the NR being incompetent wasn’t that well executed with context of what happens to them in the sequels I am liking the themes their exploring with the concept in Mando and Ahsoka. For me its like if America post revolution didn’t learn that their extreme limited government lifestyle isn’t sustainable and that balance is needed.
Actually, it is the best. If we can live up to it. The Constitution is the backbone, of course. But it takes an involved populace, a moral populace.
Op was referring to articles of confederation
@@alecatnight1540 they referenced America, hence my comment sooo...
@@leetimberman8860 and not a populace carefully trained and guided by media controlled by the authoritarian ultra-rich.
@@leetimberman8860 As much as I love the idea behind such a lax government, the truth is, it leaves a vacuum. Bacon's Rebellion was a key moment in US history, because it showed us that no matter how much the whole might be on board, you always have to contend with outliers with malicious (or in this case, radical libertarian) intent.
Moderation is the key. Not too much government, not too little. You just need a system adequate for the job.
Every time I think about the new Republic Navy, I always end up coming to the conclusion that if they had an Infinity looking rectangular ship, they could post one in every system, then launch corvettes for screening and patrol purposes. It would carry several hundred fighters for long range patrols and defense, and the entire ship would essentially be a mobile command/barracks/refueling ship for the system it's stationed in.
This raises a question for me, did the MC85 and MC95 Star Cruisers exist at the time of Ahsoka/The Mandalorian or were they created later?
They might have been made later, but I'd like to see woke mc85s, T-70 or 85 x-wings and all the standardized star fighters they also have now like the upgrades A,B, and Y wings we see a but of in the rise of skywalker
Being created later would make more sense, but I wouldn't be surprised if they just show up. Canon has a big problem with realistic time scales, what's with Empire falling in one year and making NR incompetent from the start instead of slowly eroding its influence by First Order infiltration.
Think according to at LEAST EU sources, if not Canonically, the newer MCs first started coming out either around the end of the Civil War or a little after. But they was only bout a handful at first round such times
The MC85 definitely did, around Jakku.
The MC95, it's not sure. Besides a semi unintended cameo, in the Squadrons trailer (maybe standing in, for an MC80)
What I really would like to see is the New Class Modernization Program, in particular the Nebula Class Star Destroyers and Endurance Class Fleet Carriers. I know they don't come onto the scene until much later, like around 15 ABY, but they are still the coolest models the New Republic ever fielded.
I am one to believe that the NR defence fleet is bigger than people want to give credit for, hell it’s bigger than the whole alliance fleet by endor’s time, and ofc is very robust and able to respond to problems and emergencies quickly (if politicians aren’t being a pain in the ass) tho I think the mc 85 did have a handful more weapons than what we see in the data books and cross-sections, as the one we see was being decommissioned and sold for scrap by that time which prolly lead to half its weapons being removed.
I do imagine anything similar in size to the older mc 80’s such as the 95 line prolly had similar weapons numbers to their preceding mc 80 line whilst building more upon the phenomenal shielding of the 85’s.
Outside of bases and local defence forces affiliated with the NR, the core republic forces would’ve had around 200 odd capital ships alongside at least several supporting ships per cap ship (with some room for variance). still that’s a decent force despite not being in the multi thousands of cap ships like the clone wars republic or the tens of thousands of an empire. alongside some sizeable stations with a handful of squadrons under its command, hyper lanes and boarders would be patrolled decently with a sizeable force to respond to sizeable threats being nearby.
You’ve never read the legends did you , Heard of the Mighty New Republic FIFTH FLEET ,The fighting fifth , With a Core of 500 main line Capitalships from Nebula class pocket star destroyers , Endurance fleet carriers (3 wings) , MC90 ,Mediator battle cruiser and Super star destroyers too and Advanced New republic ISD with Interdiction wells and Long range turbo lasers . And the best Starfighters X ,Y,A, B, K ,E wings , A roving fleet dedicated to respond to any and every Major Threat to the New republic not Tied to a specific place or system . Truly majestic

I want to know more about this "Tri-wing s91 X Pegasus"
But what about the MC95?
We saw the ship in a trailer for Star Wars Squadrons.
10:51 I know there's a writers strike on but didn't think that it extended to Stars Wars ship design. This is like somebody attempted to make a Buck Rogers "Thunderfighter" with Kerbal Space Program
Yo that Tri-Wing S91-X Pegasus ship is beautiful.
The Mandalorian season 1 takes place four years after the Galactic Civil War ended. Ahsoka actually takes place two years later, in 11 ABY.
I thought season 1 was 9 years after
@@Dakarai_Knight Season 1 is nine years after A New Hope, 9 ABY. The Galactic Civil War ended in 5 ABY.
@@MJJFilms Ohhhh I learned the time by ear I didn't realize it was 9 aby. I misheard.
What happened to the B-wing, that we saw in the original trilogy, and Hera test piloted in Rebels? The B-wing was newer and more advanced than the Y-wing and had a real punch.
B-Wings were also very expensive and complex vessels that were very hard to build, hard to maintain and very hard to fly. They'd probably be cut immediately on cost saving grounds
Where is the Nebula class star destroyer? I feel like the Vesper is a NR version of the Imp Gladiator class.
Looked like a half squadron per hanger on the Vesper to me.
I love the new republic idea and the defense fleet but it was executed so poorly it makes me sooo sadddd
I remember in one of the books that got de-canonized that focused around Luke trying to eliminate the black hole lady whose name I can never remember, the new Jedi Order had made their headquarters aboard an old ISD, so I wonder if any of these ships may have gotten preserved to serve certain roles within the New Republic Fleet? I haven't heard much about it though, something about looking up and seeing the same triangular wedge of death that's oppressed you for so long evidently sending the wrong message. XD
So for a taskforce fleet you probably want the following:
MC-80A or MC-85 Mon Calamari cruiser (probably only need one for command/fleet flagship)
A few Vesper class cruisers (3 should probably be enough) carrying 3 squadrons of X-wings and a single squadron of Y-wings each
As much as I hate it because its one of the single most vulnerable ships I've ever seen in any sci fi setting ever created, you do need escort frigates so I'm incredibly reluctantly putting 4 or 5 Nebulon-B's in here, can be kitted out to carry any fighters you need, if you need more bombers, take more squadrons of Y-wings, if you need more fighters, take more X-wings or A-wings to operate with the CR-90 squadron
4 to 5 CR-90 corvettes (my beloved), can add another full squadron of A-wings to the fleet and can hunt down faster targets if needs be
This kind of fleet would be for basically major engagements, if you only need a small anti-piracy taskforce you can substantially downscale this to like 1 Vesper, 2 Nebulon-B's and like 2 CR-90s
I miss the Ebon Hawk. I'd love to see that thing done in the live stuff somehow.. Maybe a wreck in some lost junkyard?
That Tri-Wing fighter looks like they just added wings to the Earth Defense Directorate Thunderfighter from the 80's Buck Rogers TV show.
The MG-100 needs a retcon, cool ship design that’s laughably bad. It seems like it’s only useful for war crimes against an unprotected target
what about the hammer head corvette we see a few of the in the Ahsoka shpw
The Pegasus starfighter reminds me of the McD F-4 Phantom II. Both are boxy with a ridiculous warload. And it both were fast. (FYI. As ungangly as it looked, the F-4 could push Mach 2.2.)
I would like to see some more clone wars era fighters like the ARC-170 show up. It was really nice to see the Naboo starfighter in the Mandalorian. Realistically speaking, these fighters are not really all that old, considering how slow SW technology seems to progress and the fact that the sequel trilogy does not seem to depict any radically improved technology from the prequel and OT eras.
I would love see a Starhawk.
The New Republic defense fleet kinda feels like the 1907 White Fleet but there really isn’t much to back it up lol. Like it feels like it’s supposed to be a shining success of the NR and a “show of force” when in reality there is intense disfunction in the NR and dismantling of the military.
I hope we see the Starhawk in Filoni's movie, alongside T-70s maybe
So is the MC80b and MC90 no longer canon? Also A-Wings guns could rotate 360 degrees so they could fire behind, above or below them, not sure if thats still canon or not, and if its not canon, that makes me sad.
Don’t wish for something you would dread , They would completely make Nighmarish Star destroyer puzzle piece with a aggressor arrogant Feminist on it Name it MC90 and sacrifice it to thrawn and say we lost our New republic flagship we are doomedth
Funny how he considers the Heavy Bomber to be an extremely small fleet ship. But it makes sense as they are big enough to be targeted by IMC-grade turbo lasers.
10:44 looks kinda like a space Winnebago
Wonder what happened to the MC-30s. Those missile frigates were nasty and could easily hit and run ISD-1s
I think the T-85 X-Wing models reflect the concept Alan is outlining.
It is obviously a more robust, heavier design than the more interceptor/space superiority oriented T-65/70 models.
It was probably designed to be more of a longer-ranged independent "patrol fighter", for keeping the spacelanes open and scouted than a true strikefighter.
My strategy. We don't need battleships, star destroyers, starhawks, or even mc80s or 85s, spend that extra money on starfighters.
1 new republic venator carrier (mon cala and kuat join ship). well shielded, thick hull, mostly point defense weapons, maybe a few long range torpedo tubes and ion cannons. point defense missile emplacements. I'm thinking about the same size as an mc80 liberty. lots of automated crew. focusing on efficiency on on starfighters as firepower.
2 new republic vespers for anti-ship protection and to soak up damage
3 nebulon-bs: 1 anti-starfighter, 1 hospital ship, and 1 anti-ship
2 mc30cs to act like submarines as a torpedo frigate. hit-and-runs
1 CR-90. Frigates are usually better due to crew/cost ratio but I think one to rove around the fleet as an anti starfighter/ bomber role.
1 hammerhead corvette. This is a support ship transport to resupply the fleet and act as a tugboat.
1 gr75 transport to resupply fuel.
I would love a new republic interdictor and some sort of troop transport (like an upgraded acclamator) to be attached as needed.
you can scale this fleet up from here. For instance the fleet from ahsoka is probably the size of 3 of these. Probably making up a quick reaction force for a sector with smaller fleets patrolling locally.
For patrolling I would use an x-wing/ U-wing pair. The U-wing can be equipped with a tractor beam and can carry crew/ passengers/ medical personnel. The x-wing can escort it. Hammerhead corvettes could be a HQ ship for these patrol groups. Something like an arrestor cruiser could also work focusing on being able to capture ships. This is for civillian policing wheras the fleet above can send out fighter patrols through hyperspace. Since it's a military fleet it's not worried about capturing ships.
Pegasus starfighter to me looks more like something coming out of the Japanese space cartoons of the 80's than Star Wars. Love the look.
It looks very Star Citizen like
Thats a big think. How to defend and maintain a galactic sized government. And I thought running a social club meeting was a chore. Those ships all bother me. (was a product designer for a while) The A wing is just too stubby, It's almost there. Just needs to be pulled out by about 30% horizontally and crisped up bit on the fins and curves etc. Not sure if they fixed it in the clone wars, haven't had the chance to see it yet.
These fleet shots remind me of how much better it would be if they were using physical models instead of exclusively digital renders.
The y-wing is the 1911 of star wars. 2-time galactic war champion
id fly an A-Wing, it looks fun
Long Live the Empire!
13 minutes. Yay.
All ships on my mark
I hear the RZ2 Awing pilots stripped off the armour to make their ships just a little faster.
All these years and no marauder class corvette?
What about the most important rebel ship, the GR75
the vesper looks a lot like an mc30
More of a force/lightsaber Star Wars fan but I appreciate you ship nerds.
👍👍
The Starhawks were decommissioned and are being used to tow container ships in all the hyperspace lanes. They were spread out and stripped down but can be modified anytime. I would like to think that most trade ships of the New Republic could be modified in a short time considering 10000 ships appeared out of nowhere in the TLJ.
Well with those tractor beams they actually have alot of non combat utility. Not just starship but asteroids and comets too. A lucky captain can make a mint if that ship is operating in the right place. It actually doesn't make sense why they would decommission the ship when the republic navy was turning into a service and patrol focused. These ships can literal serve sectors moving the above mentioned asteroids and comets and be a literal linchpin in customs operations.

New class program modernisation of the new republic fleet in legends has this new republic cannon fleet, hands down as endurance class carriers, Nebula class star destroyers, e wings fighters and k wings bombers, alongside the other class produced during said program. Gain it much better flexibility and task forces that can go toe to toe with and meet any new emerging threat. Compared to the demilitarised and weakened new republic defence force that was easily curb stomped by the first order in the sequels.
What about the Hammerheads and Bunkerbusters? And B-Wings; the most criminally underused ship in all Star Wars.

Can we just get a movie full of space battles? I just want to see fleet battles.
How effective powerful are E-Wings in the new canon? I remember reading material in some now-Legacy content that basically made E-Wings sounds like ridiculously better starfighters than anything else the New Republic had, essentially the "Mary Sue" of star fighters.
Is there anything in the latest Canon material to suggest their power levels have been toned back down to reality?
Allen have you heard of the CZcamsr EC Henry? He made awesome fan made lore and cool ships for Star 🌟 Wars
What about he B wing?
This video made me think of "Legend of the Galactic Heroes" anime. If you don't know what that is, look it up. It's got the best space battles (not just in anime). Watch the remake to save time.
Yeah those Bombers where so messed up. I have no idea why they would have traded the B-Wing for those things. A squadron of B-wings could take out a ISD. These things could not even make it to the ISD... Also how can we talk about the E-wing and not go over the B-Wing?
Any Respectable Star destroyer captain would turn their ship away from the Sequel Bomber and Go on their own business out of Dignity
So it would seem like the new republic cruiser would seem like a better version of the quasar fire carrier
Nah , Maybe a canon version of the legends Assault frigate Mk2 remember from thrawn trilogy book 1 opening battle
And anyways how a 800 meters shiny () ship with about the same number of fighters and not any main appropriate weapons to its size of warship weapons as we see of , be better than its 300 meter version
@@sumukhvmrsat6347because it's an actual warship. It has a bigger reactor, more weapons, greater speed, better shields, better redundancy. It's better at everything than the Quasar
I just realized, the MC80 being less dagger-shaped than the ISD probably meant it has a greater internal volume.
Since it's shorter, it has less volume, but if they were equal in length, then the MC80 would be slightly bigger
So those bombs in TLJ were guided by magnets? I thought they were just guided by bad plot
I think the new NR cruiser is around 900-1000 metres not 500
