Amazing how at 0:25, in a single chord, you can hear it go from Bach to Beach Boys.
Bach Boys
@@itskarl7575 So I guess all they did at that point was remove the E from the chord!
what Bach is it from???? its driving me insane!
@@murdermatics I saw a comment on another video in which they sung this claiming it is Vivaldi's Concerto in D minor for organ
@@murdermatics BWV 596 is an organ arrangement by Bach of the Vivaldi concerto, RV 565, which includes the fugue.
The pitch raise at the middle of the video was awesome
That's barbershop for ya
autotune could never
@@robbiewilson214 actually it could, that's kinda the point of autotune, you can around and edit the pitch of anything, but it definitely wouldn't be as impressive
@@vascosanchez I mean you could futz around with automation till you’re blue in the face but imo it’s the same principle behind live drummers being more enjoyable than drum machines
It's called a slide
Thank you so much for doing another one of our videos George! Also the arrangement was done by Larry Wright
I am a huge fan of the work your group has done over the years. I never paid attention to barbershop quartets before, but you guys are excellent and hilarious! I was so glad when I recently heard that you had gotten back together with a new member.
is this that one rocket league guy from twitch
Yo, how do you say that last name?
JACKSON NIBBYGRUGGUE
Anyone else miss the newfangled four ;-;
yea, what happend to them?
@@Mickey1012_ they're still around! They got a new baritone recently, but they're still active so hopefully we will be seeing them on the stage again soon
They are back! The new baritone is really good, and is still very much the 'straight man' to the other three's shenanigans.

Due to the pandemic, the international Barbershop Quartet competition was on hold until things cleared out. The other three members of NF4 were fine waiting, but Ryan wanted to do keep singing and do other Barbershop related projects, especially when he was suppose to be a judge-in-training during the pandemic years. So, Ryan left the quartet on supposed good terms and NF4 originally set to retire the name.
Very much so
So it's a bachbershop quartet

Thanks Audiojack Barbershopper here. Agreed.
It's even notated at baroque pitch, this guy knows 😎
What is that ?
@@enzolescure5833 a=415
extremely confusing for perfect pitch gang though
@@itdepends604 oh so does this mean that everything was shifted up fourteen cents? I was sitting here thinking "this just sounds like its all consistently out of tune here, what is going on? Did these guys fall off?"
@@sirnato5218 it's actually tuned down by a little less then a semitone
No wonder Noel Gallagher labelled The Beach Boys as Barbershop Quartett
The Newfangled Four are my favorite barbershop quartet by far!
Even with the score below, the final open chord is so unexpected and clean
The hand gestures alone is crazy and the transitions are seamless
If I recall they did this to prove a point that they didn't need to do a ballad.
These guys were clearly the most entertaining anytime, but they never got the recognition in that competition that they should have received. :(
Newfangled Four to heal my soul
I'm a simple man, with a simple mind: I see Newfangled Four thumbnail, I click
outrageous, even when you know how good they are, this kills
This is one of my favorite NF4 performances, nice to see it transcribed.
This is a cover of a song by 139th St Quartet, who got the piece from a Bach arrangement of a fugue by Vivaldi. 3 layers of covers lmao
I’m a simple man. I see Newfangled Four. I like the video.
Insanely clean
Inb4 "This transcription is a half step off" and people not reading the description seeing that its Vivaldi and they would have tuned A to 412hz so its actually correct.
Tuning would have been the same for Bach as well. And in any case, this is an arrangement based on Bach's arrengement, not Vivaldi's original - the changes are subtle, but there. This video, however, covering the coda, is almost entirely an addition by Newfangled Four, and is four bars longer than the original.
This channel is solely responsible for my interest in barbershop and fuck have I been missing out.
YES, ONE OF THE GREATEST NF4 PERFORMANCES THAT I REQUESTED
the oldfangled four
I'm high as fuck and that transition to the Beach Boys pitch was jarring but also hot.
Bach's been quiet after this dropped
The Newfangled Four!
Sweet... great performance, great transcription.
i wish I had the ability to go that high
So happy I stumbled onto this side of YT
This is precisely what I’m doing doing. Just some minor tweaks like replacing the entire piece with space chords consisting of screams, yells, cries and a greater variety of things
I miss the Newfangled Four!
Holy fuck. Legit goosebumps! ❤
Second dude from the left looks like the bad guy from Megamind lol
OMG I can never unsee that every day in the mirror now hahahaha
I love how hectic is sounds at the start its just hilarious
I need a transcription of one of their Edelweiss parodies 😂
I love me some NewFangled Four
Fricken sick
Oh cool! That's my friend Jackson from high school!
This video has fugued me up.
Блестяще! Благодарю!!!
we love the new fangled four
just messing around
I like how I literally did this with the boys
my covid quarantine love child. They're amazing
Newfangled four never disappoint
LOVE THE NEWFANGLED FOUR! YES!
hey its the newfangled four
This is almost as good as falling asleep
Me and the boys aren't this musically capable
I didn't expect to se Newfangled Four here
neat
NEWFANGLED FOUR I MISSED YOU SO MUCH
Cool
Do you like the New Fangled Four? Me and three others in my quartet are going to be attempting a cottage for sale…
Wish us luck
The leads gotta cut through dee
i wish
Anyone else notice the title changes?
This is really rough....
Just replace it with sheesh and then we’re talking
infinite ending
Wow you notated it in A=415Hz wow
Sigh I miss Ryan.
😎👍
It should be specified that this is Vivaldi’s Fugue in D Minor,
Any fellow swedes getting Ronja Rövardotter-nostalgia?
It's rather annoying that the king's singers are not in your video Library
0:09 is that miserere mei deus?
I hate the snobbery out there towards Barbershop--but I will say this. THAT was absolutely downright INNNNNNNNNNNNNNCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!
Where can I go to submit requests? The link in the description doesn’t work.
Can anyone explain in music theory terms why Bach sounds like Bach?
Lots of counterpoint is the big one, going around the circle of 5th, taking chords that are diatonically minor, then making them dominant (for example, a vi chord becoming a V/ii) and moving around the circle that way. Also fat Picardy thirds
@@cadendavis43 Wow. Ok, that's an answer I can understand! Thanks so much for replying!
In this case you'd need to explain why Bach sounds like Vivaldi though.
Lol!! great singers though
Why is the audience laughing? I know these guys' performances involve comedy, but there was literally none here
Where do you hear laughter?
“A fire broke out backstage in a theatre. The clown came out to warn the public; they thought it was a joke and applauded. He repeated it; the acclaim was even greater. I think that's just how the world will come to an end: to general applause from wits who believe it's a joke.”
― Soren Kierkegaard, Either/Or, Part I
How about 🤡 another joke 🤣 Murray?

@@dominikschaller 0:24. you can kind of hear them when they cut off
I think it’s because the baroqueish voicing is interrupted by a glissando.
There was a big goofy glissando in the middle of the piece. It's like hearing an excerpt from a Mozart piece in the middle of a jazz solo It's just kinda out there.
Which piece from newfangled four is this?
2nd guy from the left needs a different tailor.
Not gonna lie I thought this was about end like 5 times and they kept milking it.
The request link shows Error 404
Didn’t one of those guys play in pitch perfect 😭😭
Where is the original for this?!
This is Vivaldi’s music.
audio's not working?
I think the transcript should be half a tone lower.
Did not think the biggest guy would have the high voice
isnt this fugue actually from vivaldi?
This fugue is based on Bach's fugue which is based on Vivaldi's fugue. Vivaldi didn't write what you hear here. Nor, for that matter, did Bach. There are four extra bars here which neither of them wrote.
Yeah thats not Bach. I think its Vivaldi but donte quote me on that. And dang thats sounds like the chant of the Robbers crew from Ronja röverdotter from Astrid Lindgren!!
Well originally yes it was Vivaldi, but to put it in modern terms, Bach covered it on organ.
tenor is too loud.. 😏
No context for the music, no sense in the title...
Shame about the parallel octave at 0:30...
Ok, this is great, but this is Vivaldi, not Bach. °_°
In this video, it's neither. It's based on _Bach's_ reworking of the fugue, but nearly everything you hear here is written by Newfangled Four - or whoever arranges for them. For one thing the coda is four bars longer than the original.
@@itskarl7575 I was referring to the original title (which has been actually changed).
@@SPscorevideos The original title was correct.
@@itskarl7575 And it was changed because of the powerful Vivaldi lobby, lol
The pronoun has no antecedent
Too much alto!

Yes
Yeah, not sure of it's because he's closer to the mic, but he is way too loud.
@@gneissrocks1845 you're right. I am too loud. Been working on the balancing it's getting better lol
Look at all these ignorant jazz musicians confusing Vivaldi for Bach. smh
It's not Vivaldi.
And no, it's not Bach, either.
But it's based on Bach.
Who in turn based it on Vivaldi.
Each arrangement made changes to the source.
So it's no more Vivaldi than the countless "My Way" covers are Jacques Revaux.
@@itskarl7575 The original is Vivaldi's L'estro armonico, RV 565. Bach only made arrangements. If I were to make an arrangement of the piece, would it be right to call it 112BALAGE112's fugue in D Minor?
@@112BALAGE112 There's nothing "only" about making arrangements. It's not just about changing the instruments, it's about making your own version. RV 565 is Vivaldi, but BWV 596 is Bach. And Newfangled Four base _their_ arrangement of the latter. It's even got four extra bars which neither Vivaldi nor Bach wrote.
Didn't like it at all. Some parts sounded noisy. Gave the like on the video tho, cuz you're boss and your channel is one of the best in CZcams
