      @@MiTheMerIt’s a bit like taking a transit van and then putting in a V12 in the back. Sure the engine that comes with the van is fine but putting a giant engine in there means you can go a lot faster and they’re traveling over very long distances so the faster you go the less time you’ll be stuck in transit. The SD could likely jump back on its own but that might take years and they might not have the fuel for it

    I love that the Eye of Sion has seven SSD hyperdrives. If you compare the renders of the Ghost from Rogue One/The Rise of Skywalker (like the one currently in the infobox on the Ghost's Wookieepedia article) with shots of the Ghost in Ahsoka and renders of the HasLab Ghost, you can tell that they've reused the same model and just altered/added a few details, like the windows. Things like the "detail trenches" on the sides appear to be identical. This means that the Ahsoka model has lineage back to the model used in Rebels, since they just took the Rebels model and modified it a bit for Rogue One.

      I can see the republic keeping those around. Because its main weapon is a massive tractor beam it has extensive peacetime applications. It can effortlessly move things that would normally need to be pushed around by tugs in a far more complex and high-risk operation. Also, being able to neutralize ships without technically firing a shot looks good for the politicians

      @@squasher0487 Not sure how feasible it is for the writers to bring a Starhawk in considering it'd be more than a match for any ship the Imperial Remnant could muster as a Starhawk is said to be equal to 3/4 ISD's, 2 Allegiance classes, 1.5 Resurgent classes, and in the right hands maybe not equal but more than a match to an SSD. But who knows with Thrawn and maybe later on in the story too.

    • @korylinne2101
      @korylinne2101 Před 8 měsíci +1

      That's usually because the VFX teams working on episodes scale ships more for dramatic effect onscreen than going by how big they were designed to be. The Star Trek and Stargate franchises are notorious for mis-scaling ships because of that.

Older models from Rouge One just made background extras for Home One orbiting Coruscant shots. Some new escorts or evolutions of older designs to replace junk scrambled by rebels.

    One of the things that I enjoy about Star Wars is the simplicity of design. We understood from looking at the Eye of Sion that it was a massive hyperdrive ring presumably able to travel massive distances. It was great to see it connect to an SSD, a fantastic mix of new ideas and callbacks. I was dissapointed in the show as a whole but the ships were fantastic.
